The stupid dog (failure that it is) gets the kind of brutal mauling it deserves. Let it be a lesson to you, dog: always bite people. Every time.

Warlord's Favor: 12 damage to Gravehound

Caught up in some kind of surreal causality loop, Brigid and Ewan continue not-hitting the corruption corpse in hopes of preventing its future attack (not-hitting one of them).

Priest's Shield: Miss (see #125)

Frying Pan: Miss (see #126)

While this mutual ineffectuality party is going on, the dwarves are getting mauled by vicious dogs. They struggle to stay on their feet, but go down under the weight of the angry hounds.

Bite: 6 damage to Gabe, and 5 ongoing necrotic damage (save ends). Gabe knocked prone.
Bite: miss (Gabe)
Bite: 8 damage to Motsognir, and 5 ongoing necrotic damage (save ends). Motsognir knocked prone.
Bite: miss (Motsognir)

Spotting an opportunity, the zombie captain darts over and attempts to run Gabriel through with his longsword. Despite the dwarf being ass-over-teakettle on the floor, the zombie can't seem to hold the blade steady enough for a good stab.

Longsword: miss (Gabe)

Argumentus, Bob, Gabriel, Corruption Corpse, Motsognir, Brigid, Ewan, Gravehounds, Zombie Rotter, Zombie Captain

The dwarf couldn't help but smirk as the animals' jaws snapped about him. Even as one of the beasts bore down on him, forcing him to the ground, its jaws sinking into his shoulder, he had to bite back a laugh before he swatted the animal off of him with the back of his plated hand and tried to struggle back to his feet. A second animal striking out at him forced him to his back, but he managed to turn the creature's attack, only to struggle to sitting as the zombie captain lashed out at him violently. A sharp rebuke from the Paladin's shield gave him the time he needed to get to his feet. The necrotic poison swam in his veins, but he took no notice. Kord's feverish resolve burned hotter in his blood than any foolish flesh-eating putrescence. His feet ground into the charred remains of the floor beneath him, his eyes blazing as he fixed his eyes on the newest challenger.

"When I'm done with your pet, I come for your head."

A promise, but not a challenge. For that already laid with the beast that had dared to sully his flesh with its crude weapons. A quick glance about fixated the dwarf as properly surrounded by his foes. Good. Nowhere was a Paladin of Kord more comfortable than overwhelmed by foes to be thrown back like water against the rocks. Let them crash and break until the very gates of the underworld were to fall to rust. His axe sang the hymn of Kord, and it cried out in righteous fury on its way towards the hound's flank.

Stand from prone
Valiant Strike on marked doggy
6 + 10 = 16 HIT
Damage: SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH! 10 + 5 = 15 Damage (ignore crit roll, I don't understand rules)

As his weapon separated flesh from decaying bone, the dwarf roared his further challenge to the beast. His weapon flinging gore and blood across the battlefield as he pounded his chest with the sheer exhilaration of the battle. This was the first he'd truly been swept up in the tide of combat, and his lust was far from satiated. Let the world fall to pieces, Gabriel Sledgehammer had no desire beyond tearing down his piece of it in the name of his god. He spat black ichor on the hound as it reeled back under the might of his cleaving blow, his dwarven body purging itself of the vile invader in one final act of defiance. His strength was not his own, and he would wield it with all the valor expected of one of his rank. He was chosen, let these foolish, shuffling monstrosities realise such and tremble before the closed fist of his deity.

Save vs Necrotic: SUCCESS

Jam it back in, in the dark.

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

Argumentus violently shakes down the waitstaff in search of an apology, but all he gets is a bunch of incoherent grunting sounds and more pudding on his cravat. Barbarians! How dare they speak to a Hamfist in this way!

11 damage to Gravehound
4 damage to Corruption Corpse

Gabe does this...thing where he... you know, I'm not going to try to compete with Deni's post. Just read that instead.

Gabe takes 5 necrotic damage
15 damage to Gravehound (bloodied)
Save vs. necrotic: success

Gingerly tiptoeing back toward the fight, Bob spots a thing he expects he can probably attack without it turning him into a shish kebab afterward. The rotter politely expires when Bob ignites it. At least somebody around here has the good sense to realize they've been annihilated by arcane power; the rest of them keep wandering around moaning when logically speaking they should all be chunks of kibble in a dustbin by now. It's all so vexing.

Scorching Burst: Zombie Rotter destroyed, 7 damage to Gravehound

The corruption corpse steps north, seeking to kick Soggy while he's down.

Corruption Corpse regenerates 5 HP
Slam: 3 damage to Motsognir

Beginning of Motsognir's turn: 5 ongoing necrotic damage (bloodied)

Motsognir, Brigid, Ewan, Gravehounds, Zombie Captain, Argumentus, Bob, Gabriel, Corruption Corpse

It's a damn shame when an unwanted guest leaves his critters when he finally ups and leaves. Never know quite what to do, you know? Do you keep them? Do you take them back to the guy's house? Do you kill it, cut off its head and put it on a stake out front to warn the guy against comin' 'round here again?

Finally. That regenerating zombie was really getting annoying. Ewan decided that things would be easier if he just stuck with helping out the short lady. She knew what she was doing (or at least that's what it looked like), and he liked fighting better with someone between himself and the things he was trying to kill. Leave the dangerous stuff to the professionals.

Motsognir hacks apart the persistent corruption corpse at last, splattering its various internal juices all over the halfling woman.

Death Burst: 8 damage to Brigid
Save vs. ongoing necrotic successful

Brigid jabs her dagger directly into the rotting hound's filthy ear canal, and something goes crunch. The mutt's vacant eyes begin lolling about randomly in its head.

Wrathful Thunder: 8 damage to Gravehound (dazed)

Ewan hurls out his sharpest cleaver, and abruptly the gravehound has no nose. But how does it smell?

