RPG characters you like that everybody else hates.

Hmm, shall I add Rinoa to the list? I know quite a lot of people hate her, but I didn't (along with Squall). I guess it's maybe because I don't hate videogame characters that easily (except for Yuffie and Quina). If I remember correctly it was somethign that happened midway through the game that made me like her even more (can't recall for now, will have to replay it)

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I liked Rikku, but maybe because she was the only cheery one while everyone else was all CRAWLING IN MY SKIN towards the end of the game.

My character would be FFIX's Amarant, which I'm mostly a fan of these characters that have that "I don't need your help" or "I can do stuff on my own"

Id say Vincent from FF7. I dont know about you guys, but all of my friends hated vincent for some reason, so im assuming alot of people do? I thought he was a badass from hell type dude.

I don't know, maybe it's just your friends. Cause I don't see why Vincent would be getting his own game if alot of people hated him.

I think I'm the only person who ever liked Shion Uzuki. She was a real bitch towards Allen, but other than that I liked her personality. Who doesn't like smart chicks? Her apathetic tech wiz attitude was the thing I liked most about her, along with the fact that she had some of the best abilities in the game. I liked her more in Episode 1 than 2 because she had a much better voice actress, like mostly all the other characters as opposed the abomination of Episode 2. Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that she made KOS-MOS, one of my all time favorite characters.

Exactly that is true. Is that out yet? if so does anyone know if its any good?

It comes out in August unless it gets pushed back. Obviously it's already out in japan, but I haven't heard much about it. I'm getting it no matter what though cause Vincent was my favorite character.

They probably hated him because they kept forgetting to get him. Or it could have been his Limit Breaks--which I didn't care for, so I never used them after the first time. I like controlling my characters--so he was my healer.

As for Selphie....I liked her, but so did my friends. You have to admit, she had one of the more interesting introductions of a video game character. And I loved her weapon. She and Quistis were always with Squall when I could get away with it.

I actually liked the main characters from most of the final fantasy games. Particularly Tidus, Zidane, Squall, and Celes (FF 10, 9, 8, 6 respectively).
I hated Cloud. And Cecil (FF4) pissed me off, cause he was whiny. Then again, so was Squall, but I found him to be a great character by the time I got to Ragnarok.
I can't understand why anyone would care about Cait Sith enough to like him or dislike him in the first place.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't know if every one hated her but one of my friends really hated Alice from shadow hearts. I really liked her. It's not to often when the "weak girl mage/healer" turns out to actually save the neck of the bad ass hero of the game. The only thing I didn't like about her is that she was useless after her mp was drained and quite a few bosses liked doing that.

I'm also another person who likes Dart. He usually gets bashed in reviews--being referred to as the stereotypical hero with no real character development, but that can be said for everyone else in LoD too.

I liked Melbu Frahma, although being the typical evil final boss. Maybe it's because he BECOMES a bloody plane, and all the weird weird stuff.

Then of course I also like Meru. I think she's adorable, and her voice is cute. And hammers. Tat's quite cool. (Hammers are quite an underappreciated weapon.)

Then, from Breath Of Fire 4.

I liked Fou-lu. I don't know why, but I just end up liking him. Maybe because when compared with Ryu... or anyone else for that matter in that game, he owns.

Raiden for me. Got no loving from MGS2 from fans. Hideo Kojima himself he was poorly received in the States. Probably why he's re-doing him so drastically for MGS4.

Trying to think of who else because I know I've played many games.

Unfortunately I can't think of anything for the time being. I could say some for anime but I suppose this isn't the correct thread for that.

Auron from FFX, I think Auron is overlooked. All my friends hate him because they like people like Tidus or Yuna some even Wakka.

Although I can't be too sure, it seems to me that no one liked Asellus (SaGa Frontier). I thought she was an interesting character; she seemed to have a personality, and a bit of spunk to boot. Also, green hair and a pink dress are definite winners.

I agree, I also liked Rinoa, and it may be for the same reason, but I really can't see why she was all that bad. Her Limit was kind of fun to watch too.

I did like Quina though. That thing is terrifying. Yuffie... she's alright.

What's wrong with "The End" limit? Too easy to use? I didn't find her in any way annoying at all, although she wasn't one of my favourite characters.

I never had a problem with Yuffie or Cait Sith either, and I used them quite regularly in battle. In fact, I can't think of any character that really bugged me at all.

I remember Kojima saying that he wanted to attract more of the female audience in Japan by having a young male character like Raiden.

But I don't know many people from the U.S. who liked his character either.

Auron's my favorite from FFX, and I don't think he's actually overlooked, but maybe overexposed. That may be why your friends don't like him. Kind of like hearing a song 20 times in one day can make you hate that song.
