Man oh Man, I really really want to pick up my copy quick and then get out come release day before angry mobs rush into the store and get confused between those two games, then later rush in before Xmas to try to get the new "Playstation Three Wii".

I just got done watching the trailer for FFXII with English voice overs - sounds pretty promising thus far. Also, as for people concerned about release dates, it has officially been street dated - for October 31st. Gamestop (at least the one I work for) is going to be holding a midnight release of the game. Anyhoo, I'm getting my copy of release day - I might be working that night. Collector's Edition along with the Limited edition strategy guide.

What comes with the limited edition guide?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh, these little extras like anything from a poster to extra character art . I remember that Xenosaga Episode II's L.E guide came with a soundtrack CD containing half of the tracks from the Movie Scene OST. The same was like with BradyGames' Soul Calibur III OST.

I hope it's an artbook. I love artbooks, and they are nice things to put on living room tables for when you have company.

Nice! I got a nice message on my voice mail today. I returned the call immediately. The dude at EB games said they've finally got a SKU for the CE just today, and I said for them to immediately move my preorder from the regular edition to the CE, and they said I'm first in line! They said they've got like 40 some preorders for the regular edition, and said that was "a lot". I don't know how many preorders would be considered "big", but I'm guessing something like Halo 2 would have rocked that particular stores socks off.

Then he dropped the bomb.

<Spatula>"So...it comes out on the 31st right?"

<EBDude> "Ah no no no ...it got pushed back"

<Spatula - OH SHI-> "uhhh...okay ...then...??"

<EBDUDE> "November 1st. We'll have it in stock for sure by then."

<Spatula> Phew!

So not bad, actually. Now I don't have to wade through crowds of Naruto cosplayers and shit in the mall. Plus it gives me an extra day to work on VP2. .

I work for an entertaimment store and by law the new releases should be IN store between 3 or 4 days before the release date. In the uk most of the games are release on friday so I get my new releases on monday or tuesday.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Definitely not the law in the US. I worked at EB, and we got games the day after the ship date unless there were a lot of preorders, and we'd get it on the ship date.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the date companies give is the SHIP date. That is NOT the date that you will get the game 90% of the time. Expect the day after.

I heard the same thing as well when I talked to the guy. Whatever, 1 day, 2 days delay.

Hmm.
I suppose this is the game most likely to ruin my exams.
It's probably worth the sacrifice though. It got a perfect Famitsu score, didn't it?

I suppose I'll work my arse off now so I can play it when it comes out.

Which may be a few years, considering the PAL region seems to never get games on time. Grrr.

Yeah, IIRC, it got a 40/40. Some folks said it was because the power of moneybags, but given how badly Famitsu slammed Dirge, and the fact that Matsuno's previous games are just as good make it a bit more believable in my eyes.

Well the moneybags for Dirge only insured that Famitsu's review for the game hit news stands after the game had hit shelves and already cashed in on the FFVII brand.

Someone over at SA claming to be a QA Tester for Square-Enix had this to say about the English localisation for FFXII:
Quote:
In the english translation, they are going to spell Magic, Magick, and the skills/techniques, Technicks. Why? I have no clue. In the game most words that end in the -c or -q sound will be spelled with -ck."
Mistnacks are also called "Mist Quickenings" which is a sight more better than 'Knacks.

Wow, they're really going for that authentic medieval touch with the spelling of Magick (it was spelled that way in Vagrant Story, too). Still, it's kind of silly to do this so late into the FF series though, but it would help if they came up with fancy names for the trademark spells too.

Erm, I have nothing else to add to this post. I'm looking forward to the localization.

Carry on.

Erm, when I see the word "Quickening", Highlander 2 pops into my head.

Now I get to imagine Vaan screaming "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!" after every mist quickening attack.

I'm sorry, but that Highlander does not exist, just like 4. There is only Highlander and Highlander 3, ergo, you cannot enter any Highlander 2 information on this discussion...

More FFXII Play Arts from Kotobukiya at SDCC. Now the list of characters being made is Vaan, Ashe, Judge Gabranth, and Balthier. Vaan and Balthier finished, with Ashe and Gabranth in prototype (well, unpainted anyway).

rah i'll say the same thing, i want them all XD even if I jumped of exicment when you said Jufge I'm a little disappointed, it look kind of small XD (and it's not my favorite judge XD)

I don't know the other one look better. Oh and they seem to make more effort on the head, the Vaan and Baltier look very good!

The judge looks small because the camera is farther away from that than the Ashe/Balthier shots. Still, this looks better than the FFVII AC stuff.
