Actually thanks to Miles for mentioning the bestbuy sale; just picked up CoD4 thanks to it too. Too bad I got Assassin's Creed when it came out... could have saved like 23 bucks on it too. Oh well.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I ordered the game online and haven't had a chance to play it yet or else I would make a huge post detailing how awesome the game is. ;_;
Obviously I didn't mean you Milesy (although I more let yours pass since you linked to the sale).

Ok, what's with the lists and short posts again? This is your last warning because it's christmas, people
Fine:

Akumajou Dracula X Chronicles Limited Edition (Konamistyle)

This art book is fantastic, I absolutely love Koji Igarashi's art. It features all Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night art, including this legendary piece of art across two pages. The only downfall of this package is that it didn't come in a box or anything, it was lose.

The game I haven't really gotten around to play just yet. The screen protector is pretty useless, but the pouch is nice. The strap has a pixellated Richter cleaning strap attached to it.

Taiko no Tatsujin DS

Thi game pretty much ruins your touchscrene. It comes with two comical styluses which you probably aren't going to use, but they're nice. I've already beaten all of the songs on Hard, but I'm probably not going to bother with Oni mode due to 1) it's hard and 2) I thrashed the game, it's time to give it a break.

Bleach 2nd DS

I had absolutely no intention of purchasing this, but someone in my area was selling it really cheap, and I remembered it was a title from Treasure, so I bought it. Turns out it's a pretty solid game.

The Orange Box

I had no intention of buying this either, it just happened. I originally wanted it for Portal, but the real reason it was so worth it was because of TF2. TF2 fucking rules, and everyone should at least try it out once to see if they like it or not. I haven't bothered with the Half-Life games though.

Eternal Sonata ~Trusty Bell~

They finally released this in English for NTSC-J regions in November, and I've been wanting this game for a long time. The English voice acting is great, and I really like the whole feel of the game. It's quite linear, but I like that too. And on top of that, this is probably the best looking game for the 360.

American SNES

Actual picture. It's in excellent condition and didn't cost very much at all. My previous one (my first import <3) was really yellow and had a faulty power cord. This popped up so I decided to grab it. I'm surprised someone down here was selling one (and because it's American nobody wants it).

Lufia II

Another actual picture. The box isn't in great condition, but the cartridge and manual are. This actually cost more than the SNES, but I've never played the game before, and everyone continually recommended it to me, so here we go.

And.. that's it. Happy Q?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I just picked up Children of Mana a few days ago pretty cheap. Yes, I know it's a "Nu Mana", and yes, I realize it didn't get great reviews, but I'm enjoying it. The opening movie is great, and even though the gameplay and story are sorely lacking even this early, the music is awesome. I'm just trying to give it a fair chance is all.

ive been thinking of wanting to play FFII, it looks beautiful and the magic spells looked powerful. summons arent in the game right? it was in III that they were introduced.
Which version are you looking at? The PSP version is definitely the best looking, but the GBA one in FF Origins isn't too bad, either. And no, no summons in this one, just a very odd stat gain system that replaces leveling.

Luminous Arc.

+ Great characters.
+ Great Synergy attacks/Super attacks

- Story's short
- Only 25 Stages
- 1 Bonus Dungeon (with Random Generating floors)

Bottomline: Game falls short of other SRPGs, SRPGs such as;
- Disgaea 3 (PS3)
- Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (PSP)
- Jeanne d'Arc (PSP)
- Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (PSP)

Since Elixir is so damn rich he should buy this for me:

I was gonna say this is pretty cheap, but shipping is $30. I've seen limited edition stuff which is far more expensive that I'd like to buy, but won't.

That's what I hate about eBay though, everyone always does that. Half of their product cost is shoved into the postage, to make the item appear cheaper than it really is.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, but being able to see monsters (at least in some areas) and possibly the best puzzles in an RPG makes it a pretty quality game from the SNES.

You probably think Earthbound has crappy gameplay too.

Don´t bother, living as a liar isn´t that bad, as you can see looking at xiaowei ^^

Honestly, Lufia 2 is among the best RPGs for the SNES, maybe not in the same league as FFVI or Chrono Trigger, but pretty darn close. I wish they´d make gameplay-focused RPGs like that nowadays.

I bought Assassin's Creed Limited Edition for PS3 last week. Wanted the 360 version, but couldn't find it, and I wanted the LE more than any achievement points. It's pretty fun, especially when fighting a group of about 20 guards at the same time. I don't really get the point of flag collecting when there isn't an achievement tied to it though. Oh well.

Then I got Uncharted: Drakes Fortune for christmas. It's really cool. I like the characters and the setting of the game a lot. It is almost as though they were going to do Indiana Jones and the Tropical Island, but then got the license got taken away, so they had this lush tropical world, with this Indiana Jones adventure built, and gave us a still pretty cool and likeable hero. First PS3 game worth its price.

