[Wii] Official Nintendo Wii thread

I'm also struggling to figure out my 2nd game (the 1st one obviously being Zelda).

I'm seriously considering Metal Slug. Right now I'm 90% certain I'll get it as my 2nd game.

Unfortunately, my final budget won't support my voracity, and will only be able to get a Wii, 2 games, and an extra Wiimote+nunchuck. If I'm able to find what I want, that is.

Any EB / Gamestop insiders around here that can discuss whether or not they will come up with special bundles, and when will they be available online?

I'm getting Wii Sports at launch how about you guys. Seriously considering Wii Play at launch, it comes with a Wii controller and it's only $10 more than the controller by itself anyway. Anyway, I've been very iffy on Red Steel (many reporters didn't like the controls from what they tried) but it seems like they managed to really tweak them for the better. And then there's still Trauma Center. Deciding what the third title's gonna be sure's gonna be tough. I only hope that reviews for these games are put up online a day or so before launch.

Oh and, maybe I'm being pessimistic here, but now that launch is close and all, you might wanna ask at your local Toys 'R Us as to what this mystery free game is. Knowing retail and the way they advertise things I wouldn't be surprised if they respond with something like "WIISPORTS. COMES WITH YOUR WII SO IT'S A FREE GAME FOR YOU. FROM US. FOR FREE." =/

XD I guess I was a little late there. I've never heared of this UBI-soft game before! Good or bad, it's better than my prediction of them taking advantage of Nintendo's pack in deal. ^^;

Ok just checked on google and uh...yea...that's not the sort of title I had in mind. I wonder what none-conventional uses one can find for game cases. Or the discs themselves. I mean, I doubt anyone will actually pop that title in when they get home with their brand new Wii.

Haha, I'll probably just trade it in at EB on launch day towards something else. Along with everyone else! They'll explode from everyone wanting to trade Open Season in. But yeah after Nintendo announced they'd be including Wii Sports, everyone was sorta thinking Toys R Us would just claim that as the free game.

And yep, Wii Play for PAL regions at launch! Excite Truck for America, Wario Ware for Japan! If only everywhere got all three of those at once. Silly Nintendo. ;_;

I'm at a loss regarding what to pick too. The TV I wanted is out of stock for an indefinite period of time, so I'll have to double the dough to get the same quality in a LCD.
I was originally going to get Wii Play, Excite Trucks, Red Steel, Twilight Princess and Elebits + essentially 3 extra complete remotes.

Now I think it's down to Wii Play (for instant multiplayer fun). If I'm really really lucky, I'll sneak in Red Steel too =o
Hell, that ought to be sufficient for December anyway...

I impusively bought at 1GB SD card at a radioshack ($50-$15 rebate) which it should stay dormant until lauch since my computer doesent have a slot for one.

Are SD cards gonna be the only way to save your data on a portable device? Will the Wii have it's own memory cards, or do they reall expect me to rely only on the measly 512 megs they give you with the internal hard drive?

It wouldn't make sense why they wouldn't be compatible. SD is basically just an interface standard for flash media, and it should be very scalable.

Pretty neat trailer. The part with Elebtis was pretty crappy though. It was much too dark. You couldn't make out anything!

During the Madden NFL segment the third person on the couch was merely playing with a DS-lite. Or is that a preview of next-gen connectivity!

The DS and Wii have already been announced to interact wirelessly. So it's like the type of deal where in a baseball game, the pitcher would use the DS to aim/select pitches in secrecy.

Looks just like Goldeneye 007 in terms of gameplay. Looks like it plays JUST like Goldeneye 007 with the new wii-mote control scheme of course. Hopefully it'll be just as successful as Goldeneye 007.

So I showed up at Toys R Us earlier around 6:00pm to see if the line started. I was informed ahead of time there would be 6 PS3s and 15 Wii preorders. I should of brought my camera... 4 tents and a line of chairs at the door. At 6:00pm. The day before.

Work in the morning ruined my night! I'll have to camp for the 30 Wiis they'll have the day of.

Go! Go! Go! Get those Wii pre-orders and show those PS3ers what for. I have a feeling that Ninendo fans will outnumber the Playstation fans so if they start any trouble feel free to do a Wii dogpile on them >_0 (just kidding). I love my Playstation buddies but I think think the Nintendo crowd has grown much larger this year.

Anyway, I hope for the best for all of you and hopefully I you guys will have posted some good news when I return from work tomorrow. In the meantime (while your waiting) be nice to your Playstation counterparts b/c in the end you all are there for the same reason, to support the gaming world's top two companies (Nintendo being #1 of course ).

Yeah, same here. I called the night before and they said they only had 10 Wii pre orders to give out. I asked if anyone lined up yet and the girl laughed said yeah there are like 10 people out there now. I asked if they knew how many were there for wii she said about 4 or 5. Now, of course I didn't believe a word she said. So I drove by and around 8 on sat there were already about 14 people out there. I still came by this moarning but it was even more crowded. I had no chance. So that ruined my day and the next 4 weeks. Looks like i'll be getting a Wii on 2nd shipment. I hope SOMEONE here got the pre-order they were set out to get from TRU..

Well, no luck for me. I got there an hour before the TRU opened but there were already a lot of people in line, and I'm pretty sure some fuckass was holding like 3 spots for people. Came to find out they had 20 pre-orders for the Wii to give, no idea how many PS3 pre-orders they had. Then they started giving everyone tickets to buy an Elmo or something so I said fuck it and left.

So I guess now it's midnight at my favorite Gamestop on launch day for me.
