Nomination. Not the best tune, but I got kind of addicted to it listening to the soundtrack, so I'll give it a shot here.

3 pts. - Mellow Groove
1 pt. - Fort City Llylgamyn
1 pt. - Endress Train
1 pt. - Sensation

Nomination. Not the best tune, but I got kind of addicted to it listening to the soundtrack, so I'll give it a shot here.

Tales of the Tempest OST
Feln
Motoi Sakuraba
I don't think that's fit for SotW (both cause it's a Motoi song from a Tales game and cause the game just came out and it's likely the soundtrack/rip will get a good amount of attention).

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

It's customary to wait a little while after a major release like that to put it up for SotW, anyway. So maybe it should be shelved until we see how things turn out.

Also, nom time!

Man, this looks to be quite the impasse. Or have we silently begun the two-week SotW period already?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Damn, I thought this shit would be closed by now. I guess my tardiness wasn't met with retribution.

3 points - 19XX THE WAR AGAINST DESTINY - CAPCOM Game Sound Track - City light in the black strait Mission5
Nothing elaborate about the structure, but I'm fond of the synth, and it has some catchy hooks. Also, is this really two tracks in one? Seems kinda like cheating, but I'm not complaining.

1 point - The Lunatic - Ibara Remix Tracks - Endress Train
My big complaint about this is that the beginning part of the original melody now sounds totally different (and may I say not quite as interesting) in this new slower style. However the apex of the melody stands strong and lends itself well to this style. This arrangement is still very solid overall, even if I was hoping for more substance.

1 point - Kukeiha Club pro-fusion ~Salamander~ - SENSATION
Not trying to be a stick in the mud, but I honestly prefer the original track over this version. The original track is awesome, and would have no problem getting three points from me.

1 point - Wizardry ~ Llylgamyn Saga - Fort City Llylgamyn
Really nice mood going on here. Smooth and sombre.

Honorable Mention: The Curse of Monkey Island (Game Rip) - Main Titles
Good melody, even if it is on the short side.

"Oriental Memory" would have gotten a point if it weren't longer than the Great Wall of China.

Okay, I'm tired of this.

RUNOFF VOTE

Voting will close in 24 hours, so be swift! This will decide which track takes second and which takes third. (Thanks to Kaleb's votes, Sensation is this week's winner.)

EDIT: This means that voting is closed. No new point spreads.

Alright, I'll change it because it's a Tales game, but you're confusing Tales of Innocence, which just came out and doesn't even have an OST by Sakuraba, with Tales of the Tempest, which came out in October of last year.

Minna no Golf 5 OST
Iris Field C.C.
Gon Ohtsuji

You're right; my apologies.

Also, at the risk of seeming like the nomination police...

Really? I would think Sakuraba's work on the Mario sports titles (particularly Mario Tennis) is pretty well known. I mean, SotW's original purpose is to "promote the proliferation of quality video game music that is seldom heard amongst the society of VGM fans." I just can't help but think that's talking about more obscure stuff.

Unless this is some song that wasn't featured in the game; if so, disregard my comments.

For one thing, I believe this is technically an arrange album, not an OST. For another thing, I really haven't heard anyone talking about the Mario Power Tennis soundtrack (which this track is from). For a third thing, I created SotW so I'm above the law...

And after the runoff, we have:

1). [19] Kukeiha Club pro-fusion ~Salamander~ - SENSATION
2). [18/12.5] The Curse of Monkey Island (Game Rip) - Main Titles
3). [18/12.5] Sega Tunes - ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron - Mellow Groove
4). [17] Sephiroth - Oriental Memory of Forgathering Dream ~phantasmagoria~
5). [15] The Lunatic - Ibara Remix Tracks - Endress Train
6-t). [13/8.5] 19XX THE WAR AGAINST DESTINY - CAPCOM Game Sound Track - City light in the black strait Mission5
6-t). [13/8.5] Wizardry ~ Llylgamyn Saga - Fort City Llylgamyn
8). [7] Leander (Amiga Game Rip) - Intro

Very even field this week.

With this win, Kukeiha Club pro-fusion ~Salamander~ is the first casualty of the three-places rule, and so all future nominations from this album are hereby prohibited. I'm working on a disqualified nominations page right now that'll include this, Wild Arms/Phantasy Star stuff, etc.

I'm not going to be able to do research and get the tracks together until Wednesday late afternoon/night. With the Best Doujin Contest looming, I see several options:
  1. Start Week 116 now, but end it on time. (abbreviated voting)
  2. Don't start Week 116 until next week. (several days of dead time)
  3. Start Week 116 now, but also start the voting extensions as well.
I'm definitely thinking 3 is the best course of action here, because it doesn't rush things or waste time doing nothing.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