And unfortunately I bought Guitar Hero III for the 360 today. The backstory: Sunday, I was over at a friend's house and his stepdad had just opened his GH3 for his PC. He and my friend were in there playing around with it, but complaining that it wasn't acting right. Since I am the only professional computer tech in the building, I get to take a look. I had never in my life played Guitar Hero. I play a song, find that it doesn't respond when I actually play. So I play another song, taking video lag into account, hitting the buttons ahead of where they are displayed on screen. So I set the visuals lower, play a song, dominate it and unfortunately enjoy it. Now I have Guitar Hero III. It's cool how the guitar is a Les Paul, and I own a real Les Paul that I use to play real guitar with. When I get home from work, I will see how terrible I am at higher than Medium difficulty.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Went out and bought a few things yesterday.

The Classic Controller was one. I had wanted one for some time, but I never felt like the purchase would be warranted. However, since I've become enamored with Geometry Wars: Galaxies lately, I wanted to give the traditional control scheme a whirl. Wiimote controls are actually pretty fun, but I was getting my ass handed to me when things got really hectic, in part because I was unable to see my guiding laser as well as I needed to.

The controller is far from Nintendo's best design, but it's still pretty good. The buttons feel perfect when they're depressed (not too loose or too clicky), and it's good to see a big d-pad with Nintendo's traditional/patented "plus" design. Having trouble getting used to the lack of analog buttons, but the sticks themselves are fine. The octagon shape for the analog borders (whatever they're called) are a mixed bag. They help you move or fire precisely in any of those eight directions, but are a bit imprecise outside of them. Still, the controller makes it much easier for me to play A Link to the Past. Works good with Galaxies too, of course.

Contact for the DS, my second purchase. I bought this game used back in February or so, but quickly returned it when I felt the game didn't justify the price I paid for it. Now that the game is under $20 at Gamestop, I happily snatched it up and added it back into my collection again.

The game's choice in art and music direction made for a pretty bizarre atmosphere, but I was very pleased with it. Combat leaves a bit to be desired, mostly because it's like a slightly inferior form of Final Fantasy XII's, but also lacking in other party members to control. Still, the choice to have statistics level up independently of one another was brilliant, and it's like a lighthearted Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in that regard. Very pleased to have it back and give it the time it deserves.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

My mom told me the story of christmas shopping for me this year. She went to EB games, and couldn't decided which to get me, Mario Galaxy, or Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. In the end i opened up a present to find Phoenix Wright under the tree.

Call me greedy, but i sort of wish i hadn't put that one on my list, as it's the cheaper of the two games i put on my list this year. As a starving university student, and future starving artist, i need to be saving money. This will either hurt my tuition, or have to get nixed this year, neither of which is something i want to do.

I put mostly books on my list this year, so hence the short list of gaming related stuff.

I was the same as you. I judged GH series as being shit before i played them because i als play real guitar. Then i went over to a buddys and he had GHII going and i tried it and liked it and then bought the games and became hooked.

What this guy said. You, Mr. Xiao, are the fucking liar. Lufia II had tremendous game play, and it was an absolute blast. One of the best SNES RPGs, and that's saying something.

ANYWAY. Moving on to purchases.

Brave Story PSP - Seems fun, I haven't really played much of it. The opening is ok, plays like an old school JRPG. I enjoyed what little I got into on it.

Castlevania the Dracula X Chronicles PSP - Sexy. I don't know how else to describe it. I loved these games back in the day, and I still love them now.

Front Mission DS - Haven't even opened it. But it's FM. I get to blow shit up with mechs in turn based battle systems. What more do you need?

Legend of Zelda the Phantom Hourglass DS - Haven't played it, but it came with a huge, pretty hardcover guide. So I'm happy.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Um...

For Christmas, I got Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. A very good rail shooter, with fairly good graphics. It's one of those games you have to play with other people. Otherwise, alone, you're fucked. Me and my friend got through the first half while me and my brother got through the second half.

Basically now, I'm just trying to beat the side missions and stuff.

I've also picked up Ghost Squad in essence of getting a Wii Zapper for Christmas along with RE:UC. The game itself is a lot of fun especially with the whole profile aspect and the game getting harder as you play the game and beat it. For some odd reason, I still can't beat the Jungle mission on Level 1... That damn boss...

Every battle was a torture. Sure, IP techs were an interesting concept that became "limit breaks" and whatnot. Capsule monsters were a curio at the start but became pretty boring at the end. The only saving grace was the puzzles and there weren't enough. The story was also not as interesting as FFVI, which was released a year earlier.

