This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
They have a letters page on their website and I think they answered the question of whether or not they were able to make DS/GBA games a long time ago, in better detail. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

So this is out... it's pretty fun. =p
It's officially on like Diddy Kong now. I got back to my thang and started the Friend Codes page for it. I also cleaned up the other Friend Codes pages and got everything consistent... I think. Let's play this week! Oh, and I guess I'll put my friend code here: nazpyro ~ 012976-436154 I was speaking idiomatically. |
Wow I don't know what the hell just happened until I saw a commercial a couple days ago. It's actually out?! How could I forget about this?
Oh well, I know what my top priority tomorrow is. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I got the game today, but I haven't played it yet. My sister got it too, and she's loving it, so I'm guessing it's pretty good (though she liked the original way more than I did). I'll probably play it some tomorrow, so I can see how good it is myself (and so I won't get my ass kicked when it is OLDK). FELIPE NO ![]() |
Oh man, I'm definitely getting this tomorrow. I just hope the Wal-Mart here actually has it.
As soon as I unlock the feature, I'm taking the Wish Tracks out on some crash courses. I want to see how in-depth creating my own track can get. Also, it will be OLDK if I get the game. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Been playing this for a week or so, and words can't express how much the boost function annoys me. Seriously it's a case of having to drop my stylus immediately - Touchscreen steering really would be nice.
Once I've got wifi again I'm down for some racin'. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Just started playing today, and the game was alright. But just like in the old N64 days, Mario Kart is still the champ of the racing scene.
All the racers, courses, weapons and such all just seem average (except in the case of the hovercraft, which fucking sucks balls because it controls like shit). If it didn't have the planes, this game would just be an inferior Mario Kart ripoff. But aside from the MK comparisons, the original stuff the game has still ain't that great. The boost was kinda bad at first, until I just started doing it with my finger instead of the stylus. Not as effective, but works better than trying to quickly switch from the stylus. As for all the other touch screen stuff, again, it was alright, but nothing great. Haven't done much multiplayer, but I did play a few matches against my sister. It was pretty boring with just two people, but still more fun than playing the AI. Hopefully more people will make it better ('sup OLDK). So those are my initial impressions, after playing for a little over an hour and completing the first world. I can tell already that this will be more of a multiplayer game than a single player, becuase playing by myself just wasn't that interesting. I'll probably do it just to unlock more stuff, though. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
The big plus I see with this title is the Battle Modes in Wi-Fi. Of course, you have to play a bunch of single player to purchase the courses, but I tried the ice level last night online, and it was decent. I also did a 3 player race, and it was a blast. It'll be fun to try this out at OLDK tonight.
The boost completely sucks. Sure, it would be a lot easier to use my left finger, but I don't want my screen completely smudged. Seems like if you don't use the boost, though, it's difficult to win the later races. How ya doing, buddy? |
Anyway, I'm huntin' down friend codes. I already added mine to the GFWiki for reference, and I'm about to try the online play. (Go, go 6-Player Awesomefest!) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
The hovercraft and plane were both easier to control with the N64 stick. This is one of those games that makes me miss it.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Thank you Guest for the kickass signature! |
Boosting sucks, I agree, and there are some weird as hell tasks in this game that I can't tend to grip myself on. The boss touch challenge during the 1st and 3rd bosses are annoying as hell, despite the artificial additions of things that can help you like picking up an item by touching it.
Hovercraft kicked so much ass in the N64 version, actually, but I can understand the complaints here. Also DKR owned MK64, what is wrong with you people. I even use the car most of the time, who cares if it's a ripoff. Level design: MK64 was one of Nintendo's weakest endeavours in this department; DKR toppled it. MKDS's level design, however, is still unsurpassed. Also no snaking, so there should be no complaining on a large scale from the internet. But I'm enjoying this a lot. I'm gonna try to unlock a lot of stuff before I head to Wifi. However, the biggest flaw is THE REMOVAL OF THE PIRATE LAGOON MUSIC IS THIS SOME KIND OF A JOKE FELIPE NO ![]() |
Which single player mod is better the one of N64 or DS? I loved the N64 version (way better than MK64).
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
![]() One other thing that bugs is just to total amount of useless shit you have to do and find now. I swear the items/objectives in the game compare to the original have AT LEAST tripled. While I agree that additions to gameplay are good, I really think they went overboard here. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Collection quests....AGAIN? How do you have collection fests in a racing game? That sounds my cue to avoid. =\
The whole collect this and that and that and that and these thing was what turned me off of Donkey Kong 64 and every other Rare game since (Banjo series tolerable to be, but anything else usually ends up as MEH). Nice to see that Rare hasn't learned a single lesson when it comes to gamemaking styles that aren't the same things over and over. Sounds mildly dissapointing or am I overreacting here? How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
The original DKR is an amazing game. If this one is anything like the original, it is very much worth getting. It reminded me a lot more of CTR than MK64 though. CTR is essentially DKR without the planes and hovercraft.
Most amazing jew boots ![]() ![]() |
I must be the only one who doesn't mind the hovercraft. The boosting is easy to do, which is more than I can say for the car, and once you learn to compensate for drift and not necessarily aim your craft straight forward, it's easy. I had no problems beating the walrus twice.
What's pissing me off is when the genie has a new challenge for you, he won't leave you alone until you complete it. Bite me, genie, I don't want to collect your stupid tokens, so you can stop pestering me every time I leave a level. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
The hovercraft was one of my favorite vehicles. I particularly enjoyed driving in Hot Top Volcano with the hovercraft. I mean once you figure out how to do the boost, the hover craft becomes much better of a vehicle.
