I'll take Edge's word over 10s of american gamesite and magazine editors any day, yes. These are the same people who already have a 9.8 review written for both MGS4 and Gears of War because holy shit that's what their readers expect to see. It's not like they said the controls suck, you could read the article before you try passing their opinion over as somehow insignificant.

But since you don't have Edge there, here's what the said (after a few descriptions of the story's opening and mechanics):

Quote:
It's almost forbidding. Twilight Princess is certainly no populist rethink of Zelda, in tune with the cuddly, all-access Wii. It is, instead, a determined, all-guns-blazing assault on the hardcore, a fanboy's wet dream (if there's a worry at all, it's that it may overburden itself with its kitchen-sink approach and leave some of its myriad possibilities under-exploited). That's reflected in the involved controls of the Wii version, which does not offer GameCube pad support. Though not as off-putting as they seemed in the deep-end E3 demo, when introduced gradually and relaxed into over time they are delicate, sometimes demanding and occasionally frustrating; attack gestures flow beautifully but are sticky to start, and jumping to pointer-aiming can be awkward and disorienting. However, they more than make up for it with tremendous tactile excitement, the shrill thrill of the speaker effects, and the very real and seriously welcome freedom and comfort that comes from having your hands linked by three feet of wire, not three inches of plastic. Factor in the Wii-only widescreen support - no small consideration - and it's clear which version is the must-have.

Six hours with a new Zelda game is always going to raise as many questions as it answers. Is the Twilight a parallel world of merely a present threat that's cleared as you progress? Will Link ever be able to move between the planes and his two forms at will or, as in these early stages, only when the plot triggers it? But the questions it does answer are the more important ones. Is it a challenge? Is it a mystery? Will it make your heart stop? Is it Zelda?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, after going everywhere and looking for the most ideal place to
buy the Wii (on the day of release without a pre-order), i've decided
on Costco (Price Club). I wonder if they'll have a good amount.

Where are you non-pre-orderers planning to go? Target? Walmart?

If any of your parents have a business account at costco, which my dad does, you can go before the store opens to the general public.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Most of the launch titles to me look to be more fun in multiplayer than single player. I've played excite truck, didn't have any trouble with the controls and while I don't think its the be all and end all of singleplayer, I can promise you that it'll be incredibly fun in multiplayer.

Same with Red Steel. I'm still not sold on the singleplayer, but all the multiplayer vids I've seen make it look a lot like Goldeneye. And if I can have anywhere near as much fun with it as I did with Goldeneye I'll buy it.

Well, online preorders are starting November 9th for EB Games. They are going to be selling bundles and it will cost less than $699 with tax included. How much less, the newsletter I got didn't say. Is anyone going to preorder from EB online or will you just camp out at a store. I would camp out b/c the sole reason I'm not getting a PS3 was b/c of the $599 price tag and buying one of these bundles would defeat the purpose of me saving money.

I was speaking idiomatically.

BOX ART TIME

Mostly Japanalan stuff this time.

But PAL joins in on the fun with another extremely ugly Tom Clancy cover and fruit that's clearly already fallen.

And whoa American games everyone's gonna buy watch out.

It's covercat ALL OVER AGAIN.

Too bad the Wii isn't region free, because some of those look fun. I own one of the SD Gundam Famicom games, it's neat.

I didn't say I use Edge as my primary source of game info, but I value their opinion far more than any of those websites you quoted there.
Anyway, it doesn't matter....

But I have to say that Japanese cover of Zelda rock most of my body, including my socks.

Certainly not people who don't know what it is, that's for sure.

I doubt anyone's actually using them for a primary source of info, much less opinion, but like I said, they thanked the controls just as well, so Kilroy certainly wasn't going by their words alone.

I personally decided ages ago that I'd get the cube version and I won't change my intention. I was promised two more great Gamecube games before the console's death and magically one of them got cancelled and moved to another console without so much as an official explanation, so I'll be damned if I don't get another great Zelda game for the cube.

I dunno, I like the Japanese one, but the American box wins points for being simple and brilliant at the same time. I've always loved that piece of artwork and was thrilled when they made it the box art. I think it's absolutely beautiful.

Anyway, I am. I like Shooters a lot, and Red Steel looks innovative and overall great, although I'm quite a bit worried about both the control AND that the game could still fall back into getting another average Shooter.

Red Steel has been riding the "first shown Wii title" hype that I'm a little surprised has lasted up until now. I think a lot of people said the game looked pretty bad back at E3, so one can only wonder how much they improved on it.

Still debating if I want to wait in front of TRU or BB.

BB will likely have more people, thus = more fun, but TRU is gonna be majorly overlooked. I don't want to miss out on my Wii due to a desire to be around others.

TRU is right across the street from BB for me, so I might just check out the BB line and if it's got nobody in it, I'll wait there, and go to TRU if it's insane. There's also a Wal-Mart a few blocks away, and a Circuit City I can go to as well, so I'm seeing far too many choices here!

Dammit Nintendo, you could have made this simple by not gimping the GCN version of Zelda with no 16:9 and progressive scan!

I was speaking idiomatically.

I believe there should be S-Video cables available as well for Wii at launch.

Japanese Wii Accessories

You can see that they are making a Svideo cable, so that alone brings good news/hope. What I don't understand is why Yellow/Red/White/Svideo aren't all on one cable. Sure, not everyone has a HDTV, but any decent TV has a Svideo input. And the picture difference between Svideo and Composite is night and day. Not having Svideo on the standard with system cable is a travesty. Not having component is forgivable, but no Svideo in 2006 is not.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Yes, I dunno the US boxart looks a little dull to me. The japanese really stands out more, and there is more of a contrast between the light and dark colours.

I agree NovaX. I like the brighter colors on the Japanese boxart much better. The US boxart is okay but for me since it lacks color it just doesn't stand out as much.
