Speaking of the OST, listening to it right now and it's pretty nice!
Especially digging the bonus Black Mages track Final Battle ^_^ I was speaking idiomatically. |

I'm not getting this game till Christmas unfortunately, oh well I'm not paying for it :P It looks great and the whole WI-FI thing has me a bit on edge though most likely I won't participate in the mognet thingie. Oh well. Can't wait till I get the game.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
So what if I am weird...? At least I'm different. After all it's better to be remembered weird then not be remembered at all.

Anyone get this yet? How is it? I'm wondering if I should go buy it... $40.

Well, it is essentially the same game you may or may not have played for the nes, but it looks and sounds tremendously better. The differences are very minor, the difficulty is exactly the same. If you enjoy masochistic games (no save points in dungeons, period!) then I would say, give it a chance.
Its a good game. =p What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Minor differences? I heard that they made pretty big changes to a lot of the classes. Isn't that true?
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
I got the game today. I have not played extensively yet. A few gripes though.
-High encounter rate. But seriously, it's a 1990 RPG, what do you want. -Lots and LOTS of times where the top screen is blank. There's just no excuse for it in battles, where they should've devoted the entire top screen to the battle graphics and the bottom screen to health/mp/your battle choices. This seriously seriously seriously infuriates me. Other times are more excusable but still dumbfounding; if you're in an area without a map the top screen is blank. What?! With these exceptions it seems to be standard Final Fantasy fare. I look forward to playing more... even though I'm sorely disappointed in the poor use of the dual screens. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Otherwise, it's the same game, but with more detailed characters. Also, the Job System doesn't start as soon as it did originally, but that's because you have to go around collecting your party. Treasure chests are in the same place, NPCs say the same stuff, and the world is laid out the same way. While I like having the touch interface, I wish they would've moved the command bar to the right side (or give you a choice for lefties). I don't really get to see my characters during battle since my hand is in the way. I also wish you could put the Menu and Zoom buttons on the same side. Other than that, I'm happy that this game has finally been released here. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I can't wait to get this game. I ordered it on Amazon so I should be getting it by next weekend. I would have gotten it at EB but I figured that saving $8 was worth it.

I just gave this game a try. I don't like it. At all.
Every five fucking steps you take there's a random battle. Everything's pixellated and everyone looks like midgets. The towns are pixellated and the DS doesn't do 3D very well. On the plus side, the introduction is pretty nice. But this doesn't make up for the random battles and pixellation. I'm not a graphics whore myself, but this is just ugly. You're better off buying Contact, Children of Mana, Yoshi's Island, or whatever else. Hell, I'd recommend Magical Starsign over this. This just isn't entertaining whatsoever. You're better off downloading a translated version of the original Final Fantasy III which was unreleased outside of japan. At least then you'd understand it and have the original game, instead of a revamped title. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
lol opinions. I'm gonna assume you weren't big on gaming on the PSX, cause not many games on it looked any better than this. This game actually has cleaner textures than FF7~9, but the game is done entirely in 3D instead of 3D with 2D backdrops so it does look a little worse zoomed out.

I like the game so far ^_^
Here's my FFIII friend's code: 494005359566 Send me some mail~ and let's give this WiFi thing a try ^_^ What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Add mine too & I will. We both need to have each others codes to send\receive. Already added a bunch, but hey, still some spots left and helping people get the bonuses is always good. (Already unlocked them for myself)

I don't run into randon encounters every 5 or 10 steps, most of the time I go like 20+ before I get into a battle. I don't find it bad at all.
And there is an option to change it from right handed to left handed in the config. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
And my friend code is 240602313427 Edit: Okay, I'm confused. Why are your codes showing up gray and not allowing me to send you mail? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Like I said, both people need to exchange friends codes. I don't get why it's like that, but it is. lol. D:
How ya doing, buddy? |
Do we need to do this simultaneously or do we just have to register each other's code?

Try not to spoil anything, because I'm still not that far yet - where do you have to go to get Mognet started?
Double Post:
You're flat-out wrong, this game is beautiful for the DS. In fact thanks to the art style I'd say it's beautiful to begin with. But I'm just waiting for some nasty bosses and summons to show up before I can make that claim officially. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Except, ff7, 8 and 9 are even more pixelated. The only difference, like I said, is the backgrounds are static 2D ones; while the models themselves are actually quite a bit more jaggy.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Why are you arguing about graphics for a DS game? And a remake of a NES game at that? It looks like shit, but who cares? It's still playable.
Edit: And someone send me a friggin' letter already! How ya doing, buddy?

I'm not much for portable rpgs, but this one I like.

I bought this last night at work and played an hour or so of it today.
It's fun so far and especially adorable (Arc in particular... he's got freckles! ^___^). It bugs me a bit that you can't buy phoenix down so I hope raise or some other white magic equivalent is given as an option in the not-too-far future. I accidentally wasted 2 of my 3 phoenix downs because I forgot that shops don't sell it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sup GFF faggots, who can't handle shit? |
I am enjoying this particular FF, and I normally hate FF due to their element. I am quiet surprised how I am able to enjoy this game with random battle every 1 step.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeh, there are definitely a lot of random battles. I'm still miffed about the lack of pheonix downs being sold in shops... :/ I hope they come as loot from monsters because I'd hate to have to rely only on my mages for raise and/or scour treasure chests for them.
This game is a bit tougher than its cutesy exterior would lead you to believe... Most amazing jew boots