Knife: 12 damage to Gravehound (bloodied)

The hounds continue their bitey-style frenzy, once again laying into the two dwarves.

Bite: 7 damage to Gabe, 5 ongoing necrotic damage. Gabe Stands His Ground.
Bite: miss (Gabe)
Bite: miss (Arg)
Bite: 8 damage to Mots, 5 ongoing necrotic damage. Motsognir is knocked prone.

With Gabriel too busy to be a threat anytime soon, the zombie captain circles around him to confront Argumentus. The bruiser hardly seems to notice, so caught up is he in his delirium.

Longsword: miss (Arg)

The dwarf snarled as yet another bastard hound ripped into his shoulder, hurling the beast off with a great heaving rise of his torso. Clutching his holy symbol he felt the healing rush of his god's power coursing through his veins, again finding himself surrounded, he hefted his axe once more and hacked roughly into the hound he'd challenged.

The dog managed to avoid the brunt of the paladin's fury, his axe glancing a blow off its shoulder and crashing into the charred remains of the floor with a splintering clatter. Spitting angrily the dwarf slammed his axe against his shield, renewing his challenge to his marked opponent. Again spitting the black fluid at the creature, shaking off their poison by will alone.

Bob quickly scampers back to cover after another volley, having had more than enough danger for the evening.

scorching burst: 6 damage to zombie captain and Gravehound

The hound Gabriel had selected as his opponent was in a miserable state. With a sigh, he quickly lops off the horrid animal's head. It's a shame that such a noble animal has come to such a shameful end. To the paladin's horror, the hound's disembodied head continues to snap viciously at his legs for a moment after its decapitation. He steps aside, letting pass what he hoped were only the dog's second round of death spasms.

Soggy just can't seem to stay clean. The moment he wipes away one glob of sludge, the dogs impose another one on him. He can't keep up. Achingly tired, he swings for the seeming leader of the zombies but misses by a mile.

Mots takes 5 ongoing necrotic damage (bloodied)
Bastion of Defense: miss (ouch)
save vs necrotic failed

Brigid does what she can to keep the hounds away from the benighted Argumentus. As soon as they get done with these unwanted guests, they can see about getting him to a doctor — or else giving him a strong whack upside the head. No sense in throwin' away money for something a good oak plank can accomplish just as well.

Priest's Shield: 7 damage to Gravehound, +1 temp AC to Brigid/Arg

Gathering his courage, Ewan steps up to bat with his fry pan. The iron skillet hits the tall zombie square in the jaw, and with a sickening crunch its skull comes loose from its moorings. Ewan has a free moment to safely back away while the zombie's head spins like a merry-go-round.

Impromptu Dentistry: 7 damage to Zombie Captain (dazed until end of Ewan's next turn)
Captain's Rebuke: 7 damage to Ewan (bloodied) Dazed; can't take immediate actions. Excellent move, Hawk.

As Motsognir begins to bleed afresh, the hounds fall on him in a frenzy. Despite his efforts, he can't fend them all off and falls back to the floor under a tide of teeth and fur.

Bite: 5 damage to Soggy (saves against prone)
Bite: miss (Soggy)
Bite: 9 damage to Soggy (knocked prone)

The captain spots a chance to help even up a battle that had started to go against him. With a swift kick to the head, Motsognir is out of the fight.

Longsword: 5 damage to Soggy (Marked by Captain, DYING!)

Argumentus, Bob, Gabriel, Motsognir, Brigid, Ewan, Gravehounds, Zombie Captain

The dwarf snarled defiantly as his kinsman crumpled to the ground at the hands of the zombie captain. He smirked slightly and shuffled over to stand next to Mots' fallen body. Swatting away the snapping maw of a nearby hound with his shield, protecting his fallen comrade, he pushed the fist of Kord into the dwarf's chest, muttering under his breath for the God of War to heat the cooling blood with the flames of battle. Without glancing up he spoke to the zombie captain, his grip tightening on his weapon.

"You will regret that action, deadite."

And in that moment, the gentle glow of Kord's affections twisted in the dwarf's eyes, darkening, shifting, and then racing through his powerful arms until it touched the steel of his axe, igniting it in righteous fury. The weapons swung through the air, looking to all but disembowel the fool who dared challenge a follower of Kord in battle.

At last, Argumentus catches up with the management for a heartfelt discussion. Unfortunately the fellow is in a disagreeable mood and Argumentus is forced to convey his arguments rather tactlessly. This whole evening has been positively undignified.

Creeping over to his dwarven cousin, Gabriel kneels down and pinches Motsognir's nose shut. It isn't long before Soggy is slapping at Gabe's hand and gasping for breath. Clan Sledgehammer soldiers can spot a possum-playin' morale failure at 500 yards.

Lay on Hands: Motsognir's HP restored to 8
Paladin's Judgment: miss; Motsognir's HP +8 (16)
LoH used your minor; no Challenge

"Hey, ugly!" shouts Bob from the corridor. "Why don't you chill—" He frowns, seeing the captain already rimed in frost. Somebody's trying to make him look redundant.

Ray of Frost: 11 damage, slowed a bit longer

Beginning of Motsognir's turn: 5 ongoing necrotic damage

Motsognir, Brigid, Ewan, Gravehounds, Zombie Captain, Argumentus, Bob, Gabriel

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Motsognir stood up and stepped out of the pack of dogs. He was just happy to be there.

I was right proud of the weak dwarf. He managed to pull through most of the fight without gettin' kilt! I gave him a friendly tug on the ol' beard and commensed to givin' the captain the what-for.

Healing tug Word on Soggy
Move to V14
Avenging Flame on Captain
oh what the hell
Action Point
Righteous Brand on captain, bonus to Ewan

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
