I think maybe he'd find out that being a woman might not be cool with the women he's attracted to.
Like this girl I know, she insists that everyone use the masculine form of her name and she's lesbian, but her partner said that she couldn't be physically attracted to her if she went through with the FTM procedure. Which, ultimately, I think would make this girl's life more difficult in the long run, because most heterosexual females I think wouldn't deal with that and lesbians aren't attracted to men.
