Been trying to practice with Makoto (my secondary character) in Ultra Street Fighter IV and have wanted to upload this video for quite a while.

Unfortunately, the game's Youtube upload sucks (aka it doesn't work) so I finally just used XSplit instead.

Moral of the story: Stay Calm and Seichusen Godanzuki.

Been meaning to do this for a while - had already replaced the training stage music, and now I replaced the rest of the stage as well with a version of the classic Ryu stage some dude made. Looks rad.

[ 21:30:58 ] [ +Garr ] dude it just fucking dawned on me
[ 21:31:06 ] [ +Garr ] someone needs to make a president mod for ultra street fighter 4
[ 21:34:24 ] [ +Pang ] I don't know what that means
[ 21:34:46 ] [ +Garr ] Ok, so America has had 44 presidents so far, right?
[ 21:34:53 ] [ +Garr ] There are 44 characters in Street Fighter right now
[ 21:34:55 ] [ +Garr ] Am I wrong?
[ 21:35:26 ] [ +Pang ] You are... not wrong.
[ 21:35:57 ] [ +Garr ] I guess Grover Cleveland would have to be in there twice
[ 21:36:02 ] [ @CHz ] Evil Grover Cleveland

[ 21:36:13 ] [ +Garr ] So it still works!

[ 21:41:24 ] [ +AcerBandit ] so like which presidents would be mapped to the female characters?
[ 21:41:46 ] [ +AcerBandit ] i want to know which president is ibuki

[ 21:47:27 ] [ +Pang ] Her enthusiasm for knives, the pelts of animals, and strangling people makes Ibuki a strong contender for Teddy Roosevelt

I'm going to miss the 2nd set of pools on Saturday for Ultra

Also worth noting that not on the schedule there is there's supposed to be a FT7 Smug vs Pepeday, no idea when though.

Whilst I love watching the Street Fighting, I do wish there were some decent commentators somewhere on the planet, or that they'd offer a version with just the match on. If you watch actual sport the commentators generally add something, explaining what's going on and pointing out nuances you might have missed. These two clowns just shout "NICE" a lot and add nothing to the match whatsoever. I think sorting out the commentary would go a long way to making e-sports more mainstream.

I think that depends a lot on your target audience. This tournament wasn't a Capcom-sponsored major event, it's just a dude who puts on a tournament, so I imagine they were probably aiming it more at people who already know a fair bit about the game and don't need that sort of in-depth description.

Anything with James Chen and Ultradavid is probably something that you would appreciate more; I think they're still my favourite pair but I do like the style in the linked video as well. I have to head out for a bit but I'll link them calling a match later.

Try this match out for some commentary that focuses more on discussing the game mechanics and character match-up, Shin.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

THE POWER OF BURGERTIME GROWS!

Two burgers shall ever be the WAGES OF MARS

Whomever both punches and REIGNS OVER MARS* shall assign the fate of these Pinburgers, and so shall the Martian soil be stained forever with the blood of the punched.

If the title of MARS LORD is seized by a nonpuncher, the burgers will not be shifted 'til next a puncher shall take the throne.

*has the current high score among us on the Mars table on Pinball FX2.

CURRENT MARS LORD: CAPO (NONPUNCHER)

It turns out that leaked SF5 teaser was intended for that Sony Playstation Experience event. They did talk about SF5, and released some more gameplay footage that looks pretty interesting. I think some of the particle effects are overdone by SF standards, but this is obviously a really early build and the visuals (specifically particles) always change significantly by release. Not really sure how to interpret that launch off the ground - I hope it doesn't turn into Marvel.

The game has also been confirmed as a PS4 console exclusive as well as being available on the PC, and the really cool thing now is that there will be cross-play support between the two platforms.

I don't disagree they're great, but that is pretty much an exclusively MvC commentary pair.

Super hyped about the actual gameplay they showed. Guard Breaks!?

They also said that at Capcom Cup next weekend there will be a live gameplay demonstration, so keep an eye out for that I guess.

You should watch the Capcom Cup tournament next weekend. 16 of the top players in the world for nothing but SF4 (which is a slower game and easier to commentate as opposed to say Marvel) and the commentary is going to be Ultrachen/CF/Mike Ross. They usually specifically try to have good commentary for the official events, James Chen in particular often goes out of his way to try to explain some things for beginners.

I remember spending a morning working off a hangover playing MvC2 in an arcade once and our mate who has pretty much never played SF in his life and came along just to watch was close to throwing up after trying to follow what was going on for half an hour. He had to look away anytime someone pulled out one of those silly combos where you get all three characters on the screen at once. Happy days...

Most (smaller) events have everyone playing everything so they have on the fly commentators who are simply nice enough to sit down and do it while everyone else was playing. There's millions of sports commentators who aren't good at their jobs, and yet they get paid for it. These guys are often just normal players who are asked to please sit for a moment so the stream isn't completely empty.

Like Diss said, UltraDavid and James Chen are a great pair, and I do like Seth Killian.

For Marvel, Yipes is of course unbeatable, but I really, really like it when Genesis is on. They're not super informative, but they're very entertaining and fun to listen to.

EDIT: as for the esports comment, I can tell you don't really watch much. Large events for something like Starcraft or DOTA or Counter-Strike already have very talented commentators and big presentation.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

E-Sports hasn't really caught on in the UK, I'll watch occasional matches but what's available online is a bit too American in it's presentation style for me to enjoy it. What the UK needs is for a major broadcaster like Channel 4 to pick up some big tournaments and chuck the kind of money and attention at them they did to the Paralympics or continue to do to NFL which would hugely increase interest over here.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
