It's having to tell GT5 that no I don't want to sign into PSN four times each time I play it that has turned me off playing it in the last few weeks.

Well, that and the five minutes loading between races of course.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

They've apparently realized that giving actual updates is pointless at this point. No new posts on the playstation blog since May 6th. Probably a good thing though. Thus far every time they have said "soon", "in the next few days", or "within a week" they have immediately found a new problem.

The word is currently by May 31st for full restoration of services. Whether or not that means they'll wait until the day of to get everything running is yet to be seen.

Is anyone else having trouble with the Hulu service? I can get netflicks to run fine but Hulu just wants to log in a million times... Darn PSN...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/...ftware-update/

Quote:
We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.

We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
Also looks like SOE coming back up today:

So far only the northeastern part of the US consisting of New York and New Jersey up to Maine has it back. That's really surprising, I thought California of all places would've been first.

Also, the blog is getting hammered. Messages such as: "Error 50x An error has occurred… We have been notified about this issue and will get it resolved shortly…" and "Maintenance We're making a few quick changes and the site will be back online in just a few moments." are coming up. XD

Edit 18 minutes later: California has it back now.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I've downloaded and installed the update, yet when the window comes up telling me I'm going to have to change my password, clicking ok only results in the ok button flashing for a bit and then getting an error message kicking me back out to the menu. Maybe it's just because of an overload of requests at once or service hasn't been restored to my region, I don't know. I was hoping to download some rock band songs today, though.

I haven't played anything online yet, but it looks like the PSN is now down again for maintenance. lol...

Oh this is why:

Quote:
We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.

As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.

If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

Shame that I own all those PS3 games except for Dead Nation, which I don't really care about. PSP I guess I'll grab...uhhh....Modnation Racers? Fuck if I know (or care). I'd suggest Wipeout to everyone and their dog if they hadn't ruined it by doubling load times and patching in advertisements for auto insurance after you bought the damn thing.

The Playstation Plus stuff should give you access to a few freebies that can be kept after the free subscription period ends. Which might be the best part of this.

Hope they don't try anything fishy with existing credit cards on file and auto-renew you for the Playstation Plus sub after the month rolls up.

No interest in LBP, already beat inFamous, and already own Dead Nation and Wipeout. Will definitely get Super Stardust though (that was on my wishlist anyway). Zero interest in any of the PSP games, but I think I've heard that Killzone was actually not bad.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Is this free games business only for those that have bought shit from PSN before or can anyone get up on this deal? I mean I have a PS3 but I rarely use it. Pretty sure I have a regular account or some such that you make when you first try to get online.

Already have LBP on PS3. Guess I'll go after Wipeout. Haven't played inFamous yet, am I missing out?

Nothing strikes my fancy on PSP. Killzone: Liberation was ok. Just not a game I could get into. Maybe I'd get LBP for PSP, but that's a big maybe.

30 days of PSN+ access isn't bad, a great trial to see if I want to get the service. Also, I wonder what "select movies" we'll get. Incoming WWE films like The Marine and The Chaperone that they can't even sell on DVD.

So uh, if you have both a PS3 and a PSP, you can get 4 free games?

Too bad I already have Wipeout + Fury on disc (awesome game by the way so everyone should get that if they don't have it already), and I have been interested in Dead Nation and I'll guess I'll get Super Stardust HD. On the PSP front, I'll get Pursuit Force even though I have no clue what that is, and I already have Modnation Racers on UMD although I didn't care for it much. The others don't interest me.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Additional Spam:
Not true.

We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.

Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.

Surprise, surprise, the PSN store is not coming back today after all, and we're back to the vague "before the end of the month". At this point, Sony should start accepting money orders, and mail out the games on floppy discs.

I checked it when the store was up early this morning, and saw that we have until 6/07 to claim our free month of PSN+ service. Everytime I tried to click on the link it told me I didn't have the service to access it. I lol'd.
