![]() I swear the pawn shops on main street are an eternal source of obscure gaming mystery. The most unexpected stuff always appears! Japanese Strider, Monaco GP (I remember this being a lot better than it really is..) and "Big Dick's back in town!™" TMNT joins the whopping list of the whole six games I've bought for GBA in its lifetime! And Theme Park is love. There are some changes here and there, but it's basically the same old rad game. The old park advisor is gone, replaced with a dude that's sooorta the same. But you can also choose others to help you instead, including a 'punk' kid and a girl that has a parrot (serious). They each have their own personality of sorts, it's a pretty nice touch. Speaking of which, the touch screen controls are good, except you have to draw a small tick on everything to confirm stuff which is mind boggling. "Do you want to select the Ghost House? DRAW A TICK, NO NOT THE BLOOD SUCKING ONE AUUUGH". Only one save slot, but that sure as hell beats a password system that only saves your cash amount oh stuff you so much SNES/Mega Drive. Also they replaced the original introduction movie with the boy and his dog getting sucked into the TV with.. well, boring. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
So is Madonna even more of a slut in Japanese Dick Tracy?
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Dick van Dyke turns into a tentacle monster at the end and smiles at her, then 16-bit rendered glory awaits!

I recently picked up Lumines Plus and Rogue Galaxy, having finished Ar Tonelico.
Rogue Galaxy is awesome. The fights are fun and challenging (Especially when enemies pop down in cramped spaces ;_; one attack can rape the whole party), and I've liked all of the characters so far. The music thus far isn't anything amazing, but it's not bad, either. I'm digging the voice acting, too. I was really disappointing with Lumines Plus, though. While the core Lumines gameplay is still there, there were two Skins removed: Shake Ya Body and I Feel the Music in My Soul. This is unfortunate because those two skins were my favorite skins in the original Lumines. By the time I got to level 115 I was getting suspicious, then googling confirmed my fears ;_; What a disappointing port. (Some of the new skins are kind of nice though) FELIPE NO ![]() |
I've gotten quite a number of games within the last week or so. Too many, in fact.
![]() Starting with PS2 games (and in alphabetical order, since I don't remember the order I bought these in), first I bought Genji: Dawn of the Samurai for $10 at Best Buy. I'm always a sucker for ninja/samurai stuff (as you'll see in my next purchases), and since it was going for so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Next up is Kengo: Master of Bushido. 'Sup old, first-gen figthing game. Bought it used at Gamestop for $4. I usually hate used games, but for $4 I didn't care much. I remember being interested in this game back before I even had a PS2, but I never got it when I did get the system. Oh well, five years later, I now have it. State of Emergency is next on the list. Another used game I got at Gamestop for $4. I remember when it first came out that everyone was buying it because Rockstar published and everything they published was cool because of GTA III. That was never the reason I was interested in it though, as I had never even played GTA when I first heard of this game. I was genuinely interested in this game based on its own merits, despite the GTA-related hype and the negative reviews. Of course, I never bought it back then (I never really had money for games back in high school, and this game wasn't high on my priority list) I guess I'll get to see if it lives up to my expectations now. Finally, I got Summoner, again used for $4. I never played it before, but I played a demo of the second game a long time ago and enjoyed that. I figured the first one wouldn't be too much different (I could be wrong, of course). I tried looking for the second one as well, but I couldn't find it. Maybe next time (or at another store). So overall, most of the games I bought were older titles, but hpefully they still hold up as well now as they did back then. Of course, I won't know this anytime soon, as I probably won't get to playing them until sometime in 2011 (I now have 106 PS2 games, over half of which I have not played/beaten). Now, onto the DS. Firs I got Harvest Moon DS for $10 at Best Buy. The only other Harvest Moon game I've played is the original SNES game, but I still know I'll enjoy this one (along with the other GBA game I have but never played). Next, I got Lost In Blue and Lost In Blue 2. The story starts off with me wanting to get that awesome stylus that comes with preordering the second game. So I preordered the game and got the stylus, but then I realized that i would actually have to get the game. Being as anal as I am, I couldn't accept having the second one without having the first, so I went out to look for it. But I couldn't find it anywhere (new or used). I was just about to give up, but when I went to go pick up my copy of the second one, they had a used copy of the first one going for $25. Pretty damn expensive for a game that's over a year old and used, but since I couldn't find it anywhere else, I took what I could get. I played a little bit of it though, and it was pretty good. I'll definitely have fun with it once I actually get to playing it, which will probably also be in 2011 (the DS situation is a little less worse, with only 80 games, and only about half unplayed/not completed). And wrapping up this post, for the GBA I got Polarium Advance at Gamestop for $10 (new). On a whim I finally played the first Polarium on the DS this week, and I really enjoyed it. So much so that when I found out there was a sequel I really wanted to get it as well. Luckily I just happened to see that copy at Gamestop for cheap, so that was pretty damn good. