I have no idea of Steam adheres to regions, but bear in mind that Eurogamer is a European gaming site (and that version is the UK focussed one). Though it is possible that it hasn't hit Steam yet.

Also, from the same (updated) page:
Quote:
Update: Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has Tweeted that the higher price-point is an error, and the content should cost 560 MSP. He suggests holding off until Xbox Live admins rectify the mistake.

Yeah, so I woke up this morning, already saw Shake Appeal playing it, and was still so groggy that I didn't even notice I paid 800 for it -_-. I'm curious what, if anything, they'll do for people who paid 800. I'm sure there's a good chunk of people who honestly probably didn't know any better as well.

Enjoy paying for that, 360 players.

Hi, I know its almost a year old since they released L4D, But quick question, if i have downloaded a copy off the internet (Cracked) Is it possible to use it for steam, I just bought L4D on steam (it was 14.99) and was wondering if i could just set its directory to steam and stuff like that, or do i have to download it "again"?

From the sounds of it, he already bought it, but is wondering if he has to redownload it and install it through steam, or if he can just point steam to his bunk ass directory.

To which the answer is no, he can not.

I downloaded a cracked version a few months ago that i occasionally play on Garena (GG), But I've noticed they released a new map, and it was like 14,99 at steam (half the price yay) so yeah, Do you have to purchase the new map? or does it come free on steam?

Pang. Reread his post. He downloaded a cracked version back in the day (putz, this game has been worth the money since day 1) and now he bought the legit version. He wanted to know if he could just use his cracked version as the .exe if he redirected everything to the steam servers, instead of having to re-download the whole game again (he can't).

There's nowhere I can't reach.

He didn't buy Left 4 Dead first chance he got. I'd expect nothing less. Hell, I own it on PC and 360 just to avoid contempt from my peers.

Now, I have to go beat the new Tales of Monkey Island that dropped today. Which I paid for. Because I like to encourage titles I enjoy.

So, I've played it. Yes, a bit on the short side, but the multiplayer is a blast. I liked the level for what it was. And I don't mind having dropped like, what, three whole dollars on it?

Its a great, great, great download. Both maps are much longer than anything in the original game and I was really impressed by the number of places you can hide or put your back to in case you're being attacked. The horde seems more frequent than before and while they don't last as long, there seems to be more infected running at you at once.

Some of the achievements are great but others are baffeling. I can't figure out how the heck someone is going to get a 25 point pounce as a Hunter in either level.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Still in the middle of downloading, just a quick question, Can you play custom maps on Steam? Or can you only play it via Lan?

There's even various mods. I think my two favorites are the ones which remove roof restrictions for infected. Makes hunters a lot more lethal and unpredictable as they can be coming out of anywhere. Also like the mod where infected can talk to survivors when they pounce/smoke/boom them. It's mostly obnoxious in pub games, but when played in private games with all friends it's a blast.

I used to play a bit on a server which had various mods for survivors. It gave them a few random upgrades (bullets that make zombies disintegrate, light on fire, faster reload, larger clips, extra health, faster revive, escape one pounce/smoke for free, and a few others). They also got rid of extra medpacks and made one tank and at least one witch in every level. I thought games on there were a lot more interesting.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

For anyone that's still interested and hasn't bought the game. It's currently on sale for $15 on Steam.

Or you could just wait a few months and get L4D2. I mean, you've already waited this long. =\

Well, looks like I can hold off on buying L4D2 for a while.

Or if you'd rather not follow the link, it's a pretty awesome L4D mod called Cold Case, coming out Oct. 31st. Includes the following features:
Quote:
  • Dynamically evolving zombies. The infection is unstable and reactive. The zombies progressively become faster, tougher, and more aware of their surroundings through the campaign. Boss zombies also become more frequent.
  • Upgrades. Expect to spend your time hunting for the upgrade tables. By doing so you can upgrade different things about yourself. Between accuracy, speed, and revival amounts you will need them to survive.
  • Storyline. Expect a rich and detailed storyline featuring numerous recordings by voice actors, (and myself).
  • MASSIVE CONTENT! 36 maps in total!
    - 6 full map campaign featuring hours of gameplay.
    - 10 survival maps with dynamically changing atmospheres. Hold some points while waves of infected tear it down, while others force you to run for your life to get to better positions.
    - 2 separate 5 map versus campaigns. Cold Case: Covert Operations, and Cold Case: The Forsaken Each feature their own cooperative and versus maps!
Some other custom campaigns you should try, if you haven't already:

Death Aboard

Start in a prison, go through a cargo ship, end up at a huge lighthouse finale where a hot air balloon picks you up. Garr and I mentioned this about 40 posts ago; it's had some updates since then so hopefully the bugs have been fixed.

Night Terror

The first level is not very remarkable, but the second is the Haunted Mansion. Then the Mines of Moria, then jungle ruins, then a finale with a twist. Okay, so some of them are converted Counter-Strike maps, but they still work pretty well. And what can I say, I love the Haunted Mansion.

Coal'd Blood

Interesting coal mine campaign, worst pun ever. Your blood has been coaled? What the hell does that mean?

Heaven Can Wait

Pretty damn difficult.

Back to School

Not finished, but pretty good so far.

I'm still up for a game every so often, and I think I have just about all of you on Steam. If not, here's my profile, or search for my current nickname - Rex Dart, Eskimo Spy.

How ya doing, buddy?

Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and the going of Him.
