That brings up another issue: his look. Most likely they'd use his appearance from the Zero series, but since he's using moves from the X series in my speculation... who knows, maybe the X series look would make an appearance as a costume?
Hell, maybe there'll actually be alternate costumes this time instead of plain old palette swaps? If that were true, it would make the game a hulking behmoth of replayability. Characters, stages, trophies, costumes... wow. Anyways, I just immediately went for suggesting Zero as opposed to X because we haven't really played as any actual Megaman incarnation in those games for years. Zero's clearly stolen the spotlight and that's why I suspect any blue Megaman is out of candidacy as a character for SSBB. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Hmm... yeah, and also X and Megaman's movesets would be kind of limited. There's not much they can really do unless you give them a basic Shoryuken move or that spinning kick move that Ryu and Ken do.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Regardless, I still vote for Megaman over the latter incarnations. His moves would be really easy to come up with since he has a rather diverse arsenal. Most amazing jew boots |
Let me think about the original Megaman...
B: Buster (can be charged, as well as edited with random items from Eddie) Up+B: Rush Coil (sort of like G&W's "Fire" move, Rush just instantly appears and disappears underneath him, except Megaman has the added ability of being able to smash upwards with a headbutt) Smash+B: Rush Jet (he simply jumps on Rush and jets forward for a bit with an overshield around them, electrocuting opponents) Down+B: Eddie (he simply pulls out that little flip-top bot, Eddie, who dispenses a random buster edit; sometimes it gives him missiles, sometimes it gives him the Megaball, sometimes a random item, etc.) Crap, I don't know. The later incarnations of Megaman have better potential for moves. Why don't you guys try coming up with this stuff?
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

As mentioned before, B would be his normal buster, which could be charged, not sure if it would be cheap if you could charge while on the move, but hell, that would be the most logical thing... Left/Right+B Could be mapped with a Rockball or something, one of the three projectiles he could throw in Marvel vs. Capcom. Up+B would be a simple recovery move, not too far off of Fox's recovery move. He could have boosters under his feet. Or he could call Beat like one of his other supers in Marvel vs. Capcom Down+B could be that Whirlwind move he had in Megaman 8 (one of the few I played), which I think he also had in Marvel vs. Capcom, I think it was called Tornado Hold. His super could be his same super in Marvel vs. Capcom where he goes supersize and launches like 50 missles that cover the screen. EDIT: Some pics::
How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah, but that Megaman is long dead as I stated before... I think they'd put in a more recent incarnation of him than the classic one.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
As for his attacks, I think most of his A moves can be pulled out of MvC, since that's also a Capcom property with the movelist of a Capcom character. His B attacks can be mostly boss abilities, and in that sense, he would have more than enough moves for the creators to draw from. How ya doing, buddy? |
Well, yeah, but Snake's case is different. That MGS1/2 version of Snake is the one that people are most familiar with. It's not his most recent outfit but it's his most frequent.

You know, if Megaman does indeed become apart of the official roster, I bet they'll end up using the Battle Networks version of Megaman or BN's stupid spin off, Ryusei or whatever the hell it's called...
I hope to hell that isn't going to be the case. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

...as long as its not a Megaman derived from the artwork for megaman on the NES carts I think i'll be good. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I doubt they'd use any Megaman but the ones from the main series. Battle Network is just an unrelated spinoff and from what I've seen it's not doing that great by itself. I'm fairly sure they'd use the titular character himself instead of this other lackluster incarnation.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Been a while since I've posted on this thread. If Megaman ends up getting put in there, it should either be his original version or his X version. As for the whole "slowing down" part, I'd prefer that they didn't do it that way. I've played Melee countless times with my buddies and that's what I'm used to. I couldn't stand to go back to the original N64 speed.
Has there been any news of new levels or new characters (like Sonic) or maybe even a new trailer? If not, then I suppose they'll make us wait till E3. Also, here's a thought. I remember that some characters from Melee were going to be removed from the roster for Brawl. Which ones would you like to see removed from the roster? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I would prefer the duplicate characters to be removed and relegated to different costumes instead (Doctor Mario, I'm lookin' at you.)
What I think would be really nice is if a different costume gave you an extra power or possibly a handicap. For instance if you give Mario the Dr. Mario costume he can toss Megavitamins at opponets but it might downgrade is jumping ability or something like that. Something like that would add a lot to the playability and strategizing of the characters. I.E. Black and white Kirby has all the powers of regular kirby, but he can't steal powers much like in the original game. FELIPE NO

The clone characters just need to have individual moves, that's all. Those that can't differentiate themselves from the character they're cloning should be removed, ie Dr. Mario, Young Link.
Pichu should be replaced with a more worthy pokemon. Marth/Roy will most likely be replaced by two new FE characters, with one hopefully retaining some aspects of Marth and Roy, while the other one being a different class altogether. Falco could be differentiated, but perhaps Krystal would be better? And Ganondorf could take his TP form into Brawl. I think I read somewhere that Ice Climbers and G&W were getting the boot. I celebrate the decision to exclude Ice Climbers, since they weren't really significant in Nintendo history. G&W getting the boot is a bit sad really, but from the trailers it seems Wario might be the character who has "spiritually succeeded" G&W with his limited frame-like movements... Jigglypuff has become by second most use character ever since I mastered the Sleep move. They'd better not remove her!!! What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I think their super moves would change drastically as well...
Reiteration: Sonic can go choke on dick. Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ehh... that whole idea about different "costumes" giving the characters subtle changes in their stats seem kind of cheap. They shouldn't do anything except give them a new look and nothing else.

That's exactly what I said, goddammit. I just said "there's no stats screen", I know there's still invisible coefficients and things, it's just that the absence of a stats screen means beginner players shouldn't really worry about them.

I'm with NovaX as I am actually helping to design the game and that's not how it works at all. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl we've implemented a cosplay feature of sorts. Basically instead of trophies this time you get various costume pieces. With the amount of on-board memory the Wii has you can save costume mix and match-ups that you earn for any character you want. If you want Solid Snake to wear Princess Peach's dress and Fox's scanner it's your thing to do provided you've stumbled upon them in our revamped Adventure mode that we call Smash Quests or earned it from Luigi's Casino or Waluigi's Pawn Shop. We actually though about doing Tom Nook's or Redd's since Animal Crossing is all the rage in Japan but that would have interfered and confused people with the big plans for the Animal Crossing Channel. Also, Wii 24 Connect will be providing a whole mess of awesome updates that I'm sure will keep you enjoying this game and others for years to come. =)))

There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Speaking of pictures! Camera mode is back but this time you can save all your pictures and even movie footage (SD card-only feature for movie footage) to SD cards or the Wii to send to your Wii friends via the bulletin board or just upload to the Internet via a computer and your SD card. =)
