It's the one I would like to get but I get a "requested source could not be found" page when I click on it :-/ I've tried copy-pasting it in IE as well to see if the problem is due to Firefox but that is not the case. Is it one of them on this list:

Someone really needs to get the first post in order here, because virtually none of those links seem to work properly. I've been trying to get into MUGEN for weeks now, but I'm having a hard time figuring out anything.

I've managed to snatch some characters from this thread and the ALL CHARACTERS ZERO BATTLE complete set from somewhere, so this is everything I have to get started. Somehow I managed to start my own collection of characters and stages with a clean copy of MUGEN, but ever since I wanted to install that EVE screenpack everyone is talking about.

Although this question might sound dumb and has been asked previously but how do you install this damn thing? I'm dropping the folders in their appropriate place (overwriting some files) but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm sure we all agree that newbie questions such as these should be kept out of here, but in order to achieve this, the first post needs to be updated with at least some working links and basic guides on how to do things with MUGEN! In its current state, this thread isn't of much help (if any at all) for us MUGEN rookies.

All right im gonna post some stuff up due to rock saying that no one of the previous links for mugen work so here i go.

To get a clean start on mugen without anything going for you, you want to watch this video as it will get you started on mugen.

There are also 4 more videos done by these guys that will show you how to install characters, stages, screenpacks, and lifebars so its very helpful.

Okay now you've got a good idea of whats going on and now to find you some characters and stages. If the link mrallex provided for characters isnt working then i will put them back up but you can use these sites for characters and stages.

this is where you can pick up 3 special characters but you have to install them and they are in french so idk if you want them or not.

i dont have the link but if you want a ton of stages look for shin akuma's web page i think that wooshaq has the link posted somewhere but hes got a lot of stages to get you started.

i know it kinda sucks but if you cant find a character/stage you want or the link is down try google to find the character/stage. Its kinda of guess and click i know but i found many good characters on my google travels for another character so dont get down on yourselves.

Last but not least dont be afraid to request a character or stage here becuase odds on someone here probly has it and would be willing to share.

So here are fresh links and tutorials to get everyone started or help them find what they want.(If anyone wants to add a link to this let me know and i'll edit the post)

As far as I know, my character links are still working. Unless you're really hard pressed for comp space, please download those or the torrents before requesting characters. But, like I said, if you need to save computer space...

I finally managed to install the EVE pack. The archive I downloaded had improper path names, so I had to manually move files to the data folder. Finally, works like a charm.

Now I need some help in customizing the character select screen. EVE should support categories, right? Because I don't seem to be able to use character categories in my copy. What do I need to do in order to use categories?

well the easyest and less time consuming way is to simply find a screen pack that already does this and look at their code.

yeah you guys.... im new here.... you guys have some great MUGEN games.... i used to play the DBZME 2 Edition all thetime... but realized my own custom game would be better, so i started from scratch.... have a few chars, but right now, my specialty is palettes.... i have some GOOD magneto pals.... but anyways.... great job... if you need a pal for someone... just ask me! if i have the char ill do it, if not... you'll have to send me the char! :biggrin:

here is a decent gambit file for everyone who has a corrupted one.

there are tutorials on how the make the categories rock on other forums right now the process on how to do it escapes me but i'll post it as soon as i can remember it.

Hey there! Wicked Thread for Mugen...

I have created a Mugen with all the marvel characters. The one that I am missing and cannot seem to find anywhere is Sabretooth...

Using the MT3 screen pack and the MVC lifebars looks fantastic.

I wanted to post some screens but apparently I'm not allowed as of yet being new here...

Anyone have Sabretooth? Can not find him anywhere and no-one seems to have him... Would be much appreciated!

HI everyone! This is a really awsome forum. i have a request for sum characters in order of proiority.

1.zidane ff9 (i cant find anywhere)
2. pretty much any ff character would make me really happy. i have sephiroth and cloud and thats all. and i have that really crappy squall that was posted a while back from the forum starter.

Forget it, there aren't any FF chars. No fighting games with FF characters = no source to rip the sprites. There was nicely looking Tifa wip in the past but it was canceled. So you are left with those crappy trio.

Reason there are so few Final Fantasy characters is as WooshaQ said. the fact is that they have so few sprites. Other than Kingdom Hearts Cloud whom is actually the best FF character out there currently. In order to make those sprites, you'd need to spend hundreds of hours editing about 700-900 sprites(for a good character) Or dare I say make them from scratch. I think it just isn't worth it...
