If you have the ability of importing from play-asia or somewhere, there's no contest:

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is my favorite fighting game from SNK by far.

I think there's a King of Fighters 2000 + 2001 collection released on NTSC and PAL for PS2 as well. Concerning fighters, there isn't half as many in america/europe SNK titles as there are japanese. I haven't bothered with the 01+02 collection as I already own King of Fighters 2000 (which is my favorite KoF) but there's a ton of them which were japan-only releases that my friend has.

Anyway can someone please explain how it's possible to play Metal Slug on a PSP? No jokes, I don't know how.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you mean the controls, it would be just like the arcade layout (four face buttons, but only 3 are usable). With that and the widescreen, it's perfect for Metal Slug, though I have yet to see how bad the load times are.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh hey, so this has been playable at that Fusion Tour thingy, apparently the game has a bajillion control methods. You can either hold the Wiimote on its side like a normal control pad and just use the dpad and buttons, use the Classic Controller, use a GameCube controller or you can swing the Wiimote to move and use the Nunchuck to throw grenades (why).

How ya doing, buddy?

I doubt there will be many, if at all, graphical improvements. Kinda ruins the nostalgia factor.

I meant more along the lines of how the porting went, and just overall impression. Wasn't even thinking graphical enhancements,

Gamespot has a neat video showing the different control methods of the game. It has 6 different configurations (one of them allows you to use the Gamecube controller).

If you're interested in this game, this clip is definitely worth your time.
I didn't catch the release date at the end of the video, though.

Hey guys, I know this is a bit off-topic, but when exactly is the PS2 version of the Metal Slug Anthology supposed to be released? I checked EBGames and Gamestop and they said it was supposed to be released on December 4th while Game Crazy has the date on November 14. Which is the correct date?

I was speaking idiomatically.

There is no PS2 version, sir or madam. There's a PSP version, though.

What the hell? No PS2 version? What a load of horseshit. It's even listed being available for the PS2 at Game Crazy, Game Stop, and EBGames. I could have sworn I saw a magazine ad saying it's coming for the PS2.

BTW, I am a sir.

I thought so as well, but I haven't seen anything mentioning a PS2 version on SNK Playmore's site. On the Japanese site, there's a list of all PS2 games coming out this winter and Spring 2007, and a Metal Slug Complete (JPN title) is not listed.

I remember a while back someone in chat warbling about the PS2 version being confirmed, but his source was a rumor on Metal Slug Database and because he thought holy shit they are so never wrong, man.

There is no mention of a PS2 version on SNK's own sites, while there are sections for the Wii and PSP versions, so I remain sceptical to say the least.

So what happened, did this actually make the American launch or what? ;_;

The PAL version has some box art now, but no real confirmed date (it might be crushed at the prom)

I saw some display cases of the game at a Gamestop, so I doubt it hasn't.

I will get this game Wednesday instead of Monday, so I'll have something to look forward to after my presentation.

Am I the only one who thinks Metal Slug is a bit overwhored? Aside from Metal Slug 6, theres nothing extra special in this anthology pack, and Metal Slug 6 was worse then MS5, which was in turn worse then MS4 (ms5 had the Pimp Slug and some nice music, but other then that it was godawful). And, well, ms4 wasnt exactly stellar either.

All of the MS games are already playable on near every console in existence from Saturn to upwards, and they aint exactly adding any extras that make them special either. Controlling this game from a Wii mote is a very bad joke, and other then that, they will probably add nothing but a POW name list and an art gallery full of pictures that you can already find online.

I guess they arent like Sega who splice up the ingredients of 2 good compilation to halves, and then sell 4 completely seperate titles out of the permutations.

Personally - as odd as this sounds: I have never played a Metal Slug game in my life. Not so much as put a quarter into a machine. However - I downloaded the boxset and fell in love with the music.

I'm looking forward to playing this once I snag a wii.

The fact that its a Metal Slug anthology pack is enough. $50 (or $60, whatever) for every game in the series? Especially considering the original cart prices (as ridiculous as they were)? I think it's the best deal the Wii and the PSP are probably ever going to have.

I picked this up yesterday and it's a Metal Slug fan's dream. I haven't logged that much time with it yet, but so far the Gamecube control option seems to be the best one to me. The Wii controls are neat, they just take some getting used to and seem to make you loose allot more lives then a "normal" controller would (and it's a pain to throw grenades). Metal Slug 1,2 and X don't have any load times, while 3-6 have a tiny bit of load times whenever the scene switches. Overall I'd say it'd definitely worth the money if you're a Metal Slug fan, and if you haven't played the series before and are into classic side scrolling shooters give it a rental.

Edit: Only the first two games are load time free, just played X and it has the loading screen between sections like the rest of the games.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh wow, this is out already?

Hmm, this will be my first actual Wii game purchased. The question is, should I import it and wait for the Wii Freeloader, or just wait until it arrives in PAL?
