Rush is a fantastic band, but I don't think they're metal at all. Hard rock at the most, but they were prog for a few albums.

Amon Amarth is really boring, imo. :| I could never ever get into viking metal.
But that's just me.

I've started to delve into more electrometal and electrogrind type bands (Genghis Tron, An Albatross, etc) but a friend recently introduced me to Moi dix Mois, and I've been getting more into Strapping Young Lad as of late.

Moi dix Mois? Isn't that a Japanese band? Do they sound like Dir en Grey?

Moi dix Mois is indeed a japanese goth-rock-metal band. Admittedly, they have quite a few songs that are harder than your run-of-the-mill visual kei jrock group...I happen to like some of their stuff. Example: Vizard

I really don't think they sound much like Diru at all. Maybe on some songs, but in general they have more in common with Malice Mizer and their ilk.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Any Trauma fans? They're a really good Polish death metal act, and pretty obscure at that. Imperfect Like a God is like one of my favorite albums of all time.

Exciting news for Therion fans, they're going to be playing a show in Romania backed by a full orchestra, choir and international opera stars. There will be pure orchestral covers of their songs, covers by great composers featuring the orchestra and Therion and classic songs backed by the full orchestra. More info here.

I really hope that this is being filmed. This sounds like a once in a life time opportunaty, which I'll unfortunately miss. If not offical footage, maybe some bootlegs.

You do realize that Amon Amarth is melodic death metal, not viking, right?

God, I wish Therion were coming here.
No, scratch that -- I wish I were in the orchestra they hired to play for them. Seriously now. I would do that just as much as play in the Cleveland Symphony.

I just download these albums:

Empyrium - Songs of Moors and Misty Fields
Equilibrium - Turis Fratyr
Ultima Thule - Yggdrasil (I'm surprised this one isn't in metal-archives yet, they're somewhat folk rock)

So far I gave Empyrium and Equilibrium a listen, and I'm liking it.

Empyrium were great, eventhough they're really giving *too much* into the german neo-romantic stereotype at times.

Equilibrium, I plainly don't like. =/

Come to think of it, there arent a lot of German bands I like ...

French hates Germans.

I bet you like Aes Dana. And I don't really like Anaal Nathrakh, I thought they're a good black metal band? Or was I mis-informed.

I hope I can ask this question but does anyone know a good pay to download website? The place I used to go, I used up all the cash on(It was a russian/american site, I love thier deal though, charge your account with 30 bucks, and they give you 20 more bucks for free. So I had a total of 50 bucks worth of dling and it was rather cheap. 10 cents for a song, about a 1.20 for a whole album depending on how big it was. It was always about 30 cents or more cheaper then dling each song once.).

The only problem I have it has about 10 songs or more I dled were incomplete, like missing about 30 seconds or singing and it bothers me that thier support doesn't know what is going on/don't respond.

Tis why I was hoping anyone know a good website to buy and dl good MP3 songs of rock/metal.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

So I'm listening to the new Therion album. If I didn't know better I'd swear it was a completely different band - It's very modern, lots of bass, less emphasis on the choirs. "Tuna 1613" is probably my favourite song so far.

Yes! Earliest one I've seen since In Flames' last album.

"Adulruna Rediviva" is pretty fantastic; it incorporates riffs, melodies etc from some earlier songs. The only one I can actually identify is Ginnungagap, but... Seriously wow.

Listening to the new Drudkh now. It comes to the point I love that band so much I cannot describe it with words. There is something about their music that talks directly to my soul.

Anyway, full folk album this time. Beautifull and mysterious. <3

Yeah, I was a bit taken aback by the direction Therion went with this new album at first, but it's grown on me. I suppose it's a good thing they didn't just try to make a copy of "Sirius B" and "Lemuria". But at least they kept the best part of those two albums: Mats Leven's vocals. \m/

I've also heard that "Adulruna Rediviva" is reportedly meant to reflect the direction they're taking with their NEXT album. It's the only song on the album that has a generally different sound, and I'm liking it a lot...

OK, so I actually bought Sunn O)))'s Black One a while back and I have a question:

Are the two dudes totally serious, or are they having as much fun as I think they are?

I mean, come on, Drone Slut? HILARITY.
