I'm on EST and starting tommorrow I'll accept battles from anyone who wants to set them up with me. I'm usually available 2pm-9pm on my work days and my days off are Tuesday and Saturday. I have AIM but if you want to set up a time you're better off PMing me since if I'm playing Age of Conan I won't have AIM open.

How ya doing, buddy?

I have a battle report to submit. Not to rub it in, but..

Icy's streak has been ended by Normal!

Spoiler:

Final Score: 3-1 Josiah

----

Round 1 (6v6):

Josiah managed to sweep half of Icy's team with his first pokemon, but then Icy's fourth managed to endure a first hit and then proceeded to mop the floor with Josiah's team.

Josiah: 6 lost, 3 defeated
Icy: 3 lost, 6 defeated

----

Round 2 (3v3):

Josiah lost a first pokemon to Icy, but then managed to make a comeback and sweep all three. A close call at managing to survive a Rain-danced Surf, left with only 9 HP but enough to finish the job.

Josiah: 1 lost, 3 defeated
Icy: 3 lost, 1 defeated

----

Round 3 (3v3):

Complete sweep, but a repeat of last round's close call. A Rain-danced Surf again left with 9 HP, but was still able to finish.

Josiah: 0 lost, 3 defeated
Icy: 3 lost, 0 defeated

----

Round 4 (3v3):

A real nail-biter. This might have been another complete sweep had Josiah not made a very woeful miscalculation: trying to finish with another move that he forgot Icy's foe was immune to! That pokemon was lost, with the other two left to try to pick up the slack. Both were down to their last when Josiah got a very lucky break. The rain came, Surf was imminent, and out of desperation Josiah hit with Ice Beam and it crit. Super effective yes, but quite weak coming from this particular pokemon so Icy wasn't finished yet. Josiah's last managed to endure the tide from Surf and hit with another weak Ice Beam..that froze Icy. The rest is history.

Josiah: 2 lost, 3 defeated
Icy: 3 lost, 2 defeated

----

Total:
Josiah: 9 lost, 12 defeated
Icy: 12 lost, 9 defeated

Now, I do have a question about this that I'm pretty sure hasn't been answered either way, at least in this thread. Prior to Round 3 or 4 (though I'm fairly sure it was 4), I switched items on one of my pokemon. Is it okay to do that between fights? If not, I'll make it a point not to do that anymore. At the time I thought if the answer were no, it would have been stated in the opening post based on experience from prior tournaments.

...On the other hand, considering how Round 4 went down, I don't think the change made much of a difference. The switch was made on the first pokemon.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Josiah appears to be offline, so I'll provide the details of our match!

Josiah vs. Identity Crisis:

Round One (6v6):
Here I'm introduced to Josiah's dragon slayer, we'll call him Sir Kills-A-Lot. I start off with one of my walls, but my precious defense is OHKO'd thanks to Sir Kills-A-Lot's special ability. It takes down another dragon and cripples another before taken down. Then, I bring out Wyvern to seek vengeance. None of his Pokemon could bring Wyvern's HP down to 0 before it could sweep the rest of his entire team.

Round Two (3v3):
Our first Pokemon wind up going relatively nowhere, especially when his Pokemon suffers from Paralysis three turns in a row. Mine is still KO'd before his, but his Pokemon is crippled beyond safety. After his first Pokemon goes down, Sir Kills-A-Lot comes to sweep away the rest of my team.

Round Three (3v3):
Josiah brings out Sir Kills-A-Lot first. This one wasn't even close.

Round Four (3v3):
I anticipated he'd bring out Sir Kills-A-Lot first, so I brought out a Pokemon that could outlast the initial onslaught. My Pokemon kills Sir Kills-A-Lot mostly due to an error on Josiah's end but can't take down his next. His next Pokemon gets in a most unfortunate flinching against one of mine (probably the deciding factor) and takes it down. The match ends when his Pokemon freezes one of mine even though I wanted to freeze his first. D=

Match Summary:
Josiah wins 3-1!
Josiah loses 9 Pokemon
Identity Crisis loses 12 Pokemon.

EDIT: Oh, ha, he came back. I'm still not going to delete this. I already spent some minutes typing it out.

So Icy is not invincible =O

Hey Josiah, I'll be available to do a match tomorrow afternoon or evening. Is that alright?

Now, I do have a question about this that I'm pretty sure hasn't been answered either way, at least in this thread. It's ok to switch out hold items between matches. The only thing I expect you guys not to do is switch out your movepool to give yourself an advantage. That's why you're allowed to bench three more team members.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Heh, it's all good Icy, you provided a few details I forgot. Plus for some reason Round 4 was already getting foggy in my memory and you were able to clear that up. Same deal with Round 2.

