I'm liking this game a lot. I think the random battles I don't have a problem with. It just helps me level up quicker. Graphics wise, the game looks great. Sure it's pixely but the graphics still are gorgeous. The movie at the beginning was absolutely marvelous!

I agree about the opening movie, all though it's unfortunate that they gave us a 5 minute intro and then not a single FMV for the rest of the game.

How ya doing, buddy?

It's really not that interesting when it's just video playback, so I don't mind the lack of constant FMV'ing. You could argue that it ruins the old-school feel of it, anyway.

It looks very promising. Nice to see games changing from the old style 2-D and going 3-D. Makes it seem like an entirely different game.

When looking at the old screens and new screens, it amazing to see how far we have come from such types of older games... And in a short period of time... Its only be a couple of decades...

That's too bad.. the intro was so nice, I can't believe they decided not to do cutscenes... then again, it was never in the original game, so I guess it was like the first FFIV remake, added an intro and that was basically it..

I'm not sure if a lot of cut-scene can be store in a DS card...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

lol I just can't get over how adorable the design is. >___< I remember chuckling when Luneth scared Arc by poking him from behind because... it's so aww.

I just used the airship to uh, yknow, progress to the next part of the story. Looks like a "fetch that person!" quest.

Metroid Prime: Hunters would like a word with you.

FMV intro just as long, and FMV's in between each level. Mind you, that game was also a sizable, fully 3D FPS.

It's unfortunate... I really like this game, but it could've been a DS killer app if they weren't so lazy. The only forseeable reason why using FMV's in-game would be a bad idea is because of the variable jobs... I would've just had the FMV's use the freelancer class. And I can think of a thousand better ways to use the top screen. For example I think all the 3d stuff should've remained on the top screen for the entire game, with the touch screen being the menu the whole time. I can deal without analog control, but I can't fucking deal with having to press a button to go to the menu.

Also, Asa, I'm fairly confident you're not that far into the game.

I was speaking idiomatically.

lol I would think not. I'm only about an hour and a half in at most.

Anyone know how long this game is, roughly? Without sidequests and such, if there are any to begin with.

I would say about 30-40 hours. I'm about 15 hours in and I just got to the third crystal. Judging by the way Final Fantasy 5 was structured, this puts me about 40-50% of the way thorugh the game.

I got it today, got the first three party members and tried to go into seal cave.

The first set of monsters took a 2/3 of my chracters HP.

Oyyyy...

Edit; and now, one of them are dead, and I can't seem to revive them without using a FD.
Even Inn's ain't doing it, isn't there a church or something, cause I mind that they were in the NES version.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the

You can revive back in Ur--there's two springs in the Elder's house, you want to use the right one.

Not sure about elsewhere.

Yeah, you have to get them revived at a Holy Spring. Don't waste Phoenix Downs because you can't buy them anywhere. You'll definitely want to spend some time leveling up before you enter the Sealed Cave, though you shouldn't have to spend more than half an hour.

I'm about 20 hours into the game so far and I'm really enjoying it. I never finished the NES version, but I know I got this far. Only thing is, I could swear I remember getting the last crystal earlier than this, especially because I'm picking up lots of claws but I can't make anyone a Black Belt yet.

I was aware of the PD problem, hence my question.

Just beat the dijin, he goes down hella easy once you use an artic wind on him (havin' the wind sword from the tower makes for some rather nasty damnage (adverage of about 110 against Sealed Cave monsters) ).

Now onot the game proper.
edit: what's this, a tutorial withonly 5 button presses ( the jobs one )?

Well of course! FF3 came out before RPGs were "popular" and people were smart enough to either read the instruction manual or figure things out for themselves.

Hahaha! Good point I suppose.

It is rather anoying that the jobs option doesn't note what classes can/'t equip though, but as you said...

YesAsia sent over my Final Fantasy III Original Soundtrack (along with Okami) a week before I expected, and I'm drooling over everything. The intro FMV looks gorgeous on my TV. I doubt it as awesome on a small little screen though. Or is it?

And hows the music in the game? I think the songs loop really well, very subtly and gracefully. Is the quality in the game same as on the soundtrack or what?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think the music is fine for DS sounds....some of the songs sound a little grainy, but it wasn't really something that bothered me. The only thing that really upset me was how Elia's theme sounded. That's one of the songs that I really love and it's very emotional, but it just sounded bad on the DS. Plus the fact they changed her name to Aria.....

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The songs are the same arrangement, they just sound like a 28kbps MP3 version of the songs on the CD. The music was another thing I felt could've been done much better. Not that I dislike the compositions, because they're actually pretty good. However, after playing a game like Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, which had almost CD-quality recording on the DS hardware, it's very hard to justify having such low-quality sounds playing in a FF game.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hello everyone. I hopped over from the FFXII thread to see what people are saying in this one. I'd probably still spend most of my time there though.

Anyway, I already have the full party only after 20 minutes of playing. That's some record.

I went to the Sealed Cave and promptly got my ass kicked. I thought people said every FF game are easy enough that you don't even need to level up on purpose to get past something :D

After playing FFXII, the random battles is starting to show its age. Granted, I still like random battles, but it takes longer to finish each fight now. It shouldn't take that long just to say how much exp the team got and stuff, for instance. In other RPGs, I can press a button to pull that stuff up instantly, but not this one.

The opening FMV is cool, but when the video splits into both screens, it gets really confusing due to the big gap between the top and bottom screen. Can you DL it somewhere so I can see it intact?

How ya doing, buddy?

People said that post-VI Final Fantasy titles are easy. The NES ones are almost as brutal as Dragon Quest's early days.

This game is not a reimagining of Final Fantasy III. It is a very, very faithful remake.

I was speaking idiomatically.

So you're saying FFIII DS has the same difficulty as the Japanese version? I thought the FF GBA conversion was a joke.