Actually, if we're going by English releases, Rise of the Sinistrals was two years after FFVI (each released in August 1996 and October 1994), which is a real shame, too. Lufia II was probably inferior to FFVI in just about every way except maybe dungeon design, but it was still a pretty solid game despite no one knowing who Neverland was or what business they had making RPGs. I didn't play it when it first came out, but personally it kinda surprised me with how good it turned out.

I got Dawn of Mana for Christmas, mostly because I just had to see for myself what everyone was calling the end of the Mana series. Overall, I'm disappointed - the game plays more like a tech demo for the Havoc engine than an epic Action RPG, but the novelty of playing a Mana game in full 3D is still really something. 3D rabites hopping along on their 3D bellies, 3D goblins throwing their 3D axes at you, all to Kenji Ito's score featuring orchestrated tunes from some of the newer Mana games. If there were more substance to the game's style, it'd be an instant classic, but there's nothing too phenominal under all the fluff. If you just gotta play it, get it used.

And I know I said I bought Children of Mana a few posts up, and, just, as a follow-up, it turned out much better than I thought. Not as good as the classics, but not horrible either. The soundtrack also really kicks. I guess World of Mana wasn't a *complete* bust, but I haven't player Heroes yet.

This Christmas season's latest LOOT Gifts:

- Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Wii)
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
- Super Paper Mario (Wii)
- Radatia Stories (PS2)
- Phantom Dust (Xbox)

Next on my plans for purchases will include Metroid Prime 3, Xenosaga 3, Tales of The Abyss, The Classic Controller, Brawl in February, Possibly DOA4, and the 360 Naruto Game (It looks fun, but too pricey for an Anime game). This of course can change wildly at any time. OH and Skies of Arcadia since Miles' post just reminded me.

I didn't ask for any games this year. The last game I purchased was Call of Duty 4 for 360 on release date. I also bought a 512mb memory card shortly after that. Seeings as how my xbox is getting repaired at the moment, I should be catching up on RPGs I've been neglecting, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hooray for Gamestop and their Buy 2 Get 1 Free Used Games deal.

Firstly, the yearly basketball game of NBA 2K8. I just realized I need to at least play one sports game per year and have the satisfaction of having a custom player dominate Association Mode. This is for the PS2, btw.

Next, I finally had the chance to pick up Odin Sphere. This board has said many a good thing about this game, and it was $35 and I had the money to pick it up with, so why the hell not? I still have yet to try it, but I expect nothing but great things from it, minusing the loading times.

And my free game was Draglade for the DS. I kinda chose it off whim since the game looked pretty interesting. As far as playing it, it's fun, but I still need to get a little further at it. And hopefully this won't be the game that kills my L button... It's pretty much been the recurring cause of why I need to get a new DS ever year. <_<

I would've chosen Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner as my free game, but it was too late before I realized it was there. Until next time...

So how have you guys been goin' with it's boxing day wow we'd better clear shit/it's January wow we'd better clear shit from last year sales? =o I really shouldn't be buying games at the moment considering I've got a $3000 dental fun time ahead next week, but.. but so cheap!

Got Disgaea 2 brand new today for $9, reduced from $80. It's still sitting in the shrink wrap, in a state of shock. Pity it was the only copy they had! Man it even comes with a music CD, that never happens here. Unless it's called Killer Instinct. KILLAH CUTS.

RAB reminded me that a new Sega Rally existed, which I'd somehow forgotten about (probably because I don't pay much attention to anything Sega related anymore ;_; ) and that it was 60% off at JB (oh yeah, we have EB's and JB's, feel the sting!) But it's surprisingly AMAZING. Total arcade bliss, Sega Racing Studios' has done a great job! I totally put the music from the Saturn Sega Rally on the 360's hard drive and race to it. Also Daytona USA's music, just to confuse myself. BLUE BLUE SKIIIIIIIES.

While I was there I noticed Eternal Sonata was also 60% off and I was like fuck you sales. It'll probably sit around for ages before I get around to it, but at least I can sleep at night knowing the dust has somewhere to go. Also EB's reduced basically every pre-owned PS2/GC/Xbox/something game to $15, so that sounded like a good price for nutmeg. And for Eternal Darkness. Yeah, I've never played it. =o The case is disgusting, open it up and there's like all this dried yogurt everywhere. .. I hope it's yogurt. That's me done for 2008 see you next year!

Was my latest purchase a week before the close of 2007. Which the enemies had this annoying habbit of doing a pincer attack. Which they'd surround the weak fighter from both sides and they would overall get KOed permanantly.

Top 6 Characters (ones that need help from time-to-time with healing)
- Boyd
- Black Knight
- Ike
- Tauroneo
- Sothe (like Boyd, Sothe too also succumbs to spell attacks)
- Volke