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Last game I picked up was Tomb Raider: Legend for my 360. A very good game. Great graphics, fun gameplay, awesome music. Glad the series did right again with this one. Now if only they'd make Anniversary for the next-gen consoles. I would cream. *shiftyeyes*
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
![]() The most recent games I bought are Guitar Hero 2 with one guitar controller, Final Fantasy X, God of War 2, Devil May Cry, and my import of Nintendo Puzzle Collection came in today. I also pre ordered a m3 simply for my DS 2 weeks ago and am waiting for their shipment to get in. Good games are really hard to come by where I live, and this is my first time seeing FFX. I have to plan a day trip to travel to the closest EB games if I want to play something good. There's nowhere I can't reach.

![]() I took this picture a few days ago, but since then I've bought a new camera so heres the shit I've bought recently. ![]() Gears of War: Very fun, but short game. I enjoyed the entire experience but it's only something like 6 hours long. I can't play it online with others mostly because my internet connection is trash and can't be helped. But right now I'm going through the game on hardcore mode and it's just as fun the second time around (if not more). Cooperative play makes Gears of War piss easy, btw. The only thing I DIDN'T like is that when using Left Handed control mode, you can't control your character while sprinting. Holding the A button and up on the RIGHT analog stick = fuck annoying. Makes jumping over stuff difficult too, so I canned that idea and went back to the default controls. I.Q. Remix+ (import): If you know of Kurushi or Intelligent Qube, it's basically a remixed version for the PS2. For a remake, it's sub par. They've added blurry motions, a trance-esque theme to the levels, different variations in the way you destroy blocks, and a 100-level puzzle mode. It isn't bad, but it isn't as good as the original game. But rare? Yeah just try finding this game on ebay in the next year. Shooting Collection Volume 3: Sol Divide and Dragon Blaze (import): Picked this up for $30US. Which is cheap for an import, you know. Although this one doesn't justify it's price as the games are shit. Seriously, Sol Divide is terrible, and Dragon Blaze is almost the exact same as Gunbird (characters have the same "I need to find a piece of the puzzle and once all 3 pieces are complete I'll doMiNaTe The WoRLD" garbage goin' for them. Dragon Blaze is a LOT better in comparison to Sol Divide but that isn't saying much. Wii Classic Controller (import, lol): I needed this to play Toejam and Earl on Virtual Console with. Not to mention future VC games which I'll probably be purchasing. The dpad's a bit stiff for diagonally moving upright/upleft/downright/downleft, but it isn't something intolerable. God Hand: This game is FUCKING AWESOME. I'm on Hard mode already, and it's just slightly hard. Hard as in, it ended up taking me around 120 continues to complete stage 1. If you think the main story is difficult (which it is, over usual titles and their wondrous "normal" modes), you'd be right. Kula World (PAL): This game is pretty rare these days. Shit, it's going for $100 US for the PAL version. I'm not kidding, either. I got lucky and bought one for $57US. Aside from it's rarity, it's a great puzzle game. Much like Inteligent Qube in quality, the game's strategic difficulty and unique attributes to different puzzles makes it fun and not a totally boring puzzle game, to play. Nintendo Prize Collection Series Family Computer Controller Type Television Remote Control 2 (import): It's a novelty tv remote. Up/down controls volume, left/right controls the channels. Select controls source/AV channels and start turns it on and off. Works like a charm, but it's a tad useless when I need to bring my tv's interface up. IIDX 10th Style + IIDX KOC: If anything I'm glad I bought 10th Style. I was recommended it by a friend who plays iidx quite often. Most of the songs on the playlist are pretty decent and the game's definitely addictive. The only problem is my timing is horrible, and the IIDX KOC was second-hand, pre-modded with the slipmat and cardboard mods. I've taken out the slipmat (and put it back in, and taken it out, and put it back in, etc), but I think I'll leave it in, since it makes the turntable spin much faster and it's much looser. The keys feel rather hard to press with the cardboard mod in place, so I think I'll remove them when I get around to adding the turntable mod back in. Mushroom: It's a mushroom. :V This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Even more games gotten since my last post, which wasn't even that long ago. Seriously, I really need to stop.
