I really hope that my GameCrazy will be open on Monday night to accomadate the fanboys. Thank God that Tuesday is my ONE day off, so I can play it all damn day.

I'm trying not to get too excited, though, because I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than see my excitement die down.

( Poor character developmend along with uninteresting plot, and don't get me started on Basch's "betrayal" twist, its a soap opera cliche)

Basch spoiler:
Spoiler:
"My evil twin did it! Not me! I was framed!

FF12 may be a great game to some, and mediocre for others, or even bad, but is it perfection and does it deserve such high scores? Not really, more like reviews either jumping the bandwagon, waited so long that they take whatever they can get, bribed, or just plain fanboys.

If people love this game then great, I just think that it doesn't derserve the praise as being the game of the year or perfection or some other review over glorification.
You dont know how much I agree with you there. I think I said it before that people will play this game for the name alone and thats the only reason that its so hyped up.
When I first got FFX I wanted to keep going till I beat it but I've had FFXII for almost a month now and I havn't even beat it yet. I played it for like 5 hours a day at first but now I'll be lucky to sit though it for more than 2.
I expected it to dissapoint me in gameplay at first when I first saw the trailers but then there was so much hype about it then i thought maybe its not ganna be so bad after all, then I actually played it I went back to my original thoughts of dissapointment.

I also saw a second english trailer on gametrailers.com
It explains the whole story and what your going to be traveling for. The story isn't that extensive anyways though :/
Spoiler:
there are only three parts to the story.
All the party members meet, you go for a long journey for some nethecite, and then I guess the revenge part :/

I also noticed that there is little character interaction between the main characters.
Spoiler:
Panelo has Vaan on a leash so he only has a few lines to say to other characters. I honestly thought Ashe and Vaan would have more to do with each other but I've only seen them chat a few times and sometimes not even directly at each other. And Basch eventually just becomes a pet for Ashe just following her around and agreeing to go wherever she goes. Balthier is the only one that has any real plans so he has to talk to everyone else.

I dont really like any of the reviews I've seen for this game, I think everyone is just sucking up to square. Its not a bad game at all but damn, I keep Kingdom hearts II in front of FFXII.
And some of you may hate me for this but I honestly think FFX > FFXII :/

As I mentioned a few pages back Circuit City will have the regular edition of the game for only $37.99 on Tuesday and here's their Sunday paper to prove it:

Fry's will also have the same deal. Best Buy will have the game for $49.99 but pick it up between the 31st and November 4th and you'll receive a free mini-artbook.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Shenlon: You think that X > XII, well I can't really argue you because I haven't played the game yet ^^; However I know that I love all the FF games (except IX) so I don't have any worries about XII. Myself I like FFVIII the best still so I'm waiting for a game to knock it of it's pedistal still (sort of)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

well thats something we agree on, FFVIII is my favorite no matter what anyone says and I wasn't much of a fan of IX. You'll probably enjoy XII more than me since its not quite my flavor

everybody is bashing the gameplay, but I have to remember you that basicaly it's almost the same as the gameplay in FFXI, so if the gameplay was that bad, FFXI would have been close years ago >.>

I was always told to never said:"this is not good" and rather say: I don't like it...

I think it's like that, some like it others don't. It's just about taste here that's all...

I disagree (no offense). The gameplay surely resembled FFXI to some extent, but it lacked some significant things that make FFXI still alive today: Communication, virtual society, virtual relationship and virtual value that make us spend an awful lot of time lvling many jobs, getting über weapons and gears or just chatting. Though I'm sure more than half of FFXI players actually got bored with the game, they must take forever to quit just because they hesitate to delete thier own character and say goodbye to thier friends.

I don't intend to rubbish the game that many people are going to purchase, but I agree FFXII can't deserve perfect score and it's far cry from the perfection. My rating is, while I adore Yasumi Matsuno and ex-4th development team, 85/100 at best.

Btw, I was amazed to hear it still costs all MP to summon Espers in the US version. It's unanimously awful. I expected SE to improve this game a lot, because FFTA for US and EU were pretty better than the JP version...

Tell you the honest truth I never liked using summons and that of the sort. I rather do the work and level up my characters instead because you never know what the future may have in store for you in an FF game. For example the end of FFX where you had to kill your summons was a snap for me because I didn't overuse them.

Taisai: No game is perfect so whenever I do see a perfect score I usually ignore the review because I know that they're not going to show the pros and the cons of the product, however as you pointed out, FFXII is till well above your standard RPG.

Also I can't say for sure but I think Inhert was just talking about FFXI's battle-system, not the whole game.

