It's not like Twilight Princess would have geography all that similar to Ocarina of Time either way.

I don't know what SOLDIER is smoking but it's widescreen. You have to set your Wii and TV to widescreen for it to work. I'm not sure what else you could call it.

I just finished the game and I'm totally satisfied. This game is truely an instant Zelda classic. I've gotten all the heart pieces but have yet to find all of the poe spirits. The total time invested in this game: 75 hours.

It's because it's all mirrored. Gerudo Valley is in the east, this time. Zora's Domain in the north.

Exactly. If you flip the TP Wii's Map and compare it with OoT's, then all the locations are in the right compass direction.

Man, some of the elements in TP so far feel out of place. From:
Spoiler:
The freaky 'dark power' cutscene with a Rei-esque Ilia sequence, to the spinner and the snowboarding 'SK8-E!!! Link'
it's almost scary (but quite refreshing at the same time).

I'm on my way to the third temple,

and this game has impressed me so much in many ways. I can't get enough of it.

Yes, essentially it's the same as playing the Jak and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank games with the mirror options. Everything in the game world is reversed: the map, the directions, etc. The world flipping was only done in the Wii version: the Gamecube's map uses the "original" orientation.

So if you play one version of the game and then the other, you'll notice that the positions of everything are in the opposite direction from what you remember.

Oh the screen is certainly in 16:9 aspect ratio. But what he's refering to is that it CUTS OFF the top of the bottom to fill a widescreen display instead of ADDING to the left and right. It would be like taking a TV show that was in 4:3, slicing off the top and bottom quarter or so of the picture, and calling it widescreen.

However I haven't played the game in widescreen yet so I'm not sure if that's the case. But again for reference, that would be how Jak and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank's "widescreen" modes are: they just squish the image and cut off the top and bottom of it. Which is basically the opposite of how widescreen SHOULD work since it's reducing your playing field then, not increasing it.

It would be nice if someone would test this so we have confirmation of which is the case in Twilight Princess.

Well I never felt like I had less viewing space in widescreen mode. I did play the game in both 4:3 and 16:9 and I felt both were fine.

Mmmmmm...this game is awsome indeed. I was having a blast playing the game, up until I reached:

Spoiler:
the sky cannon thing, right after I collected the characters for the book. I got into the cannon room, and saved + quit because I needed to go somewhere. I come back to it an hour ago, only to find that I can't go anywhere now, trapped in that room. I know I'm supposed to talk to Shad, but he's nowhere to be found in the room, yet he keeps me from walking out (using dialogue and all), and I can't warp/transform because Midna says Shad is still there. So...I started a new game.

This really killed the game for me, but eh, whatever, I'm kinda glad I didn't do the whole scavanger hunt thing for items yet.

That issue was fixed in the GCN version, but yeah... don't save there, or before opening the Eldin Bridge warp point (when the bridge falls) or you'll be unable to progress through the game. Two game destroying issues which the GCN version fixed it seems.

Thanks for telling me that, at least now I won't be trying to find where Shad is hiding anymore. ;_; Now, to speed through the game and get back to that point.

EDIT: Hmmm, isn't this something that would be something that Nintendo could use Wii Connect 24 to fix? Although I highly doubt that they will do that for this game (since the GCN version is fixed already, and they did not send the fix yet), but I do hope that it will be used for patching major bugs in future games.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The bridge of Eldin game ending glitch ist not real. It has been debunked through several tests and is not even existing in the Wii version. No matter when and where you save at the Eldin Bridge, you'll always end up on the right side.

Was the cannon glitch also fixed in NTSC GCN versions of TP? I tested it two days ago on my PAL copy and was very happy it wasn't there anymore (still I have sympathies for those who saved there on the first print - maybe you should sue Nintendo or something).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

ok I didn't read this thread at all and I still don't have the game XD it was on my list for christmas gift so just 2 more day before playing it XD

but I just receive the official guide from my nintendo power subscription and I'm pretty impress with it! The guide is so beautiful, full of picture and artwork everywhere ^^ I was surprise that it came with a mini soundtrack ^^ music is pretty nice!

anyone thought that some music ah some similarity with the music from legend of legaia? XD (like ordon and karariko village look a lot some music of LoL XD)

I just finished the game. I don't think I've ever been as satisfied with a game as I was with this game, all the way from beginning to end. I can cleanly put this over Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, with little room for doubt. The only thing I could call a flaw was the overall challenge, but any Zelda veteran who has gone through the rest of the series is already half prepared for the game as is.

I ended up finishing at 64 hours with all sidequests completed. The final battle sequences were pretty fucking intense, and although easy, the whole point of them (like the rest of the game) was essentially figuring out how to win.

This game was worth the entire purchase of my Wii. I am glad I broke down and bought a Wii ahead of time instead of waiting like I was going to now. Really really glad.

Spoiler:
Also, Princess Zelda is absolutely GORGEOUS this time around. I literally could not stop staring at her the first time she appeared in Twilight Hyrule Castle Tower and all other subsequent times. Having to actually fight her possessed form was a beautiful touch to it all, because you were torn with harming her versus fighting Ganon.

The only glitch I've read about in the Wii version was this alleged cannon glitch and sources said it's not in the GC version.

I'm playing the GC version (loving it so much) and I ran into something else that may not be version related.
In the first forest temple, when saving the monkeys, there was a room with two spiders hanging from the ceiling, three holes on the ground (two covered in spider web) and a second room underneath with more spiders and a bomb insect you needed to break the monkey from their cage.

I got stuck in some ridiculous animation loop as I thought I needed to somehow break the webbing over one of the holes and stepped off to the edge of the ground, where Link then fell back to the webbing, then touched the edge again, activating his "walking up a step" animation, then fell back to the webbing, then touched the edge, animation, webbing, edge, animation, etc, it just kept looping and I couldn't move. I could activate my item and collection screens, but none of my items or moves could be used because the game didn't register Link on solid ground. Luckily for me I could access the collection screen so I saved and rebooted and only had to walk back to the room from the dungeon entrance.

I later ran into another disturbing problem, but this was a case of the game freezing, which has never happened to me with a GC title, ever. I must have played for five hours straight, getting the master sword, looking up bugs, heart pieces and poe souls, and eventually making my way to the Arbiter's Grounds. There, while fighting the first larger skeleton warrior, my game suddenly froze in mid Helmet Splitter and an awful, continuous sound came out of my headphones really loud. Not even the reset button reacted, so I had to power down and - of course - noticed I hadn't saved once during that five hours.

I took me about two and a half hours to get back to that point with the same heartpieces and poe souls (plus a few extras I found on the way), so it was no biggie in the end. But it did eat me quite a lot at the time and now I save like a paranoid PC gamer ;_;

Just a heads up for anyone light on their game saving, don't wait for the post-dungeon reminders only.
