Takano-san's case?

Spoiler:
Do you mean the time where Keichi was the one to kill people? Basically, she got in his way, he wished for Oyashiro-sama to kill Takano-san, since she was the only witness. While she herself has done something too (maybe she killed that photographer?).

And if you mean why she got killed in the Shion/Mion stories...I'm starting to think there was something interesting in Oyashiro-sama's temple that they stole or saw, while Shion and Keichi did not see/take anything, so the curse did not kill them. What killed them was basically Shion's sadness of losing Satoshi. While Keichi died because he did not listen to Shion's warning (to stay away from her).

Vexe:

Spoiler:
I'm specifically talking about in story arc two, it was mentioned that her body was bound burned... but the Takano-san Keichi and others saw on the night of Watanagashi could not have been the real Takano-san: Takano-san was already dead by the time that happened.

Spoiler for episode 21 (and everything before). DON'T FUCKING READ UNLESS YOU'VE WATCHED EVERYTHING SO FAR OR YOU'LL SERIOUSLY REGRET IT, GO INSANE, AND ON A MURDEROUS RAMPAGE.

Spoiler:
When they first introduced Shion, I didn't like her much, compared to Mion anyway. But with that last arc, she certainly redeemed herself! I don't like her as much as Mion, but she's certainly one fine psycho. That she was acting with absolutely no regard as to her own life, shown no remorse when torturing people, or just plain killing them, and would have actually gotten away with it if not for that tiny little thing at the end, just makes the whole thing even better. She ranks somewhere with Kimbley from Fullmetal Alchemist, another favorite in my book.

That aside, this still leaves a few questions. Who killed Keichi in the hospital? Chances are it's Shion, but how she managed to stay alive is probably a bigger enigma. Also, Takano was burned the day before they got in the storehouse, I think, so that's a bit of a problem too. Then there's the whole "Where the fuck is Satoshi?" thing, assuming Mion wasn't lying at the end. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm just going to say all three is Oyashiro-sama's fault. Satoshi got killed because of his family (with Rika, the priestess, protecting Satoko from Oyashiro-sama), Takano got killed by Oyashiro-sama for... uh... some reason or another, and the one who led Shion and Keichi in the storehouse was Oyashiro-sama taking Takano's form, and the "Shion" at the end was, again Oyashiro-sama. There. It all makes sense. More or less.

Also I'd like to reiterate just how deliciously wicked Shion was. I love Higurashi no naku koro ni.

Yes! After watching episode 21, this series has become more awesome than I could possibly imagine.

Spoiler:
I kinda knew what was already going to happen to Satoko, but I had no idea it'd be that graphic. That scene was really over the top, but totally in line with how psychotic Shion has become.

This answers a lot of the questions I had from the second arc. If I had to venture a guess as to how Keiichi actually dies in the second arc, I'm guessing that Shion appearing at the end of episode 8 was him hallucinating (remember, he does have a history of this).

Also, with the whole Oyashiro deal, there's a lot of good evidence out there to support a supernatural explanation. However, after watching episode 21, my feeling is drifting back towards a human cause. Oyashiro does probably exist, but he doesn't actually carry out any of these crimes. Humans are completely to blame

I read about this one in someone's sig, and went on to watch ep #1. I'm at #12 now. I've never been so thrilled while watching anime. It's just awesome.

By the way, Episode 22 should be subbed and ready to go by Tuesday, seems to be the standard release day by Wind. I really like this last arc, and how it focuses on Rena, because Rena is the end all be all of pure awesome.

Man, I'm stoked. I finally managed to convert someone, and I don't even know the dude. Awesome. Who would have thought avatars and sigs could be used for subliminal messaging?

Actually make that 2 converted people, Freelance Wolf. The sig also got me interested in the series. I'm about to see the first 4 episodes, but from what I've read in the reviews of animenfo.com and here in GFF, it looks like one of the best series in a long time. I hope that's the case. I've been wanting to see something that's worth it. I'll write what I think when I'm done watching.

Yes, but did you like it? I can't really call that converting someone if they don't like it or haven't seen it!

I'm usually very picky when it comes to shows, so the fact I enjoy this one has got to count for something!

