With the final release of Dapper Drake, I've given Xgl another shot and it works beautifully, even on KDE. I did have to spend a few hours trying to figure out how to get it working, bu that was mostly because everyone I asked kept giving me the wrong information.
I strongly advise anyone with the vaguest of interest in this to give it a shot. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Has the KDE extension for Compiz made any progress or is the one for Gnome still required?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm still running gnome-window-decorator, but I don't have to log in using GDM or anything like that.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yeah I tried this with dapper drake, was a pain in the ass that I gave up. How long did it take you to set up xgl?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
A couple of hours, really. Now that I have a conclusive, actual knowledge of how to do it, I could probably get a Kubuntu installation running Xgl with Compiz in under an hour.
I'd still have no idea how to do it for standard Ubuntu, though >,< What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
