Like Sousuke, I've also had no problems at all playing ps1 games on PSP. The only game that I know that don't run perfectly is Final Fantasy 6 (You can play teh game but you can't load your save file).
I've had a problem with Silent Hill, the game was crashing. But I updated my firmware and now it runs fine. FELIPE NO |
Yuna, according to the PSX on PSP Compatibility, you can fix that. The fix is as such:
"If you use a high version of pops you will get a corrupted save. To solve this, delete your non working save, then use popsloader to run the game on 3.03. Once you get to the title screen you'll have a perfectly working save. You can now reset and use popsloader and use a higher version to play the game." Everyone, I'm completely confused about how PS1 emulation works on PSP. I downgraded my PSP too 3.40 sometime last year and I know it has the ability to emulate, but I tried briefly once and couldn't get it to work. I recall having a folder with something like "SCUS*insert numbers here*" (There was an EBOOT in the folder) as it's name, and put it in my ISO folder and couldn't figure out how to get it to work.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Download a PSXPSP game, and stick the EBOOT.whatever into your /PSP/GAME folder. It should just detect it from the memory card.
There's a bunch of things you can do before this, like adding PS1 walls/icons/sounds, but if you don't even know how to run PS1 games, welp. How ya doing, buddy? |
Read Miniface's guide on how to convert/install PS1 games. I felt it was fairly straightforward.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
What exactly is required for modding the new model PSPs? The most attractive thing about this model is its video out capabilities so it'd be nice to have that stuff portable.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
You have to know someone who has a modded PSP already. Then you have to use the Pandora technique in order to mod your Slim PSP.
I'm creating EBOOTs of my PS1 games. As some of you may know you can change the thumbnail and background to one of your choosing when you view the game profile through your XMB. However to add audio to this profile it has to be in Sony's .at3 format. So my question to you is, does anyone know of a free program that converts .mp3 to .at3? Thanks ^^ I was speaking idiomatically. |
I did do a bit of a search and found out a bit about it, but apparently there are two methods. This guy claims he can do it with one PSP, meaning there's a way to do it with two which I haven't found yet. Also his method says you need two batteries and I can't see why. If it helps when Best Buy finally gets some in stock I'll have two PSPs, a fat 1.5 and a new slimline. BTW does all content on screen for the slimline become outputted when the cables are hooked up to it or just PSP games and movies? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I asked around and was told that trick supposedly worked. SOMEHOW the battery keeps the information you need. I lost the link but there was a guide that someone posted that was a step-by-step procedure. Keep in mind that you may lose the battery you use for this procedure although that may be better than having to find someone else with a PSP.

If you're decent at soldering, you can solder the phat battery into a Pandora. And you can easily download a noob installer of the magic memory stick someone online. So you technically do it without 1.5 psp.

I keep hearing everyone talk about a method that requires an old PSP, but I already have one. That's what I'd like to know more about. The link I put up in my last post mentions two batteries (why I don't know), but if there's something even simpler that requires a new PSP an and old one I'm already set up for that [preferably soldering free]. If you have an old fat custom firmware PSP you can download some small software into the fat psp so that you can create the pandora battery without any soldering. Then create the necessary magic memory files and once your done with that you insert the memory stick with the magic memroy files into the Slim psp and then insert the pandora battery and it should start up with the instalation for the custom firmware.
You can find a detailed guide somewhere in AfterDawn.com I'd look for it but i'm not at home right now. But you wont need to solder your battery if you have a fat cfw psp. other than that, has anyone tried out the new 3.80m33 firmware. pspupdates.cj.com I'm going to try it when I get home so I'm hoping that the remote play has been fixed without entering any other files into the system. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
As with everybody talking about it...
3.80m33 is out.:

I never said you had to get it. I didn't even say I was going to get it. I was just answering a question.

Oh, I didn't really mean to respond to you specifically, I was just warning those who were about to upgrade that they might want to wait.

As Jazz said, I, myself wait until I know it's all good. Last thing you want is to download it and there be some fatal flaw that was missed. I mean, we're all human and once in a while miss something such as that.

Fuck, something is wrong.
I traded my old psp-slim couple months ago... now I want it again. So I bought Star Wars Battle front set... I swear to god the old slim had 3.60 FW. This has 3.71... and my totalnewbieinstaller doesn't work. Anyway to do this without fat PSP?
EDIT: Fucking vista. EDIT: Gay, I need downgrader for 3.71 now. Is it even out yet? Most amazing jew boots

If it's a Slim PSP you have to hold "R" when you pur the battery in. If it's a fat PSP you have to hold "L"
I was speaking idiomatically. |
My friend and I just modded his PSP from firmware 3.70 (or 3.71 I can't remember). Anyhow we had a similar problem. We made the Pandora battery and the Magic Stic and then when we put them both into the slim PSP, the power light came on and nothing would happen. After hours of toying around and searching the net we found out that we had to hold the correct shoulder button for the corrisponding model. Then as simple as holding a single button everything went on without a hitch from that point.
So I don't know if the same thing would fix your problem. All I know is that's what happened when we were modding my friend's. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
My bad. I just double checked.
This thread reports that you have to hold "L", and my friend just told me the same thing. I can't boot Slim with Phat Pandora Battery - PSPMod.com - Sony PSP Mod & Hacks Forums So try L forst. Then if that doesn't work try R. But it should be L. FELIPE NO |
