I'm not worried about casting potential, especially if Hideo Kojima remains involved with the movie.

The reason I say this is that most of Kojima's english-translated masterpieces (the MGS series, ZOE, Snatcher) have done a bang-up job of being incredibly well-acted, in spite of having a complete no-body cast. Really, how many of you knew who David Hayter was before MGS?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'd be amazed if Kurt Russel didn't make an appearence somewhere in the film. After all he is the original snake.

I... don't think you read what I said right.

I said Kojima's stuff is usually well acted, even though the names are more or less unrecognizable.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

So gaming blogs/news-sites seem to be exploding with the rumor that in the Brit mag Nuts, Christian Bale confirmed that he will be playing Snake in the MGS movie yet, but no official confirmation anywhere yet.

Well the rumour is supposed to be that while Bale doesn't have the role it is something that he's gunning for and wants once the project gets going. Problem is is that there's no real confirmation about the magazine since news sites are quoting other sites who are quoting message board posts who aren't providing scans.

In other words take it with a grain of salt but since I'm on vacation in the UK at the moment and heading into town later I might be able to see if I can find the issue in question.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Bale should be Liquid Snake, if he can do a British accent (not sure about that). Solid Snake is David Hayter, dammit. :\

Heh, IF he can do a British accent? Bale is from Britain, and a British accent is actually his natural tongue, which really surprised me. Apparently, he's a master of accent control.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well he did a sweet accent in the Prestige. I think that was old time british, for the most part. I can't remember for certain.

I disagree. Like I said earlier in the thread, I think Sean Bean is the perfect actor to play Liquid Snake.

Also, like I mentioned earlier Robert Loggia should play as Colonel Campbell.

Sean Bean would be quite awesome as Liquid. After hearing about the Bale speculation, my friends and I had the token "casting" discussion. Some of our ideas were Maggie Gyllenhall as Meryl, Jack Nicholson as Ocelot, Jim Carrey as Otacon, Danny Glover as the Darpa Chief (come on, he IS the Darpa Chief), Brian Cox as Kenneth Baker and many other ludicrous "would-be-awesome-but-will-never-happen" choices.

Hayter doesn't have the physique of Snake, not to mention that he can't act for shit. Plus, it would be completely nonsensical to have two Snakes portrayed by different actors.

That'd be cool if Christian Bale was doing the role. I'm sure he could pull it off. I still stand by my Hugh Jackman choice though.

Ocelot should be Peter Stormare, or Rade Serbezija. I mean... Rade:
Stormare just because he's the kind of actor to pull it off. Serbezija totally has the looks.

Jack Nicolson as Ocelot would be massive fail. However, Kris Kristofferson or Rade Serbezija would actually be cool.

Ocelot has to be Clint Eastwood. Okay, maybe that Rade Serbedzija guy can, if he can speak -without- an accent.

Heh, IF he can do a British accent? Bale is from Britain, and a British accent is actually his natural tongue, which really surprised me. Apparently, he's a master of accent control.
Wow, I stand corrected - I had no idea he was British.

I disagree. Like I said earlier in the thread, I think Sean Bean is the perfect actor to play Liquid Snake.

Well, if you want to get technical, Bale is Welsh. Though, that should hardly matter. Bale has a mastery over dialect and is a very physical actor so I think he would naturally be an excellent consideration for Snake.
