What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Ok, so, I too am thinking of geting a psp, thinking of geting a second hand one for the express idea of playing PSX Games or, more accurately, Xenogears (which I hold a ligit NTSC copy of) and the newly translated Tales of Phantasia remake that got it's release today) and, quite possibly Disgaea PSP and FFT PSP also.
So, in short, if it ain't a pain in the ass, what particluars should I obtain to get this done? and by this, I meen beyond a 1gig card and the psp itself. FELIPE NO All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

I like the older models, a bit more heavier, it just feel better. The new ones have a cheap feel to it.
I'm enjoying the remote play feature with the PS3, I'm playing FFVIII on my PSP at the moment. When I connect over a private network it lags a lot, but when I connect over the internet it runs just fine, it may lag once in a while but it doesn't get annoying at all. So I'm used to putting in the firmware for the fat psp but I just got a Slim White Psp with 3.71.
I heard you have to do some pandora crap with a battery from a fat psp or whatever ><! Is there any link with these instructions? is it as easy to put in the custom firmware as it is in the fat psp? EDIT: I don't suppose theres a way to do this without the damn battery? And if I do use a fat psp battery, will I be able to restore it to be usable in the fat psp again? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() New Record!

Similar question as mortis:
Are there any programs that emulate arcade games like Neo-Geo for example, or Mame that would work on Slimline PSPs? -Pb FELIPE NO |
To confirm it.
Yes, yes, and no. Yes, and yes to the answer that SNES can work on the PSP. There's a download utility you can get via QJ's site that lets you emulate the SNES games. Which's in the style of the ZSnes or SNES9X (not sure which emulator was mentioned for the PSP) emulator. Though, for the Neo*Geo, no. Because there's been no word as of yet if there's been a Neo Geo emulator. Most amazing jew boots ![]() ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

only Neo Geo CD working
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Hey I've had a PSP since launch, but I'm WAY behind the times. Basically it's been my forgotten system. The only reason why I'm going to get back into it is because there's a handfull of games that I'm now interested in, and I'm going to get the slimline one so I can play the games on TV.
To tell you how far behind I am my old one is still running ver. 1.5. And I haven't used it for anything outside of NES and substandard Genesis and SNES emus. I'm trying to get back up to speed, and I know that this is the thread to ask for help in, but all of the cross-talk and jargon is a bit overwhelming. I'd like to know how to play PS1 games and I'd like to know what the better SNES and Genesis EMUs are. Any help is appreciated, thanks. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
1-download FW 1.50 & 3.52 from here Download latest PSP utilities, tools, cracks and hacks. 2-download CFW PSP 3.71 M33 from here: http://exophase.com/files/psp/3.52M33.zip 3-
http://exophase.com/files/psp/M33-1234.zip for now you play PS1 games but not with last CFW for PSP.if you need it tell me I'll post it. about SNES and Genesis EMU: Genesis: DGEN for PSP SNES: YoyoFR's psp stuff - SnesPSP_TYL This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
So use 3.51 for PS1 games?

Thanks for all the help guys, but I'm on vacation and it appears asthough I've left my USB cable at home, so I can't do any updating right now. I've bought 3 games (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, MGS portable ops +, and Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow), and I'm wondering if I should wait to do firmware upgrading or if it's okay for me to go ahead and play the games and deal with the software hacks when I get back home.

If you upgrade too high, I think higher than 3.5, you'll need a to get/make a Pandora Battery/Magic Stick to downgrade it. So if yours is over 3.5 already then upgrade, if not then stay away from all upgrading -- it'll save you lots of time and maybe money.

How do I use my PSP.
So, one of my New Year resolutions was to update myself. I have been so out of the world I used to inhabit that I decided that I was going to try to show at least some interest in things I claim to be interested in. Like gaming, for example.
Anyway, my PSP sits around and collects dust. I am basically an old man about it. I play games on it. I go out and buy games on discs. But then I finally noticed that I have a memory stick for it and there are little sections for "music" and whatever on the screen. So, while I'm playing Secret of Mana on my old zSNES emulator on my old computer, it dawns on me that some people probably play emulated games or something on the PSP. I went to a few sites, and mostly it's either babble I still don't understand (what the HELL is MAME?) or the usual, obnoxious, "Don't ask for ROMs! They are illegal! If you need help with an emulator, go to our forums!" stuff. So, I decide, for now, since it's illegal and all, I'd rather get to know my legal options. Clearly, the PSP was intended to play other forms of media than PSP games because Sony built in little sections for it. So I generally have some questions.
I'm twenty-one and I have relegated myself to playing games that were popular when I was seven on ancient emulators. I don't have an XBox 360 Live Account or whatever. I just recently heard that people can mod their original XBox consoles to play PS1 games. Help me out, here. I'm an old man. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Without a custom Firmware installed, you can't do much outside of Sony's restrictions. Which are exactly what you see in the PSP's XMB: Music, Videos, and UMD games/movies. And the wireless browser and internet features [which I don't use, so I don't know much about what they are or what they do, other than browse the internet.]
Music is fairly simple to get set up with. Pop in a Memory Stick and connect via USB. Create the folder ms0:\PSP\MUSIC [where 'ms0' is the Memory Stick's root folder], and stick your MP3 and WMA [if you have WMA enabled from the system menu] into that folder, and you're set to go. You can arrange them in album folders if you want, too. Videos are a little more complicated, because they have to be in a specific format. I'm not sure of the specifications myself, but as far as I know, the format they've chosen is MP4 something-or-other. If I really want to watch movies on my PSP, I convert and transfer them over using PSPvideo9. It'll convert your videos for you, and copy them to the proper folder on your Memory Stick. [The file naming conventions and location on the Memory Stick are pretty confusing too, I just let the program do it for me. Check out the Memory Stick after copying if you're curious.] If you DO have CFW installed, however, you can do a lot more. I don't really use homebrew or emulators, but there's programs out there for emulation [similar to ZSNES] for SNES, GBA, N64, and others. MAME is another gaming platform, for the record. I think. Built in to the firmware itself though, is the PS1 emulation system. By converting a Playstation ISO to the PSP EBOOT format [using a program like PSX2PSP, and sticking them in ms0:\PSP\GAME\[game title] will let you load up the games from the XMB. Similarly, PSP ISO files can be stuck in ms0:\ISO and loaded from the XMB. Personally, that's my favourite feature. Sorry for the long-winded post, but there's a lot of info to put out there. I'm probably missing a bunch too. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Do PS1 ISO's run well on the PSP? What about N64 games on it?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
I've had zero issues running PS1 games on my PSP. In my experience, they all run great. The only 'issue' I've seen [which isn't really significant] is that in Final Fantasy VII-IX, the 'enter battle swoosh' either doesn't show, or looks a little bugged. The game still plays and loads just fine, though.
As for N64, I tried it a while back, and it was pretty bad. Apparently it's much improved now, so I might give it a try again. Maybe I was just using bad ROMs, though. Who knows. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
