You would think, but once that nasty milk that scares children and kills old people hits your lips, that familiar feeling of satisfaction comes over you, and you begin to have convulsions.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I heard a nice story about milk, in which they dehydrate it and then remix it later in large vats with water. Mmmm, tasty!

As for me I drink rice or almond milk. Used to drink soy, but try to avoid everything with soy these days (pretty much damned impossible).

I was speaking idiomatically.

because it was cheaper in quebec, and because i was poor, i bought skim. Even now, i tend to buy this one; i get my fat elsewhere

I can cope with 1% ans 2%, but 3% is absolutely disgusting

I never drink milk but if I need to buy it (in case I want to make yogurt or have it stocked for a week much needing of coffee or something), I usually buy 2%.

EDIT: I lied, I have dried non-fat milk I use too.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Normally, I prefer skim milk, as the whole milk tends to make me feel sick, because of the density of fat within the milk...
But I also don't think 1% is bad, since little bit of fat can help you satisfy your tongue.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Someone forgot to add Goat and coconut milk.

I would love coconut milk, but it taste nothing like the coconut flavor in milkshakes. Anybody know why is that?

You drink pure coconut milk?! I thought it's used mainly in curries, and I can't imagine drinking it alone.

I've never tried coconut flavoured milkshakes. Where are you from?

I voted skim, simply because there was no "any normal" option. Manmilk need not apply there.

I can drink any flavor of the stuff, really, that I've come across. I sure notice the difference, but it's not a deal-breaker for me.

This flexibility makes me pretty happy

Probably because they don't add coconut milk to milkshakes. I imagine it's a typical milkshake with coconut shavings or flavoring instead of, say, vanilla or chocolate. Coconut milk is a whole different beast entirely. If your coconut milk did taste like normal or soy milk, I'd get worried.

Whole milk is usually only 3% which isn't exactly a drastic difference.

I wonder about some of the people who swear by skim and 2% and sacrifice flavor over fat content that will probably never make a measureable difference to their body.

Of course, if you just prefer the flavor of one over the other, that's a bit different but I hardly think an extra percent or two of fat qualifies as gluttonous.

Sacrifice the flavor... of some lard.

I "sacrifice" that flavor when I clean out my grease trap too. Should I be saving it for you flavor-lovers?

Actually, lardo, in the population that drinks any kind of milk other than skim, milk is an enormous source of dietary fat.

I've switched between different types of milk so much. I'll get used to anything after drinking it for a little while. But personally, I dislike whole milk. It's too thick and leaves residue on my mouth/tongue. It's not a good kind of thick either, as it's essentially fat. I like soy milk, but it's like apples-to-oranges with cow milk. Chocolate is awesome, for sho.

Lately I drink a lot of skim (fat free) milk. No fat, and still milky tasting.

My family has only had whole or 2% milk my whole life, and we're all at the low spectrum of healthy BMI. So I can see where he was coming from. Not everyone that drinks fatty milk is fat. Just as not everyone that drinks skim milk is skinny.

And, despite what the general belief is...not all fats are bad. Milk fat is a natural, saturated fat. It's essential for cellular regeneration, brain and ocular functions, and skin and hair health. About the only negative of saturated fats is that it has a tendency to increase cholesterol if overconsumed (but nothing is good for you in excess).

Natural saturated fats are nothing at all like trans fats (hydrogenated vegetable oils -- unnatural and unhealthy and THE cause of obesity). Drinking whole milk is not going to make you fat, if you maintain a healthy diet and avoid trans fats.

Dammit, there's no single cause of obesity. If trans fats made people obese, I'd be fucking huge.

There's the rather glaring omission of goat milk. I haven't tried it for years but I grew up on it and I know there's a decent sized "farm chic" segment of the public who seek that stuff out. Have known a few to even raise their own herd.

Well I can agree maybe to a degree, but orange kool-aid and orange juice both have the taste of ORANGE in it. Coconut milk and the coconut flavor in milkshakes taste completely different.