Well, it now looks like it my local EB has left me a voice mail, saying it will be available Tuesday morning, rather than Wednesday November 1st, which is nice. Unfortunately I won't be able to get it until the afternoon, damn it.

Also, Canada sucks for snowing and making the roads fucktacular to drive. Go Canada, we love your weather.

Took the words right out of my mouth, I didn't get into FF11 cause of the battle system, but I know that people who play it long and got tired will hesitate to delete all their hard work and friends they made. FF11 has other values other than its gameplay that people might get jaded with. FF12 lacks those values, and its story isnt so hot either. People call it intelligent cause it deals with with the nation than characters, but how can you care for a foreign world if you don't give a damn of the characters who live there? And why would you care about the characters if they all as interesting as cardboard and don't change or develop?

FF12 is good or bad or great for different people, but its far from being the perfect game of the year magazines keep hyping it as, you know which game truly has a shot of deserving that honour? Okami. Story, originality, art and graphics, and most importantly gamplay are much better and more solid than FF12 ever will be.

There are far worst games out there than FF12, but that doesn't mean FF12 is perfect.

I agree with you that I don't think FFXII may deserve a perfect score, I don't know I didn't play it... but saying that the gameplay totally suck might be a little over the top. I was just saying that you didn't like it but some did like it, so you just might say that you don't like it and I respect that XD

so just 2/3 days before I,ll try it and see if i'll be with kairi li or the others ...

Kairi: That was a little extreme but I respect your opinion non the less. However there's yet to be an RPG that I've just sat down for a week straight to beat for a good while now. Last one I recall was either Xenosaga 2 or Nocturne. As for Okami being better then FFXII, I don't know how you can really say that where FF requires strategy, equipment, and the license board where Okami is a lot simpler and really isn't much of and RPG as it is an Action Adventure (yes there is a distinct difference). Unless you mean simply game of the year and then yes, I believe Okami has a good chance at winning that one. As for RPG of the year, even though I haven't played XII yet, there hasn't really been an epic RPG so far this year, and Devil Summoner was a let down.

I dunno, I found VP2 to be an RPG that is much more fun and addicting than FF12. But then again, FF12 overshadows alot of them so it might just get the award of RPG of the year by default.... Cause its FF.

Also, I like how the guy on my voice mail was all like:

"Oh since this is a pretty popular game, and you're first in line with your preorder, I think there's going to be line ups for this game. So if you want to come down early and wait in line, that's pretty cool too".

COLONEL SKILLS LESBIANS betta watch out!

Actually, unfortunately I can't change my vacation time to move it one day up from November 1st to the 31st. So I'm still going to have to pick it up during the afternoon. But at the same token, I won't have to fight rush hour traffic going to the mall. I initially chose November 1st off since this was back when the store clerks said it would be released on the 1st of November, not the 31st of October, a few months back, therefore my choosing of taking November 1st off with vacation time from work (and skipping night class LOL).

A better example is FFVIII where Ultimecia kills your summons after using it once.In FFX it was lame, you could use them fighting Jecht but when confronting your own summons you had auto revive...it was a letdown but the ending totally blew me off so it didn't matter...^^

True, if FFXII gets Rpg of the Year then Square Enix might use the same formula again and hey the main character might even look like Ashe ..with guns ..and they will love it! Naaah just kidding, i know i know..maker of vagrant story blablaba....

Anywayz, i've expressed my opinion and i will not buy it, i'll save the money when okami hits Europe..now that is a game worthy of being added in your collection...oops here i go again, laterz

If it's any consolation then Michigan is the same...only we don't have any snow yet. I'll have to give some cash to my sister in-law tomorrow since she'll be picking it up Tuesday afternoon for me.

Wow, not too often I hear of stores holding launch parties for games. Other then that one game for the xbox. But hey, I'm sure that FF is big enough to make it worth while.

Simo: Yeah but my special copy from EB comes with a metal case, that way if my house burns down with my PS2 at least I'll still have my FFXII, lol.

LOL Artbook, even I'm thinking of buying the best buy promotion for the regular game, get the artbook and return the unopened game a few days later. That's pretty sad, just for a 32 page book. Is this freebie even that great to warrant such a sly action.

Probably not but then such items and acts only come around every so often especially for a FF title where a numbered core title hasn't been seen in nearly 5 years.

Only the power of Matsuno could endure such a feat. I'd imagine the PS2 would be saved should bear the mark of FFXII!

...Which reminds me, I'm kind of surprised, and disappointed, SE and Sony aren't releasing that PS2/FFXII bundle that was released in Japan over here:
