Yep. Most Gamecube games have a 480p mode when you have the component cables, and it looks pretty good. Of course, getting the cables and a compatible GC is another story...

You could just say "damn near impossible" now that Nintendo have decided to discontinue their distribution of component cables and both lik-sang and play-asia have them as temporarily unavailable. Hell, even browsing through google I see forums where people are asking where to buy them from.

S-video cables for Gamecube are still quite common, and are available. They're better than the standard AV cables so they're still a worthwhile last resort. I wouldn't hold out much hope for component cables as they seem pretty scarce, but there's always eBay.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, after being on backorder for a while they decided to just discontinue them?

The quality's good through S-Video, but component would've improved on it that much more and the progressive output really makes a difference.

I don't know if Nintendo decided to discontinue them after them going into backorder, but I wasn't aware that Nintendo online distributed them until today. I knew of the third party component cables from play-asia, but that's all.

Here's something I don't understand. What the hell is the point of Progressive Scan without component cables? Is that even possible? Nintendo's customer support website which I mentioned previously said that they're no longer stocking and providing customers with component cables, yet they're still supporting Progressive Scan.

I was speaking idiomatically.

That is why I am glad I bought component cables way before I got an HDTV. It was stupid of them to get rid of the component cables and the connecter in the back of the Gamecube though, that 0.1% bullshit is just that, bullshit. I think it was just an excuse so they could stop making them.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Currently Playing:Persona 3, .hack//G.U. vol 3, Wild ARMs 3, and Phantasy Star Universe (360).

To be fair, if you guys had ordered before Febuary, they would have shipped you one (They did for me.)

Kind of bullshit they stopped making them though.

The quality looks like shit on it. I thought it being HD will make my games look at little better, but all it did was make it look like shit compared to my old TV. Nothing is wrong with my TV, every HDTV in the store looks horrible (they said it was due to the cable TV...), so I ended up wasting 1600$.

Are all HDTV's like this? I'm thinking of returning this and getting a plasma TV like in a year or two since the picture quality of a Plasma TV looks much better from what I've seen.
Yup. Analog connections look like sh*t on HDTV's. It's collusion - they're trying to make you subscribe to HD cable service and buy $30 digital cables for your game consoles.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Yeah, because we all bought HDTVs for analog material.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