![]() For the PS2, I bought Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for $20 at Wal-Mart, and Xenosaga Episode III at Circuit City for $17. Both of them are games that I've wanted, but have been holding out on waiting for the price to go down. For Subsistence, I figured this is as cheap as it's gonna get, and since I had a hard time finding MGS2: Substance when I waited a while for it, I might as well get it now. As for XSIII, this was an unexpected surprise, as I've been seeing this going for $30 at most places. I'll definitely be playing this one after I beat Disgaea. On the DS/GBA front, my copy of Boktai 2 finally came in. I've been collecting this series in anticipation of playing them all at once (probably this summer sometime, with the sun thing and all), but I've had the hardest time finding the second game new or used. I finally just went the online route and bought it new for $20, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. It just arrived yesterday, along with a free copy of Lunar Knights that my sister won from some website. Since she has no interest in this series, she went ahead and gave it to me, which is how I now have the whole series (except for Boktai 3 of course, which was only released in Japan). Also for the DS, I got three games at Target in their $24 sale. The first game I got was Super Mario 64 DS. I played a little bit of it, and it seems alright. I've only played the original for about half an hour back when it first came out, so it will be good to finally play the whole game. Of course, the experience seems like it would be way better on a console, as the game seems a little off (especially with the camera). Next I got Spectrobes. Haven't played it yet, mainly because the freaking 80 page manual is intimidating. Not only is it intimidating, but it, along with all the other crap they put in there (trading cards, Wi-Fi booklet, feedback postcard, and Health and Safety thingy) stretched out the case to the point where it can never close properly. They even had a sticker on the case itself just to keep the damn thing closed. Once you take that off though, you can't even close the case at all unless you take that extra crap out (which sucks, since I like to keep it), but even once you do that, the case will snap shut, but will be loose around the top and bottom edges. But whatever. The last game I got for $24 was Wario: Master of Disguise. I played it for about ten minutes, and I must say, it was pretty damn fun. The disguise aspect seems like it will be very interesting, and having to play minigames to open treasure chest is pretty cool as well. I'll definitely take the time out to enjoy this one once I have more free time. And finally, I got Meteos: Disney Magic at Circuit City for $20. I wasn't really planning on getting this game, since I wasn't even that big a fan of the original game, but for $20 I figured what the hell. Good thing too, because this game is way better than the original. The two main changes to the game (playing it sideways ala Brain Age and the ability to shift blocks horizontally) are excellent, almost making this an entirely different game altogether. Not too keen on the Disney stuff, but the improved gameplay more than makes up for this. They're definitely on the right track with this, so if they make a new original version (I miss the little aliens ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |

For I thread I started before the crash, I've been severely neglecting this one. My bad.
