The Wavebird controllers do work on the Wii system, quite nicely I might add. You have to use the GC memory cards for GC games, it won't read the GC saves from the SD cards at all.
Does that Freeloader update mean they're release a generic Freeloader that'll work on NTSC/PAL, or only PAL? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Probably one for each region (3 regions.)
I'm confused though - what the fuck. Play-asia's website has this for sale, which is an "updated" version of the Freeloader, and allows you to use foreign games on an american Wii. But apparently the 1.06 version works too, so what's the update for? Oh yeah, I asked if the one sold on play-asia worked on PAL consoles, but he didn't answer it. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Could be compatibility issues, could be a patch to fix certain problems, could be a number of things. Personally I'd wait until something a little more concrete is known about it before acting on it. Have you tried e-mailing Play-Asia about that specific statement yet?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
No, but I have complained to them about receiving a game recently with a broken case, days ago, and they still haven't replied.
But it's bordering christmas, and I figure heck, they're probably swamped with orders and requests and stuff, so I'll give them at least a week before contacting them again. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The only order I've ever placed with them is for Gyakuten Saiban 2, and I got everything without problems. Do they have a shitty reputation I need to be aware of or something?
I'm sure they'll say something about it in due time, if they're the only place throwing out that kind of statement with so many people looking for a Freeloader they'll have to address it sooner or later. FELIPE NO |
No, play-asia have an excellent reputation. I've bought a bunch of stuff off them and do so constantly without any problems. Oddly enough, their stuff only takes 5 days to reach me, unlike america which takes 5-10.
I'll just wait it out and see what happens. I'm not in a hurry to play my american GC games, anyway. Besides, I really need to stop spending money. Since there's gonna be a Freeloader most likely released in january or late december that'll solve this issue, I'll wait until then and gather some money together again. Speaking of spending, I totally forgot about the component cables. They didn't have any in stock at the store I purchased mine at, but I haven't seen any visual detriment from my PS2 component cables. Then again, all I'm playing at the moment is Wii Sports. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I have a question. I've been using the component cables for about a week now but I've noticed something. The scan lines are showing much more now than before around characters and other objects. I'm using 480p mode and the cables are connected in all the right spots so why are the scan lines more visible now. On my old tv which had no component slots there were no scan lines even though I was using composite. The picture quality and colors are a lot better now that I'm using component but the scan lines (or the outlines of things) seem to be moving making objects sometimes look blurry. Maybe it's just my hdtv. If any help can be offered it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't understand the calibration thing.
It tells you to set the sensitivity so the dots are blinking, but they're all blinking. So uh, what? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
So, Nintendo sent me a packing label and all the stuff I need to send my Wii in for repairs. I'm gonna keep it for this weekend though, for one last hurrah before I'm missing it for probably my entire Christmas break. ;__; Oh, and it was all free; even the label was paid for. Sorry Infernal, but it sounds like Nintendo of Australia are a bunch of asshats, with their asses up their ass. =/ This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
How ya doing, buddy? |
You're not doing anything wrong. It means you have a good set up, no matter the sensitivity.
People with bad lighting around the sensor bar/remote would have to adjust the light sensitivity until only the LEDs in the bar are seen. I was speaking idiomatically. |

Not exactly true. It seems to be only some are doing that, since you can still find them on sale in other BestBuy's and whatnot.

Someone mentioned here that after importing and paying for shipping and such it might still work out cheaper then buying it here in Australia and seeing as though a lot of cool looking games are coming out overseas importing a Wii (in a few months time) seems like an option. Importing would be a new thing for me though so I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice about importing consoles or maybe getting a console here and importing games (you've spoken about freeloader but I've never known how it works).
Same deal for the DS as well, there are some great looking games on that and checking out the EB website it looks like a DS bundle with Brain Age is still cheaper than just the DS in Australia and there still isn't a release date for Trauma Centre I don't think. Any previous experiences or advice would be appreciated What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
Woody Allen (1935 - ) Anyone know how to use alchemy? |
How is it cheaper to get one from america? The shipping is like, $50 US just in itself.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
An American Wii works out at roughly $320 AUD, so with that $50 shipping on top, you're saving like a whopping $30.
Dunno, maybe you should wait and see what Datel get up to with the Wii Freeloader first. Then you could buy the system here and import the games. Although I'm so bitter towards Nintendo Australia at the moment I can't recommend buying anything Nintendo related locally. :] ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Yeah I'm realy looking forward to playing my american GC games as well as future Wii games which aren't released over here. My guess is that Trauma Center won't come over here (Atlus is known for doing this), and of course there's the japanese stuff that might be interesting to see as well.
My arms are seriously tired at the moment, though. I can't play Wii Sports anymore. I'll just entertain myself with less tiring games until they recooperate from the mass amounts of unexpected use they've had recently. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Anyone pick up Elebits yet?
I'm going out to get it today. Maybe I should start a new topic about it. It looks like a lot of fun, basically HL2 Gravity Gun mixed with the absurd style of Katamari Damacy. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
As a very brief review (since I've only played a couple levels of it), I'll say that Elebits is definitely worth picking up. So far I only have two big complaints:
- Doors are a pain in the ass. Closet doors constantly want to close, so you pretty much have to go into the closet just to block them. Room doors require you to turn the remote for the door knob as you push/pull, and it's a somewhat difficult motion to do. - It makes me motion sick fairly quickly, which usually doesn't happen with most games. I'm also a little concerned with the number of levels in story mode. Since no one's mentioned it being too short, I assume there's more after these house levels. I'm over halfway through those and they just now started adding the object breaking limits. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Just to add:
The game's hella fun, and so far the difficulty is "just right" and it gets ridiculously frantic later. I like. =p Twisting doorknobs was a pain in the ass to beign with too, but like all these other new sweet Wii-moves I've been learning, you [hopefully] get better at it. As for levels, oh yeah... there's way more than you "see" there. They only display 7 at a time. FELIPE NO |
Prince of Persia: Rival Swords has officially been announced!

Infernal ZOOMIN' AWWN IN for a second.
The weather channel is avaliable (here, at least!) You guys should check or something. It's pretty nice. When you hover over somewhere with evil lightning bolts it even makes thunder noises and the controller shakes. WOW MEGA INNOVATION! You're able to check out the next five days of weather, and stuff. The maps are provided by NASA, serious business. But I was hoping it'd fix my fuck up from the last firmware, it didn't! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Nunchuck no. 2, is it useful?
So far I've only hooked it up in Wii ![]() And my American Wii insists that I have the most current software available. Guess PAL territories are on friendlier terms with NASA for the time being. Edit: I meant Wii Boxing. Slip of the... keystroke. Most amazing jew boots

Anyway, I've used an additional nunchuck for Wii Sports Boxing, Wii Play Tanks! and Red Steel multiplayer so far. Yay for Forecast Channel! Pretty useless but very nifty little screwaroundthingy. I love the swish-sound when you spin earth. It sounds a lot like flying in Mario 64, giving it a slight nostalgic Nintendo feel. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
