Here's two more I'm looking for:

- Frogger Beyond
- Circus Maximus

Both were composed by Big Idea Music and are avaible for the PS2 and other systems.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GameCube and Wii. I'm not sure if the composition was a collaboration or not, but the music is fucking awesome.

Usually Zelda games come out with soundtracks, but so far I haven't heard anything about it yet. More discussion about Twilight Princess music can be found here. http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/au...ncess-ost.html

I'm very interested in a rip of "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream," the adventure game based on the award-winning novella. I'd love to rip it myself, but only have access to a PC version, since the Macintosh port is rare and expensive. I was able to find the music files on the disc, but they're in an unknown format that I haven't been able to decompile. I'd be happy to provide the music files, of course.

The reason that I'm so interested is that the music was composed by John Ottman, who later became a famous film composer with credits like "The Usual Suspects," "X2," and "Superman Returns" to his name.

Oh man, I was actually looking for the music for IHNMaIMS a little while ago. Nice.

What I've seen about the music was that it's MIDI, so I don't know what's with the unknown format. Ottman's page on the game has a couple of MP3'd samples to tide you over if you haven't seen it already.

Methinks that the MIDIs are inside the unknown format file; I was hoping to find actual MIDI files on the disc, since the music did sound MIDI-ish when I played the game. The filenames are MUSICGM.RES and MUSICFM.RES (about 300k apiece) if it helps convey what I meant.

Thanks for the link, though.

EDIT: Hell, the files are so tiny that I might as well post them--who knows what some enterprising sould might be able to do? I had to change the file extensions to .ZIP to upload them, but they're actually .RES files.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The files are in IFF-MIDI XMID format. I haven't got any proper MIDI playing software but I'm sure you could find something that supports .xmi files if you google for it.

Yep, I used Extractor and extracted the midis from the two sets, I've added an attachment. They seem to be the same songs but slightly different, perhaps GM stand for General MIDI? Anyway Winamp should be able to play the files, at least if you go into the midi plugin settings and make sure XMI is selected as a supported file format.

Indeed, GM stands for General MIDI. FM is for Frequency Modulation, if I'm right. If you are to record the music from a sound font, use the GM files.

Man, that's great. Thanks!

Of course, I'll never be able to hear the music, since there is apparently no player or converter that supports XMI for OS X, but at least someone will.

If you have a player that plays .mid you could try to rename the files to that, at least the plugin used in Winamp recognized the files that way.

orion, I recently did a bunch of messing around with MIDIs, since I was searching for music from old DOS games. I remember coming across xmids, but I'm not sure if I was able to play them. I'm visiting family right now, but I'll look into it when I get home (in the next couple days).

Jam it back in, in the dark.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

That'd be a (mislabeled...) gamerip, and a small one at that. Due to limited bandwidth ATM, I'd like to wait for somebody to inform me if it's a quality, complete rip worth downloading. I'm skeptical about this one.

because well, nobody in GFF rip it, and I dont think the ripper is part of these hardcore leechers. Let's see it in more positive way.

Anyway, the quality of the rip is good enough for me even though it's untagged, but to be honest, musically it's not really interesting. There are some old DQ tunes, some are new but I dont really enjoy it.

In addition to the soundtracks there are already two rips available. One older that I don't know where it came from (in mp3, the most common one), and mine (in ogg). Care to share the tracklist of your rip? Here's mine:
Good Lord, it's been nearly two weeks since I looked back here. >_< I'm not even that busy...

The common one (I'm assuming that's the one I found) is missing a ton of tracks, and I never found your Ogg Vorbis version, although admittedly I didn't search exhaustively. Mine's in MP3 form, assmbled and double looped from the game's Ogg files. I figured since there'd be some loss in decompressing, assembling into loops, and then recompressing, I might as well recompress into the more common MP3 format.

two weeks? It's been almost 3 months for me!

Yeah I was wondering if there was already a rip for the Arcade Version of Pac-Man Arranged, found on the Namco Classics Vol. 2 Arcade game. The is a rip for the GBA version, but....I'm looking for the arcade version.

Also is there a rip for Pac-Man VS on the Gamecube?

So I searched around for a while and came to a conclusion no one ever made any recordings of the early Gauntlet games. Posting here to make sure before I start doing my own rips of at least the NES ones.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
