Very solid. A good slab of brutal technical death metal, though they don't have many of the atmospheric elements that made In Their Darkened Shrines so good. It doesn't disappoint.

Long time no see, metal thread. <3

Anyway, any recommendations in regards to good death metal bands? Preferably ones that don't blast endlessly from start to finish. I have enough of those. Maybe something like Funebre and/or Unleashed?
Luciferion, Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel, Behemoth, Arghoslent, the Darkthrone debut, Dismember and Possessed are among my favourites, but you probably know them already. More death/thrash but I'm very fond of Torture Squad from Brazil, too (shits all over nu-Sepultura for certain).

Wow, really? I can't seem to get into that one and I like a good portion of their discography. Their new album is pretty solid. Vouching for the Keeper albums as well, but took some time to get used to Kiske's voice. "I'm Alive" and "Save Us" (along with "We Damn the Night" from Dark Ride) are probably my favorite Helloween songs.

Also loving Edguy...Hellfire Club is one of my favorite albums of all-time.
That's it, I'm revoking your right to use this avatar. You aren't metal enough. :P

I keed, but seriously, while I enjoy some later Helloween, Walls of Jericho shits all over the rest, for one obvious reason: it has balls.

Well, consider my favorite band is probably Poison...

*ducks*

...or at least their first 3 albums.

*ducks again*

The "Talk Dirty to Me" riff is like the only thing I can play on the guitar right now. ;p

Helloween was my introduction to power metal, but I much prefer Gamma Ray, Dragonforce, Edguy, Power Quest and Machinae Supremacy right now. Still taking in Primal Fear one dose at a time (Metal is Forever = <3) and just came across Astral Doors and their Dio soundalike a few days ago.

Yeah, I'm familiar with most of those bands already, except Dismember, I think. Shall check them out.

Ahaha, Torture Squad FUCKING OWNS.

And Bolt Thrower too. <33333 BT.

I like Bloodbath. I only have Resurrection Through Carnage though damn I love the guitar tone! It really sounds like chainsaw and the riffs are pretty damn catchy and at times sound appropriate in a slasher flick.

Check out Like An Ever Flowing Stream by Dismember. A classic of the genre, and worthy of the name.

Has anyone had a listen to Meshuggah's ObZen yet? I only realised it was available last night, and decided to order it.

I've been listening to the Buried Inside album that KrelEN posted in the MEC months ago, and it's pretty damned good. <3 minimalist metal with hardcore screaming.

How ya doing, buddy?
It was lunchtime at Wagstaff.
Touching butts had been banned by the evil Headmaster Frond.
Suddenly, Tina Belcher appeared in the doorway.
She knew what she had to do.
She touched Jimmy Jr's butt and changed the world.

Yup. I bought that last night and it's pretty awesome.

Also picked up:

Abigail Williams - Legend (probably not too popular here, but it was only $6 and I like them)
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (They had the rereleased Iron Maiden CDs on sale for 10 bucks)
Sodom - Agent Orange

and in the mail I finally got Agalloch - White EP and Island - Orakel. I'm set for music for a while.

I need to get some Dismember.

I obtained (ok, downloaded) Arghoslent's 2008 album "Hornets of the Pogrom" and I'm listening to it as I type this. It's quite enjoyable, actually. I like the riffage.

They do know how to write some killer riffs, don't they? I hear that their album before this one ("Incorrigible Bigotry") is full of even better riffs, but I haven't been able to track that one down yet.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah I feel that one is a bit better than their newer one. However it sounds like that Hornets of Pogrom follows a similar path that Incorrigible Bigotry has, such as song structure and album layout.

So I finally got to listen to the underrated Incubus. The death/thrash metal band, not the mainstream rock band. And no not that Incubus but this one.

This is really some great death/thrash metal. Sure the lyrics are very much Christian influenced but the music is fucking awesome.

Hey guys, I found another great Russian pagan metal band! I liking it a lot and been listening to it since I downloaded it last night. Nevid' was formed by members of Butterfly Temple, so they kinda sound like Butterfly Temple, Arkona, and maybe Alkonost (but not that folky).

It's great man!

Thanks, downloading. (Edit: no I'm not, Megaupload is... down? )

I'm hearing the new Testament now. And I got the new Moonsorrow too, both from Bunalti.com | Sharing Our Pain if anyone's interested. I hope neither disappoint too much...

Edit: WTF, I just copied the URL and it generated that link without asking me... stupid vBulletin.

Wow, the song N°9 (Мокоши Прядь Храню) is freaking awesome. I specially love the part from 1:10 to 1:31.

That reminds me, can you guys recommend any good russian band with a female vocal? Not necessarily she has to be the main voice.

Or something simmilar to Faktor Straha?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
