Haha, Sword Familiar... I made a terrible fruity loops "song" back in the day using lines from the sword familiar.

"TEAR OPEN THE HEAVENS!"
"GATHER BROTHER SOUL BLADES!"
Did you release it on the internet? In that case, I might have actually heard it

It is now THE month for CV. Anyone gonna purchase this game? A read a few game magazines at work this morning. They gave this game a great review. My all-time favorite CV game's finally going to shine for once. >=]

Gamepro (i think) - 4.75 out of 5.00
EGM - 8,8,9

...and that's all I know. The cons of the game is but one complaint and that is the difficulty. That's the whole idea!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Difficulty? If this is like Contra: SS (but a bit watered down), then it's old school regardless of improved graphics.

Pre-ordered the sucker, along with other treats.

Back to the sweet cover art. I never did like it when they started using anime style drawings for the DS Castlevania games.

Anyway this looks pretty cool. I've never played either of the Castlevania's it contains (true story), will probably consume.

Castlevania (悪魔城ドラキュラ)

Didn't see a tread on the Akumajou Dracula series so I thought I'd make one. I'm really looking forward to the PSP game (out tomorrow in the US). I think a revamped version of Rondo of Blood, the original Rondo, and a re-release of the Saturn SotN is a fantastic idea and should be celebrated. After all, Castlevania is one of the best series out there. PoR wasn't great but still enjoyable, providing how solid it is.

Quote:
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is an entirely new take at the best Castlevania game to never be released in the US, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. The Dracula X Chronicles brings the beloved action/adventure franchise to the PSP system for the first time, complete with 3D graphics, enhanced gameplay and new music. Completing the Dracula X storyline, this game also includes an unlockable version of Symphony of the Night and players will also be able to unlock the original Rondo of Blood from the NEC PC Engine.

* The classic action game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood re-imagined for the PSP® system with 3D graphics, enhanced gameplay and new music
* Includes unlockable versions of the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night games, optimized for the PSP® system
* Timeless side scrolling action through more than 10 gothic stages and additional hidden areas
* Return to previously completed levels to find additional secrets
I've never played the Saturn version of SotN before, which had Maria. If this is the same, will it allow you to obtain the 211% (or something like that) which was obtainable in the Saturn version, instead of 200.6% in the PS1 version?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The game is so big ;_; alot of the worry is over the dub.

No idea about the completion fixes yet though.

Any info on exactly how the PC Engine version and SotN are unlocked? Are those something every player will be able to access or only if you beat the game at an insane difficulty setting etc.?

Maybe I'm just super anal, but the 2.5D just ruined Rondo of Blood. It's kind of hard to see what is solid ground and what isn't, or what you can grab on. Although I guess it's something that happens with 2.5D. It's kind of funny though when a monster attacks in the background and I get hit in the foreground. Same with falling objects, they crash into the background but can kill you in the foreground.

Richter kept his old jumps which is hilarious. I actually jumped off the screen and instantly died since he simply went off the screen outside of my vision. PSP and blur isn't really working nicely but it's still possible to play.

SotN is the PSX version given some touch-ups -- I guess you could call it "enhanced". This is actually good because the Saturn version was very horrible, but it had Maria so eh. If you select QUIT on the menu, you get the options "DECIDE" and "CANCEL" (although I'm just nitpicking at that). Everytime the game changes resolutions (Menus, cutscenes) the scaling does not maintain proportions (The scaling sticks with the resolution the game runs in, instead of scaling the image to 4:3, as it should be doing). You can run the game in native or scaled. There is no full stretch, so it will be bordered. It's kind of annoying that the game is constantly switching between 320x240 and 256x240 whenever these changes are happening.

Note: Maria will have to be unlocked. When you start the game there is no selection of characters period as in the Saturn version. Most likely will have to beat the game once with Alucard or something since that is how you obtain Richter as well.

Also:

Get the Flash Player to play this audio file:
I guess the entire re-translation and redubbing will probably anger some people who loved the old version. Speaking of speech, kind of funny when the text boxes don't match what the characters are saying.

Anyway. It's an alright game but could have certainly used maybe a bit more quality checking. It would still certainly be worth a buy, just don't expect it to be the ultimate version of whatever.

I just wish they didn't ask Square-Enix on how to improperly code a game. Stuttering emulation is obviously a good way to enjoy a game.

Summary: It's okay, some vision issues with blur, the redub is lol. SE style slowdown once in a while on original Rondo. Still worth a purchase. Careful if you play as Maria, you can crash the game with her from overloading the screen with junk and causing slowdown so massive it just locks up.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

HimeyaShop was the only one that had the LE with OST, but they were out pretty fast and I personally don't like Himeya much...it's really quite silly to have 5 different limited edition for just one game

That thread was really based on one game so whatever. Not my fault you find it too difficult to look through a lousy search engine.

How about you stop being a fucking カント and start realizing that a 悪魔城ドラキュラ スレ doesn't equal a 悪魔城ドラキュラ game-specific スレ, nor does it equal "failing a search" for this スレ. I don't recommend visiting the Guilty Gear スレ, ever, beacuse yo might begin to wonder which game it is for.

GG? wtf..? Yea dont worry. I played it and the rehashes aren't that bad. But back to the whining baby that is Elixir.

You need to just sit back and shut up, champ. That exact post you made was based on Rondo of BLood itself lol. How bout you stop being a bitch and stop getting caught in your own trap. Don't be mad, Tito.

I don't care to carry this on. I'm going to do the only mature thing you'll ever be witness in an argument and move on. Hopefully no shit posting will follow. Now's your chance! Strike swiftly and shut the fuck up for super damage.

Regarding the game itself, Symphony of the Night has an issue where you can easily walk into Death's room and walk right out. I remember there being some old trick where you got hit by a warg or something and it made you fly past death. This means he doesn't steal your items, and your Alucard set is with you for the entire normal castle (and inverted). Apparently it's completely random when it happens, but Death randomly just DOESN'T APPEAR sometimes.

Oh. I've noticed that it's possible to leave boss fight rooms by mashing the triangle button while the game is attempting to load the boss room. I don't see any immediate practical use for this at all.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So how many times are you going to edit your post? lol. A pm is sent to you anyway, Tito. Now to stray away from the peanut gallery!

@lacerta : so you already played most of it...You are a trooper. I don't see the dub as worst as what the original though.. But i do notice it has that blurry shit. Any difference when it's played on the big screen? (via pspslim)
