Finished MGS Twin Snakes just now (with Meryl surviving at the end). Despite the lacking voice acting and the sometimes over the top cutscenes, it was plenty entertaining, though definitely not superior to the original.
Next up, finishing the game with Meryl not surviving. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer |
I realize the above post contains marginally more content then the one I made an example of what not to post, but putting an extra two words does not make the post acceptable. If the post looks like something you didn't feel like mentioning in your latest journal entry as an aside, it's deleted. I can't let the above become the norm (and it would eventually become the norm, the more people see posts like it) and this thread degenerate to completely useless <game name> <short comment> format that will have no merit whatsoever. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()

I'm in the middle of Half-Life 2 right now for the first time. I dunno, I get that it's a good game, but it's just not the type of game I like to play. I just finished DOOM 3 last week, and I like that it's fast paced with extremely good level design. There are places in HL2 which, as odd as this sounds, are prohibitively expansive (I like to explore everything before moving onto another section, which takes a hell of a lot longer and gets you little in HL2). I'm also not a fan of the vehicle sections.
I dunno, I guess I just find myself a little disappointed with it so far. I'm also trying to play through Children of Mana again. It's not as bad as I thought it was the first time I picked it up and played about an hour or two in. I mean, it's not exciting or anything, but it's a decent way to pass the time. It still disappoints me to no end how awful Square has treated the Mana franchise, but whatever. Most amazing jew boots |
I'm mostly playing God of War right now. I started the game on Easy thinking it was going to be really freaking hard, but quickly switched over to Normal once I had beaten the first stage. It's been enjoyable so far and I can see myself playing through it again on Hard, but I just wish there was a little bit more leveling up of your skills or perhaps not as many freaking archers in the sewers of athens (just finished there and they make me go
![]() Also beat the tenth colossus in Shadow of the Colossus on a whim the other night, it's just such a cool game I don't want to finish it off on my shitty little TV. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I'm taking a little break from Odin Sphere. I'm 10 hours into the game and book 2. I'm not really stuck or anything, I just need to take a break from the frustration of losing so easily. And I'm always blaming the controller and I'm worried my baby controller would be part of my TV screen. So I'm off to play Dragon Quest VIII and Tales of the Abyss. I'm more focused on DQ8 actually. The story seems alright. Not much going on right now, even though its suppose to grab my attention. But I kinda like the feeling of leveling up your characters normally. Although, I do miss the grid in FFXII, which I'm at the last boss but too tired to bother trying again. No motivation, oddly enough.
Oh, I also started Fatal Frame II, and Silent Hill 3today. I only played 6 minutes of each before immediately turning it off. There's something about ghosts/monsters in closets that doesn't really appeal to me. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Want obscure Classical Music CDs? I downloaded Cave Story recently and I've been enjoying it very much. I just reached Grassland and got the fireball weapon from Santa. Platform-type games usually aren't my thing but I'm enjoying Cave Story a lot. The music's very enjoyable, and the graphics are nice.
I also played GTA: San Andreas up until the flying school and have encountered the same frustration with the lessons as I encountered during my last play-through. I might just get my brother to help me with that shit again. Flying isn't my strong suit, especially not when you need to fly through coronas.
Although I did play a lot of Fatal Frame I. yeah, i'm easily scared FELIPE NO |
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Going through it first time ever, and I fucking love this one so far. In fact I think it's better than Twilight Princess. All the "Celda" haters need to STFU; the artstyle is fantastic to look at and hella funny, and the story is a breath of fresh air after every single time we got the same rehashed tale in the other games. Plus it's just a hell of a lot of fun to play, like the other games in the series. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition It's the same brilliant experience as on the GC, only better. The Wiimote aiming does make the game easier than before, but it's also a hell of a lot more fun. However, it's still annoying that there's no way to strafe, and the timed action sequences (hit a button or swing the Wiimote to dodge an enemy) are still too unforgiving, even more so because swinging the Wiimote takes more time to pull of than hitting a button. Transfomers: The Game Geekgasm: Peter Cullen voices Optimus Prime. The game itself, while not special in any particular way, is still a hell of a lot fun, especially for Transfans like yours truly. Wrecking stuff, hauling ass and transforming at will are a blast to pull off. However, the game does have some serious faults; the camera is GODDAMNED annoying: you move a crosshair around with the Wiimote and whenever you aim at the edge of the screen, the camera moves in that direction, which coupled with the gesture-based melee combat causes the camera to go everywhere you don't want it to, and the boss battles get old REAL quick what with randomly tossing stuff at the boss trying to kill him. All in all however, it's a flawed but ultimately entertaining experience. Most amazing jew boots ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Yep, I'm late, but goddamn this is a wonderful game! I've read a bit of negativity here and there, but most of it is unfounded and due to *******'s that don't want to see their precious OoT tarnished in any way. Still, OoT slightly edges out TP. Lack of extra quests to do is my biggest gripe. And even though the overworld is amazing and of incredible breadth, it's pretty empty. Dungeons rock though, except Temple of Zzz.. How many ppl here totally forgot about the Boss Key until they came to the big door and thought OMFG! BTW, is there a compass in the Temple of Time? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Tenchu Z
This game is pretty garbage but still addicting to me for some reason. The graphics look last gen and the character models don't have much variety or detail. The mouths don't even move half the time when someone is speaking. This is the 360 here. The blood spraying animations are fairly poor looking for a next gen title too. After playing the Metal Gear Solid series the AI comes off as being absolutely terrible too. Enemies rarely chase you when caught. You can basically have one draw their sword on you and watch you hide under a bucket. They'll forget you ducked under a bucket and look around the surrounding area like idiots. They'll come across a dead body of someone you killed, look around a few seconds, then put their sword away and act as if nothing happened. At this point you just stealth kill them too when their back is turned. The game offers 50 missions and 90% of them are the same throughout the whole game. You might start at a different spot in a level you just completed 4 missions ago except its night time. You might kill a guy who looks exactly like the guy you killed 2 missions ago. Despite all these flaws I can't stop playing this game. I get too much pleasure out of sneaking around on rooftops, jumping down on a unaware guy, and watching my sword slice through his back. As you get more stealth kills and make more progress you get access to new skills, items, and clothing. You completely control how your Ninja looks, which is really awesome. Mine goes from wearing glasses to wearing a fox mask. =3 This game is mega fun if you're into stealthy ninja Japanese games or the Tenchu series. It isn't worth the 60 dollar price tag though. It should have been a budget 30 dollar release. Luckily my friend was the one who was dumb enough to pay full price for it. I'm just borrowing it from him. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Unfortunately, as usual, i find myself in the middle of several things at once.