![]() With my tax return, I built myself a new computer. 500 GB hard drive, PCI Express-enabled ASUS motherboard, Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz (somethin like that, anyway) processor, 2 1GB sticks of DDR2 SDRAM, and currently one GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI Express card. I'm gonna buy another one so I can run in SLI mode. Frickin' sweet. That's about it on the hardware side of gaming acquistion. Oh yeah, I bought another PS3 controller and a 60GB SATA hard drive for my formerly 20GB PS3. Sweet. Haven't installed it yet, but it's the exact same drive Sony uses in the 60GB PS3, so yeah. No fear of it working. If it doesn't, well hey it was only $20. On the software side of things, I've picked up a few games here and there. For the PC, I nabbed the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Collector's Edition at launch since I had it preordered, and I also bought Jade Empire: Special Edition a few weeks after it came out. I'll install and play both of them once my copy of Windows XP comes in the mail. Running on Ubuntu Linux right now, unfortunately. ![]() For the PS2, I obviously snatched up Rogue Galaxy and it's strategy guide the day they came out. Being the huge Level-5 fan that I am, this was easily a no-brainer. I suppose I'll have to shell out for a DS Lite once Dragon Quest IX comes out, if only to continue to support Level-5 in their endeavors. Still waiting on a North American release of Jeanne d'Arc, guys. Also had to pick up another copy of Legaia: Duel Saga as mine has mysteriously vanished. For the PSP, I've acquired three more titles: Breath of Fire III, Tales of Eternia, and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters. About BoF3 and Tales; I recently got promoted to Store Manager at one of the new GameStop stores in my area, and it so happened the store I took over had copies of both games in stock. Instant purchase -- got them both for a combined $35. Sweet. I bought Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops when it came out, but after I beat it I traded it in. My PS3's seen a couple of acquisitions as well besides a mere controller. Virtua Fighter 5 and MotorStorm were must-haves as soon as they came in, and I'm waiting to try Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the PC before I decide whether or not to get it on the PS3. I also finally caved in and bought Blast Factor, flOw, and Tekken: Dark Resurrection. I managed to get my hands on another Gamecube. Buddy of mine didn't want his anymore, so he just gave it to me. I wasn't about to pay for another one, but I was happy enough to take this off his hands. When I traded in the one I had, I got rid of a game that I now wanted to play again, and with this new Gamecube in my possession, I got Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes used. I also broke down and bought Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but not until it came in used. I was speaking idiomatically. Reading -- Bleach, Claymore, Chun Rhang Yhur Jhun, NOW, Zero: Beginning of the Coffin, Black God, Twelve Kingdoms (novels), History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Watching -- Bleach Playing -- Fable II, Valkyria Chronicles, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Star Ocean: First Departure, LittleBigPlanet, MegaMan 9, Mirror's Edge

Reason: Forgot to include PS3 online purchases

It's been almost a month since my last purchases since I wanted to catch up on some games. That didn't really happen, so I didn't get much, but I got:
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect just to complete my TimeSplitters collection. The first two are among my favorite console shooters (the only other one being GoldenEye), so I look forward to playing this at some point. Xenosaga Episode II, an impulse buy just because it was so cheap. I still haven't played Episode I, but again: one day... Wii Classic Controller. I never really wanted one since I haven't been big on the Virtual Console games yet. But, this was the first time ever I actually saw the controller on the rack in any store, and it was the last one left. All those signs... it was just calling to me to buy it. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Picked up Resident Evil Remake for Gamecube today. Great stuff, love the graphics, but the ink ribbon saving and limited inventory just plain annoys the tar out of me.

I didn't expect to be buying any new games until after my birthday in a few weeks, but I had to pick up Puzzle Quest today. Zoo Keeper was the game that got me hooked enough to buy a DS in the first place, so an RPG using Bejeweled as a battle system was impossible to pass up. I've only played through the first couple of quests so far, but it's exactly what I expected. The only downside is the lack of wi-fi.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
I purchased Crimson Skies, Blood Omen 2 and Enclave for the Xbox all for 10 bucks. Enclave isn't that great but Crimson Skies is awesome and I've always wanted it, just never picked it up for some reason. I haven't played Blood Omen 2 yet, but I hear it's not that great however it was cheap and I enjoy the Legacy of Kain series.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Well my last purchase before the board went down was God Of War II on release which I since went on to complete and love every minute of.
With the board down I found a brand new copy of Yakuza for the PS2 for only $24.99 and as such I've been playing that since Saturday. Smashing people's faces into walls or desks is quite satisfying before heading off to a hostess bar to get some ass. ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I picked up God of War II and Lunar Knights on Friday, and I'm loving both. I never got around to playing the first God of War, but this is about what I expected. Battles are fun, the platforming is fun, and my only real complaint is the way it sometimes makes you think you're supposed to do some puzzle that's actually impossible until later. The over-the-top fights are great though, especially Perseus.
I have the first Boktai game, but never played much of it since the UV-protection windows in my house kept the sensor from working above a single bar. Lunar Knights lacks the puzzle elements of Boktai, but it sure is nice not having to drag the bosses all the way back out of the castle at half speed to finish them off! Lots of fun, but I wish the inventory was bigger than one screen for the amount of items you end up carrying. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
I got Cooking Mama: Cook Off sometime last week. It ain't no Hibachi grill and the controller isn't all that delicious, but it's fun to play. It's also entertaining to add in your own sound effects.
