Plus, my old MX900 (<3 Bluetooth, hate that Logitech has abandoned it) has a wonky left button, where it randomly (and more and more often) double clicks instead of single-clicking. Yuck. Then I'll just move the MM over to "portable duty" w/ my PowerBook.
That happened for a while with my old MS Intellimouse. I fixed it by jamming the thing on fingernail clippers that's used for cleaning under your nails underneath the mouse button. There was a little bit of dirt/dust/gunk that had worked there over a few years worth of heavy use and the button made a bit of a 'pop' sound when I did it. Started working perfectly normal afterwards. Did the same way to clean out my mousewheel that had started to stick a bit after years of use.

Right now I own the intellimouse I mentioned above (for an idea of how old it is, I bought it with the $50 Best Buy gift certificate that came with my 8x4x32 Iomega CD-RW drive that didn't have Buffer Underrun protection) which I use with my laptop and when I play games. I also own the Logitech MX700 wireless keyboard/mouse which I like a lot, although they both tend to have problems when playing games. They keyboard will just stop responding for a few seconds occasionally, and the mouse has a bad problem with not detecting MouseUp actions, so I'm stuck firing my gun even after I've let go of the button, so I'll blow through a while clip when I really don't mean to.

Was thinking about upgrading to a new wired mouse that has the ability to change DPI settings from on the mouse, but I'm just too cheap and haven't played a PC game in months. =/

There's nowhere I can't reach.

@Free.User: I've heard that UberOptions can fix that problem. I haven't tried it myself, but looking at the options dialog shows a reconfigurable middle-click and a number of comments on Neowin has confirmed it.

@Killmoms: The MX Revo looks a lot less like a gamer mouse in person than it does in screenshots. I also hear wireless mice are crap for games. From what I've seen, companies like Razor are far more guilty of style-over-substance "l33t k!dd!3z" designs (ridged buttons, WTF?). The MX Revo feels more like it was designed with office apps in mind than games, what with the fast-scroll and auto-search features.

How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah, wireless mice can't update as fast, apparently. Though, in my case, I completely suck at twich-gaming FPSes like Q3/4 and whatnot anyway, so I don't play them.

New mouse and a Wacom 6 x 11. These are the input devices I need to obtain.

Car comes first though.

I use a Logitech G7. I like using wireless mice, but hate when they die on me. Gotta put them on the cradle for an hour or two regardless of what I was in the middle of doing. So, the removable battery pack thing is pretty great for me. It doesn't have a ton of buttons or anything like that, but the DPI switch right there on the hardware is pretty cool, and works independent of the drivers. I did have a problem with the left button a couple weeks ago--it started sticking or something, and a single click would turn into two clicks. Some moderator in their forums suggested clicking it over and over as fast as you can for 10 minutes or so, and that cleared it up.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Haha, that would be the best tech support phonecall ever. Just sitting there ten minutes with an operator while you click your mouse mercilessly.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

That's my mouse. It is a Labtec wired optical mouse. Nothing fancy, just two buttons and a scroll wheel.

I have had it for about 18 months and not had any trouble with it. It was all I could afford back then, I think that it set me back £4.
I'm in the market for another mouse though, I just feel that it is time for change. I really like the look of the G5, but I'm not sure if I want to spend £45 on it.

Is it really that good?

I just grabbed the MX Revolution from Staples for $60. I've had about a week with it, and so far no complaints. UberOptions has solved all button mapping issues, and I haven't found the low DPI to be a bother. A+, would buy again.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Wait till you really get a feel for the thumb wheel. It's a little tricky at first, a lot of my "turns" registered as "clicks," but once I got used to it I mapped it to Ctrl+Tab to flip tabs in Firefox. Friggin' awesome.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
