I know you're an Irish fan and all, but have you watched LSU at all? LSU is going to absolutely destroy Notre Dame. ND would have been much better off if Michigan had gotten in, forcing LSU to play in the Rose Bowl and setting up Notre Dame with a team it has a chance against, like Boise State or Oklahoma.

LSU destroying Notre Dame isn't going to make people happy that Notre Dame got picked over Auburn and Wisconsin. If anything, it could hurt ND the next time talks come up about ND's role in the entire system.

Out of the BCS matchups USC v Michigan seems to the most interesting to me. The rest of them look to be fairly one sided, although I could be wrong.

I'm mad they picked Florida because I think the game will be a snooze fest and as a fan I want to watch the best game possible. Florida will get killed.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

At least Urban Meyer is mildly revolutionary in how he runs things. He might be able to pull some fast ones on OSU before getting his butt kicked. I would honestly be very surprised if Florida put up very much of a fight.

Personally, I think half the rankings are a joke - everyone at the top of the pile is based on their last few weeks' performance, while everyone in the rankings but after, say, 9 or 10 is based on overall performance. Pick one and be consistent.

On the plus side, many of the BCS matchups should be interesting. Notre Dame might be outmatched against LSU, but they should at least put up a fight, as they always do. Michigan-USC should be an ace game. I'm definitely hunkering down with chips and popcorn for that one.

You know, Jim Tressel would be the first to tell you to not be so certain about things like that; Ohio State won their last national championship against a Miami team that was supposed to rape the Buckeyes like everyone here is saying the Buckeyes will Florida.

Seriously, it's not like this Florida team backed into the championship like Oklahoma did its last two trips.

Well, like I said - I would be surprised. It's not that it's not possible for Florida to put up a fight - they're a very good team with some incredible coaching, and they've put down a lot of good teams and silenced a lot of critics. It's just that at last appearance, Ohio State was firing so well on all cylinders and generally just dominating in most areas of the game, if they're up to their par performance I think Florida would be hard-pressed to stop them. It would surprise me.

Obviously there're a lot of things at work going into a national championship game (or any bowl game, really) that could affect - adversely or otherwise - either team. A long period of time away from real gameplay, possible sicknesses or injuries, simple psyching out, new strategies and plays, intense scrutiny of recordings of the opposing team, etc. We might see two completely different teams on the field in January.

ND didn't really get picked over Auburn or Wisconsin. There's a clause that only two teams from each conference can go to a BCS game, so Auburn and Wisconsin were eliminated by the fact that they were third choice in each conference.

As an Auburn fan, I hate that we "disappointed" this year at 10-2. However, we did beat #2 and #4 in the final BCS standings, so that stands for something.

Oh yeah, I always forget about that rule. That means the next team down in the rankings would be West Virginia (Arkansas would be ineligible too), and it could be a toss up between them and ND.

Yay for TCU dismantling Northern Illinois and BYU destroying Oregon! The commentary and anything spoken by the referees were fantastically awful. I don't know how many times the referee said that a penalty applied to the wrong team, or announced the wrong down. And the announcers weren't much better, calling the Oregon quarterback Brady Quinn and slipping up all over the place. It kinda fit the game at the time, though, because the first quarter was patchy at best. Cleared up right nice by the beginning of the second quarter, though.

I find it offensive that an undefeated-in-conference, 9-game winning streak, 10-2 BYU team got put up with the number 5 Pac-10, 4-game losing streak, 7-5 Oregon team. It didn't really let BYU shine (or fall on its face), but it did make us look good when we picked Oregon apart most of the game. Feel kinda sorry for Gary Crowton, though. We made a fool out of him.

Sun Bowl

(24 or 25) Oregon State defeats MIZZ 39-38.

OSU had probably one of the most amazing and unbelievable comebacks ever. At the start of the 4th Missouri was ahead 38 to 24 and at 7 mins, OSU strikes with a touchdown. then in the last 2 mins or so, OSU gets another touchdown then a 2 point conversion.

I swear, Missouri was all energetic and bouncing up and down before the touchdown and afterwards...they were like dead.

Holy Boise State! Big score for the underdogs, huge statement for the introduction of a playoff system to division I football. I'm so glad I stayed up and watched the whole thing, because the last few minutes and the overtime were incredible. They'll be showing those highlights for a while.

Was very disappointed by the USC-Mich game. I expected more out of Michigan, but they never were able to figure USC out. USC kept running the same basic defense, and they just never adjusted.

Hell yeah! Just got back from the Rose Bowl! W00t! The UCLA game was just a fluke. I think this game proves that USC still has it and will probably mean we'll be #1 when the season begins again.

And Boise State! Oh shit man. I wished I could have watched that game. The last play was some crazy trick play conversion.

I have no doubt in my mind that USC will deserve to be atop the preseason rankings, yeah.

We thought for sure the last BSU play in regulation (the pass-lateral-run in) would be the play of the day on ESPN, but the fake play option with the quarterback running weak side and having his teammate (I can't remember who it was who took the snap) passing into the endzone was brilliant, and then the pass fake and handing off the ball behind the back with the left hand for the 2-point conversion...after playing straight-up football for the first 59 minutes, it was fantastic. On each play, you really had to see the replays to catch just how well put-together they were.

The Fiesta Bowl is the best game I have ever seen. I mean, it isn't even close. There were like 15 spectacular moments within about 20 minutes. I just saw the highlights again on SportsCenter and I couldn't help but laugh, it was just great.

Fiesta Bowl. Yes, one of the most amazing spectacles in sports I have ever witnessed. I didn't get to see if from the start though. A friend IM'd me and told me to watch that shit, so I watched that shit and was amazed.

I haven't got the chance to check video highlights though. Gotta check that when I get home.

The Fiesta Bowl was the sickest set of plays I've ever seen.

Now the sun bowl, OSU did great with two strong drives in the last 7 minutes of the game to gain 15 points and ultimately the win, but with BSU's behind the back left hand pass to get the two point conversion in OT was incredible.
