Do you use an official version of openCanvas4? I'm using a pirated 3.02E Plus and it's doing well for me, but if you have pirated 4 I'd like to snab it from you, haha. I'm really bad at digital lineart, especially in Photoshop. I've been experimenting with oC and Painter and I like them a lot.

Question, the last two human pictures you posted, was that all oC? It looks a bit like you used Painter for the colors.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, for me, the difference between version 3 and version 4 is negligible, actually, the big difference here is now they have a preset pen template, but I do not use nips other then the original ones often. I am using a official version, sorry. >.> ;;

Lady Ruby and GFF Chan are both done in OC. I don't have Painter, but I suspect that it is much more advanced then OC in many aspects. The issue is mainly the method that I used. Its very much intended to imitating the coloring style of HTK, with pencil work and coloring in the same layer and carefully going over color patches while perserving some pencil lines.

I didn't realized that HTK usually doesn't ink his work until I saw some of the high resolution scan of his concept arts. Its very interesting because his color work is so strong that it overpowers the line in most cases.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh? I was under the impression Hyung-tae Kim used Painter, at least on a great number of his Magna Carta works, from what I've seen in Oxide 2X. You probably know more than I do, though.

Well, even when you are using OpenCanvas, you can still try to *imitate the coloring style. I am not saying HTK is using OpenCanvas.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yeah, I understand. It's really quite a flexible program from what I can see. It eases the pain after trying so hard using the overfeatured Photoshop.

Those two pieces are really nice though, keep it up!

Is there a version for Mac (OS X)?

Also, can you describe your drawing/inking process Magi? What tools do you use, what kind of paper? I've always just used a mechanical pencil and computer paper. The drawings are fine, but the lines are too rough. I need to learn how to ink or at least clean up my work for scanning. Can you recommend a good pen/marker for inking? (I draw small, so fine point is everything. Unfortunately I've never been able to find a fine enough inking tool).

BTW, how's that AC04 fan video coming along?

You mean OpenCanvas? Hmm, I wonder. Although I am sure Painter has a Mac version. Its pretty expensive though.

I usually ink with Pigma Micron Archival (sakura), with .8 mm for the heavy outline that goes over larger shapes and .3 mm or .1 mm for fine details. I usually do those drawings on Computer Papers, I preferr heavier papers.

Although those paper doesn't allow the type of clean crisp line that use get when using a illustration board, but those are kinda expensive. I usually use a HB/ or B2 (lead) mechanical pencil for sketching, usually I do pretty clean drawings before I actually ink them, and then I clean up using steadler. The type of red eraser that we usually get leaves marks and doesn't erase cleanly.

On AC film: I just switch computer, so I don't have all the resources ported over yet. I am also waiting for the next version of the software that I was using to come out, so its at the stand still at the moment. Atlhough I can probably working on some more modeling for that, but I need to wait for thing to settle down a little (kinda of a confusing time at the moment, I was very busy recently) until I tackle something as time consuming as a fan film.

I am working on my own portfolio piece at the moment, i'll be going all out. :3

Experiment with the background a little bit. :3

I was just having some fun, but this really screw up the entire lighting scheme.

Now Fixing the proportion a little. Moving the boots. It feels too long.

Your skills have improved since I remember from 3 years ago.

Don't forget cgtalk.com and conceptart.org are good resources too.

Well, its not like I don't hang around at that place. Although it is mainly to get some much needed inspiration.

I probably will come to a stopping point on this piece soon.