EDIT: Yeah, I should be able to in the afternoon, Kai. It'll have to be early/mid afternoon though as I've got something important in the evening. Just remember I'm on EST.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Kai got too sucked into Dr. Mario Rx last night for he and I to play today, so we might give it a go tomorrow if our schedules are free enough.
DarkMageOzzie's title under his av gave me an idea. What if we all did a theme for this tourney with "<type> Trainer" or "<type> Gym Leader" for titles and some Pokemon of that type for an av and a matching sig linking to the thread? The Pokemon avatars wouldn't necessarily have to be a Pokemon we actually use, just maybe some non-legendary commonly associated with that type, such as Charizard for Fire, Dragonite for Dragon, etc.

It's just a thought, but I have been contemplating a change of av/sig and it'd be a nice one. Not quite sure what I'd have for the sig, though. Maybe some combination of the Gamingforce banner and the Pokemon logo with "GYM BATTLERS OPEN" on it somewhere?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oooh, that's a fun idea. I could even go back to the av/sig I was using about a week ago. :3

Anyway, Ozzie, I think I added your AIM to my list, but for some reason, Miranda absolutely WILL NOT connect to my account. I have no idea why. It was fine the other day, and then all the sudden it stopped working. I'll try to figure it out by then, but if not I'll PM you here and we can go from there.

This was a quick job at what I was thinking for a sig if we did this. I'm not great at this kind of thing, so if someone else with the skills feels like it, they can run with this idea.

I'm thinking about it. So it'd be like a pseudo-ava/sig theme week? That'd be cool. I was thinking every participating member could put in a low-profile sig to show what gym he or she represents. With a little photoshopping that won't be too hard to make it for all 17 types. But I'll leave it up to the person if they want to change their avatar too =o.

I'd participate. I like the ava/sig I already have going, but the theme, uh, unspecified amount of time should definitely get me out of my recent design lethargia. I might even make a custom badge sprite for myself if I can muster up the creativity.

Or we could make it Pokeforce: let me show you them.

I'll probably see if I could make myself a badge or something soon. That would be an interesting project.

The little open space above "Gym Battlers Open" could be used to insert a small iimage of a pokemon of the person's type for individualized sigs.

Anyhow, I'm off to sleep. Aside from my match tommorrow, I also need to drop my 360 off at UPS so it can get repaired.

The gym theme sigs sound great too, but silly me even after the Brawl theme week is still gimped with GIMP for image editing. I haven't the foggiest why it seemed to think the Pokemon logo's traditional shade of yellow was this more sandstone-type color, even when I tried filling it.

DarkMageOzzie vs Sousuke

Spoiler:
All matches were 3v3
Round 1 - Winner Sousuke
Ozzie: 3 lost, 2 defeated
Sousuke: 2 lost, 3 defeated

Round 2 - Winner Sousuke
Ozzie: 3 lost, 1 defeated
Sousuke: 1 lost, 3 defeated

Round 3 - Draw

This match was interesting because it was basicly a fluke, I was trying to be silly because I figured I already lost anyhow. I started the match with a Beedrill that had a quickclaw and proceeded to start off with double team. Then I took down his first Pokemon since he couldn't hit me. Then there was some fighting back and forth. Came down to our last two Pokemon, mine was almost beat when his last one came out so I used Explosion knocking us both out.

Ozzie: 3 lost, 3 defeated
Souske: 3 lost, 3 defeated

Round 4 - Rematch of Round 3 Sousuke wins
Ozzie: 3 lost, 1 defeated
Sousuke: 1 lost, 3 defeated

Total - Winner Sousuke
Ozzie: 12 lost, 7 defeated
Sousuke: 7 lost, 12 defeated

Kairyu vs DarkMageOzzie

Awesome, I got to do a match today =D

Battle Report:
Round 1 (6v6):
When I saw his first pokemon my initial thought was, "I'm screwed." I'm not exactly built to handle the combos he was about to deal. Luckily for me my evasion tactics gave me one turn to go more the offensive. I won with three pokemon able to battle.

Round 2 (3v3):
Ack, I was status affected D:
Not much happened here, I lost one pokemon due to a certain agent from Ozzie but my combo was well in progress. A quick and dirty win for me again.

Round 3 (3v3):
Tartarus practically dominated the entire battle here but gave out on Ozzie's last Pokemon. Still, I finished it up with a grand avalanche from hell.

Match Summary:
Kairyu wins 3-0!
Kairyu loses 5 Pokemon
DarkMageOzzie loses 12 Pokemon.

On a slightly unrelated note, Kairyu and I have been designing gym badges. Kairyu has drawn the design concepts, and I've converted the sketches into sprites. If anybody is interested in having one for their own type specialty, feel free to contact either of us and submit some sort of design prerequisite for us to follow by.

Here are a couple of examples:
(Dragon)
(Ground)

They're relatively small, so they could easily fit in signature space without taking up too much room.

Close enough, Pang. It associates itself with darkness which is the type I got, so it works out. <_<

Honestly, I had no idea about the symbol as I just downloaded it in a font pack. Ironically, it worked out and now I have a nickname for my Mightyena.
