Perhaps the Wi-Fi thing will be two player battles, you know, like they had in the SNES days.

No set release in Japan so probably not for a long while yet anywhere else.

This looks amazing. one more reason why I'm glad to have a DS. For some reason I would've figured that a game like this would've been released on PSP because of it's prettier graphics capabilities, but I guess more people have purchased a DS instead.

How ya doing, buddy?

I dunno about the dungeon and town scale, though. It actually makes dungeons harder to navigate with the camera zoomed in so close. They're letting pretty graphics interfere with the actual gameplay again.

Good to hear they're rebalancing the jobs, though. FF3 had terrible job balance; there was no compelling reason to use half of them. Dragoons and Dark Knights only ever really saw use because of specific segments of the game that forced you to use those classes. Dual-wielding was also way too abusable; it just wasn't practical to use shields when you could just have three knights play human cuisinart.

Looks great, one small hitch though... I don't and won't have a DS for this... here's hoping they take the logical approach and and make a ps2 version as well (probably too much to hope but god knows it would sell).

I don't see how it's a logical step to remake a remake of a game but okay.

I think the scan that Kairi Li posted is the Shonen Jump article that is reporting a July 2006 release date in Japan. Anybody who can read Japanese care to confirm this? - http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...4941783325.jpg

It says Release Date: To be announced. (Literally means unconfirmed but you get the idea)

Call me crazy, but I would have preferred a high quality 2d game versus the pseudo 3d game they are making now. I might be proven wrong, but there is just an inherent difficulty in translating Amano's designs to a polygon world. Especially the low polygon limited world that is possible on the Nintendo DS. I'm still interested in it, because III was my favorite of the first 3 games.

Eh, who am I kidding? If a reliable DS emulator doesn't end up coming out, I will probably never play it.

Shoeless, Amano isn't doing the design for this remake - Akihiko Yoshida is the new character designer. Since his characters are easier to translate into 3D than Amano's, I think that isn't a big problem after all.

And I just realized that I'd want a good DS emulator as well, since I cannot afford to buy one myself~

Yeah, judging from the scans, I'm having doubts about making the game 3d. Oh well, I still need a good RPG in my DS library.

I don't get what's so wrong with it. It looks perfectly fine, and it'll be displayed on a small screen. If anything, people emulating it are going to get the shafted experience because the default size would be too small and you'd need to play in a window two or three times larger, which would stretch and pixilate everything something awful. It's the main reason I bought a flashcard for GBA games. Tired of the horrible scaling when increasing the window size.

There won't be a PS2 remake. Right on the bloody page with all the CG it says DS. This will be a DS title. Period.

Game Labo reported that Square Enix's Final Fantasy III remake will also appear on PS2, the PS2 version allows player to switch between the original and remake version at the title screen.

Never heard of that media outlet but it was posted in Magic Box this week. Take it for whatever its worth I guess.