![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
I picked up Rise of the Dragon for the Sega CD for six bucks. Not bad. It's a graphic adventure in the future influenced by Blade Runner. You're a private investigator who has been hired to stop a Chinese gang from selling drugs because the mayor's daughter was killed by this drug. Plays sort of like Snatcher.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Picked up God of War 2 when it came out. It's been pretty decent from what I played. I've been enjoying it myself alot. It's challenging which is something I really like, but thankfully it's not aneurism-enducing puzzles and places like the first game. (fucking Hades pissed me off).
Bought Madden 2007 last night for about $20. I haven't played much of it, but the controls are a bit tricky to get used to. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
![]() Anyhow, Metroid Prime 1 & 2 for GC arrived last week. ![]() FELIPE NO ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer |
The budget gaming terror continues!
![]() Wow it's only taken three years to find a pre-owned copy of Gotcha Force! It's pretty fun, like Virtual On but with bright primary colours stabbing you in the eyes everywhere you go. The slick anime intro and the fact that the game is about collecting pocket sized robots sort of suggests Capcom were hoping it'd be a success so they could pump out a crappy TV series and toys. Whoops! X-Treme Express is some kind of train game, or so the rumour goes. But it's not a sim, because it's X-TREME! You race other trains, switching tracks, trying to derail your opponents. For five bucks, why not. It's pretty funny when you get derailed, you sort of just slide around in the dirt, mashing L1 and R1 to get back on the rails. Just like a real train. Plus you can race as ![]() ![]() World Super Police is kinda liiiiike Chase HQ. You zip along the highways, shooting at other cars, traffic always manages to drift in your way. The graphics are really shocking, almost to the point where it's unplayable.. and this is coming from me. ;__; Buildings pop up out of nowhere, other cars on the road are like rectangles and the frame rate goes all Perfect Dark when you start shooting. But it has an overdramatic storyline, which makes it worthwhile (no). Midas were nice enough to leave the Japanese voice option in, because the English dub is done by ONE PERSON. ONE PERSON DOES THE VOICE OF EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER, MALE OR FEMALE. ONE! Bubble Bobble Double Shot is alright, they finally went back to the old level design, and the colour coded thing isn't too much of a hassle. I like that there's cameos of other Taito games hidden in it like Exit~. Also Puyo Pop DS, found that real bloody cheap brand new, which is nice considering I didn't even know it got a local release. Picked up VICTORY BOXING (VICTORY!) and Rayman at a garage sale. Kinda forgotten just how tough the original Rayman is! And well, Spider-Man 2 for N-Gage. That cost $970. I got it on sale at a dress shop. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Picked up S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Shadow of Chernobyl when it was released.
Even with though this game is highly flawed, it's the only PC game I've bought since Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines that I've not regretted buying. Kudos to GSC for finally getting it out, and for trying to set themselves apart from other games. One of the best settings I have ever seen in a game. Hopefully they'll manage to patch the biggest faults. It really is a flawed diamond. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Picked up three games recently.
First game is Xenosaga Episode 3. I got it used at EB Games for 20 bucks. I finished off Eps I and II and I just wanted to get to the story's end. It's a lot better than II and I was surprised at the strength of III's story when compared to II. Started off much stronger than expected. Second game is Final Fantasy XII. Got this one for free at EB games with their 3 for 1 deal. Not much to comment on this game really since I haven't played this one all that much. Didn't want to confuse XSIII and XII's stories. I don't really have an opinion on the battle system yet but as soon as I'm done XSIII . . . Last . . . I managed to snag Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner for 20 bucks. It's a fun game. Controls are hard to get used to but the combat is challenging. Graphics still hold up well for a game from 2003. Voice acting is kinda iffy but it's still enjoyable. Most amazing jew boots |

I bought God of War 2 when it came out. Played the first one and loved it, figured the second one would be as good if not better (from everything I read about it), and it was. This game was everything I was hoping it would be, good story, great graphics, great soundtrack and kickass boss fights.
I also got Devil May Cry 3 Speical Edition not too long ago. It was an impulse buy, I just wanted to play an action game and I kept hearing good things about this game. A friend of mine lent me the first game and liked it very much, so I decided to buy the 3rd one based on that. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