I just saw ep 23 today!

Spoiler:
2 murders! Gruesome! Awesome!

Ep. 23.

Spoiler:

Well, I saw that one coming. I wonder if Ooishi will die in the next one.

I liked how the deaths of Teppei and Rina were so graphic - even more graphic than the previous ones. Seeing her scrambled face made me cringe.

Ep. 23

Spoiler:
Rena is more serious about this than I thought. I mean, I knew she was going to do some killing, but I never expected her to cut two corpses into small pieces and then package those into nice little bags. She certainly does a good job once she gets started on something, I have to give her that. Though I don't really understand why she didn't just leave the corpses in that fridge or hide them somewhere in the dump. If no one ever goes there, what are the chances of someone finding the corpses?

Also, I loved it when she killed that bitch. The other guy wasn't as satisfying, despite Rena finally using her iconic weapon to split his skull in two.

Spoiler:

Whoa. Biological terrorism? That conversation along with the creepy music was frightening. The last image of the preview was also interesting. Was that Keiichi attacking Rena?

When Taco first told me about the premise of the show, I was highly skeptical after viewing some images in this thread. He promised me that the cute girls would get splattered in it, so I DLed some eps and now I'm converted.

There's only two more eps left. I wonder who will win...

Yeah, I couldn't show the blood splatter. That would've given things away waaay too fast .

Spoiler:
As far as that last image is concerned, I'm guessing it to be a mercy kill. Rena is infected with the maggots and may be growing much more berserk. I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted someone to put her out of her misery.

Ep. 25

Spoiler:
Ok. What the hell is going on here? They start to give us what seems like answers in the last episode, but no, after all it's only the work of some conspiracy theorist. Who got killed 24 hours before she was last seen alive. And Keichi remembers the events of the first arc. And of course Rika is apparently possessed by Oyashiro-sama or whatever spirit. Oh, and did I forget that Keichi was apparently a serial killer before he moved to that village of crazies?

Would it really be that hard for the writers to give us answers?

Also, I suggest they call an exorcist for Rika. Then burn the whole place to the ground. Now I see why they wanted to build that dam and flood the place.

I don't know. It thought ep. 25 was a nice change of pace with a lot of heartfelt moments in it. I especially like the scenes where

Spoiler:
Keiichi talks to his friends about his past,

Keiichi dreams up events from the first arc and is shocked and horrified about it all,

and of course, when he gives Real Shion a hug.

Through these acts, Keiichi's pretty much been able to redeem himself of his psychopathic ways. I can only hope that he'll be able to prevent the tragedy and bring Rena back down to earth.

Ep. 25

Spoiler:
They might be fake. They might not be. At this point, the real question is, who the hell cares to take a guess? It might be parasites, alien parasites, spirits or perhaps tiny storm troopers under the control of Lord Vader, sent on the order of Emperor Palpatine himself, who received his orders from Satan Claus through the russian mafia. I'll wait until I've seen the last episode, at which point everything will either make sense or I'll simply go crazy trying to make some sense out of everything.

And no, I don't know who "Satan Claus" is either.

Ep 25
Spoiler:

I dunno...I don't like the idea of Aliens being the ones responsible.

What I'm confused about is how this arc is connected to the first arc. Are we talking seperate dimensions here?

Just when the story is pointing strictly to a natural explanation, it suddenly turns into a supernatural explanation. I'm sure the writers are going back and forth just to confuse us and make us think it can go both ways >_>

Okay, now that we know about Keichi's evil past, I wonder if everyone in the entire village were also involved in such crimes before moving to the village. Perhaps people from outside are killing them each year for getting away with their crimes, and pinning it down to Gods and parasites.

The idea of the Underground Earth people is funny :D

I was seriously expecting some sort of vicious splatter after seeing Rena with her machete several times. Is she infected by the parasites or possessed by the stupid God?

How ya doing, buddy?

Spoiler:
The woman that was with Mion (or was it actually Shion?) and Kasai - who was she? I think she also appeared in another arc, as well. Do you think she has any relation to the Sonozaki family? Say, Mion/Shion's mother?

Also, I was expecting Rena to go to town on someone with that machete. XD She may yet...