Final Fantasy XII: This took me a while to really begin to appreciate. I hated the gambit system at first, but now that i've learned how to use it effectivley, and i've started getting the super moves and Espers it feels a little more like my old favourite. There are still a few things i'd prefer changed about this game, but whaddaya gunnado? Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, as it were. I bought the first decade package, but i'm stuck on this one impossible mission in the GDI campaign. Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense: This is more or less my go to game when i'm sick of playing FF or CnC at the moment. I'm starting the Flying Allstar Trio's quest, and i have a hard time even driving that thing let alone take out multiple enemies and complete objectives with. Probably officially my least favourite car in that game. I'm putting all my games on hold though, seeing as how i'm leaving tomorrow for 75% of the summer. I'll be playing as much as i can, but i won't be finishing anything until september rolls around. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
At the moment, I'm playing a lot WoW. It's been a bit more than a year now and I just love the immersion, the freedom to chose what i do: PvP, Pve, raiding, working on my professions. Even if a lot of people say that it really become for hardcore gamers only, i think that the extension has made it pretty much open a lot of options for all kind of gamers from casual to hardcore. The equippement is available with equal quality through pve and pvp and i just find outland awesome. I also love the fact that it stays "cartoon-like" and doesn't try to make it realistic like the faces of the characters in LOTRO...
Stalker - shadow of chernobyl : Ok, so this is the big brand new FPS and i just couldn't resist to put my hands on it. I'm not realy into FPS where you have to follow the story with little choice in the point-of-view of the progression of your adventure. Here, you are given a few quests, a background and it's up to you to discover the land, to complete missions in the order you define. The first thing that hits you in the game is the ambiance, heavy and dark but without darkness. What i mean is that they don't need to place you into a tunnel infested with zombies, to turn off the light and to add demoniac sounds to frighten you (doom3)... The landscapes, the npcs, all contribute to create a feeling of insecurity. On the downside, i have to admit that i'm not such a great fan of those realistic faces full of geometrical textures. Yes, i know, i'm talking about 95% of pc new games, but that's just the way it is, it breaks my immersion when i'm facing those "real-lookalikes". Also, the npcs talk to me in russian or, how can they understand me if i speak english? Those are details compared to the hugeness of the game and the universe created and i'm sure i'll have hours of fun with Stalker, i just won't reach the level of immersion i expected. Titan Quest: I gave a new try to the immortal throne and unlike the first time, i really enjoyed it. I felt more into the story but anyway, after a few hours, i just started to lose my interest. I'm sure that after a few hours of pause, i could have been going on, but i was already busy with something else and didn't felt like coming back to Titan Quest. It has all of a good Hack-n-slash, nice graphs, nice progression, excellent gameplay so why couldn't i hook on it? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() "No one needs to know..." |
Whoa, time to seriously bump this thread.
Donkey Konga (PAL): Holy shit, this is intense. Intense and FUN. I've tried DDR before and I absolutely hate its guts, but this really rocks my world. Of course, it's still tricky to get the hang of it at first, but practice makes perfect. Challenge Mode, while very tiring, is an absolute BLAST. The song selection in the European version is okay (September is my favourite song so far), still need to check out the other versions tho. I should get a second set of bongos tho, for when one of my buddies comes visiting again. Chibi Robo: This game is adorable. Absolutely adorable. Everything from the cutesy music and sound effects, gibberish "voices", fun play mechanics and heartwarming characters are designed to do nothing less but plant a huge smile on your face. I love it. The concept behind it all (tiny robot, limited battery) is brilliantly executed. Gameplay tends to get a little repetitive at times, and you're sometimes kept a bit in the dark too much as to what to do, but nonetheless it's VERY entertaining. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer |
