I never found the Silver Coin Challenges to be too hard, until the 2nd quest where they Mirror all the courses (like extra in MK64), make the CPU much faster and put the coins in ludicrious places. Took me like 30 tries just to FIND all the coins in Frosty Village (There's like a XBOX sized area with thousands of trees, how was I supposed to know the coins were in the FAR LEFT AND RIGHT of that area).

I do remember getting so good to the point where I could beat Wizpig (both of them) in my sleep. Even the cheat code "TIMETOLOSE" Which ramps up the CPU difficulty to insanity couldn't stop me. Unfortunately, it wasn't till years later after I lost the cartridge that I realized there were Staff times in the game that I completely forgot about

I hope they do retain the difficulty level, to be honest.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I remember that track. What was worse about those 2 coins was that you had to treck through the snow, which slowed your cart down, just to get to them. There were zippers there, but they didn't help you all that much.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

We found it to be impossible any other way. I really fucking hope Rare tones that game's difficulty down because it was ridiculous. We shouldn't have had to resort to that tactic.
You all FAIL at being nerds. My brother and I both completed Diddy Kong Racing by ourselves. I, for one, really appreciated the challenge element since it translates into more value for gaming $$$s. [/bragging]

Man, I saw some of the games coming out for the DS and just HAD to buy one but this game has taken the awesome to the next level. I always wished the SNES Mariokart had a track editor but I suppose this will be the next best thing. Nothing adds replay to a racing game like the ability to make your own tracks.

I really hope they don't tone down the difficulty. Being hard was part of the attraction, IMO.

I went back and re-played the game recently. The game is balls hard, but it's certainly possible, with practice.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm going to be very cautious with this one. Even though I beat the N64 game once, I got so tired of trying to grab all those coins, and get first place. That and the somewhat screwy controls with the water vehicle really sucked all the fun out of the game for me. If this one's like the N64 version, and I have no reason to believe it wouldn't be, I'll probably just be sticking to Mario Kart.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Thank you Guest for the kickass signature!

I wouldn't call it screwy, I'd call it honest. Hovercrafts don't have the best turning radius since they operate without a rudder.

This controls of the hovercraft are easily fixed by "jump-turning".

EDIT: Also, check out the Diddy Kong Racing DS Wikipedia Page

I wonder how much customization they'll allow for in the custom vehicles.
Funny that, for the most part, Conker was still the innocent little squirrel in Bad Fur Day. Sure, he got drunk etc, but the worst word I think he ever said was 'arse'.

Diddy Kong Racing is an awesome game, but damn that game was hard.

I was obsessed with it back in the day. I unlocked EVERYTHING in the entire game. Ticktock kicks everyone's ass, I swear. Especially the hovercraft version.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

will the Genie be there too ?

""I'm the genie of the island"
PAUSE
"I'm here to help you"
PAUSE
"Good luck"

and then he vanishes to reappear somewhere else. and he's not helping. What a great character.

I liked this game, a friend always made fun of me for playing it, but then again, he sucked hardcore at it.

I only found the game hard at times, but I love a challenge sometimes.

I did beat the game myself, and numerous times.

The thing i hated the most in this game was using the hovercraft in water, for some reason i never really got good using it, only good enough to beat the game.

I too am looking forward to this game coming to the DS. It was great fun in the N64 days. Took a while to beat and unlock all of the secrets, but wasn't it satisfing once you did. Some of the Staff times are near impossible to beat. I don't think that I ever did beat them all.

So is this a port?

I enjoyed the first game, but not enough to purchase it again, on a handheld, almost ten years later.

Let's hope the developers keep everything that was great about DKR64 (the beautiful gameplay, superb difficulty curve, fun minigames [oh man the TT challenges were awesome], etc.)

Does anyone know if Rare will be developing this? If not, who? =S

As far as Conker is concerned, just use his Bad Fur Day voice.

I meen, they could have a voice sample for losing being
"oh for-!"
and stuff like that.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wi-Fi should be a given. I mean, if Mario Kart DS can do it, this should be a no brainer. But I wasn't expecting this...

No snaking! Yes!

I HAD nothing against snaking, but after going back to playing MK for FUN after a long hiatus on WiFi, rampant snakers and DCérs aren't just worth it.

Rare said that Conker Live & Reloaded was supposedly an "enhanced" port. So take that for what it's worth.
