Watching the Bleach 3 trailer for the Wii, i wonder if it will actually
play well with the Wii (swinging and slabbing). I hope it doesn't just
get left behind as a gimmick and only fun for the first couple fights.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hahah, not only will there be a Stamina bar for your character in the game,
you'll have to keep an eye on your own personal stamina...

That's what I'm looking forward to with the Wii. Games that are epic and your cahracter is limited by YOUR attributes, not some statistical attributes, that would be a Next-Gen interface to me

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The only current-gen example we have of this type of gameplay mechanic can be found in DDR, where, if you're not in shape, you LOSE. Horribly.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That sort of goes against the whole "The Wii is for everyone!" thing that they have going on.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I've done DDR perfectly fine at that weight. Sure there are some tough songs but for the most the game is all about rhythm and timing which if you know what you're doing doesn't require you using that much effort. =/

Doesn't that kinda take away from the whole "getting away from reality" thing in games? I mean generally you play a game to pretend you're some big, strong, never-tiring hero that can take a thousand bullets and run around with 500 pounds of equipment on him and never break a sweat. If you had to make all the swinging motions in Devil May Cry with the controller, the player would get tired long before Dante ever would. In fact I doubt most gamers could even get through a single level before falling dead of a heart attack...

And the Eyetoy. If you want a real workout (literally) there's always Eyetoy Kinetic.

They totally need to make a game where you visibly see Link carry a bazillion items instead of always pulling them out of his ass.

what if they made one where you had to move a different Wii-mote attachment for each item?

holy crap that would be confusion. Need to heal, let me pull my heal-mote off my wii-belt.

I just had to post a link to this week's Flash Tub on SomethingAwful.

Hilarious poking fun at Wii whiners. Be sure to click the name Bowen at the end for a bonus rant.

How ya doing, buddy?

Opera will be free untl June 2007. I wonder why they're going to start charging for it after that, though? Meh, oh well, good news indeed!

Until then? That seems odd... is it a one time fee? I don't plan on using it much either way... but am curious.

Think of it as a reward. This is for the fans who have supported the Wii early on and have stuck by Nintendo through the hard times. Anyways, Opera at no charge is going to be amazing.

Exactly. He's saying he wants to take gaming away from the fat, sweaty nerds and reclaim it in the name of people who are actually cool.
I agree with him.

Umm, from what I've read on IGN, Link DOES carry around his items. He has the bow slung over his shoulder when he's not using it, you can see his bomb bag being carried at his side when you get it, etc. Also, apparently, when you're carrying more items around Link moves slower. While it wasn't clear how this would be executed, I assume that the three items you have assigned to the quick-access bar are the ones you see on him. 'Cause it would look pretty ridiculous seeing him run around with a bazillion items. And apparently there are quite a few more in this game than in OoT.

Yeah, it's been something Nintendo's been plugging from their very first announcement of Wii specs a long time ago, so you must've been under a rock . The Wii is Wi-Fi ready out of the box, and there is no built-in ethernet cable plug, but you can buy a USB adaptor to use ethernet if you absolutely can't get wireless.

Thread needs more box art. <3

I think Activision have a new low with Downhill Jam's box. It's like he's trying to shit, maybe as an attack?

Quote:
The Play History is another new feature offered by the Wii, and refers to the console's ability to keep track of, obviously, what games have been played and for how long. Originally, Iwata himself pitched the "Outlandish suggestion" of offering parents the option of setting the console to automatically turn off after a set amount of time, but technically, the idea was not feasible.

Instead, the Play History was birthed, and the data collected is unable to be deleted and can be viewed by parents. More excitingly, "It's just really fun for users to be able to see the record of how long they played," said Iwata. "In the future, we could make it possible to plot on a graph how much you've played. Also, with users' cooperation, we could compile data on which game was the most played that year."
Neat new Wii feature! I've been wanting something like this for a while.

I've wanted this for awhile, but mostly with non-RPGs which are also time consuming. What Iwata said just sounds like an excuse so parents can see just how many hours their kids have spent playing games. Which isn't a bad idea, I guess, but it's not like the parents weren't capable of setting boundaries in the first place.
