I had trouble picking a clear winner from this batch.

2 Points - IRIDION 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Iridion II - See The Sun Burn
Not usually the type of song I go for, but this one seems pretty well done. If it was a little less repetitive, I would have given it 3 points

2 Points - Super Star Soldier (game rip) - Stage 1
Invoked a very nostalgic feel, for some reason. Not as good as it could have been, I think, but I liked the melody.

1 Point - Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie (Game Rip) - The T-Rex Cometh
I didn't have high expectations for this one (probably because of my utter hatred for the movie), but it surprised me. A very tense song, although I think the strings should have been more accentuated.

1 Point - Snatcher Policenauts Music Compilation of Hideo Kojima - Black Disc - 'Policenauts' End Title
I really didn't like this song on the first listen. After several attempts, however, I can respect, if not really enjoy it.

Nomination:
* Composers: Masakazu Sugimori, Akemi Kimura, Noriyuki Iwadare
* Arrangers: Noriyuki Iwadare, Naoto Tanaka, Kaori Komuro
* Album: Gyakuten Saiban Orchestra Album ~Gyakuten Meets Orchestra~
* Track Title: Gyakuten Saiban 3 - Courtroom Suite
* Disc Number: 1 (of 1)
* Track Number: 09
* Catalog Number: CPCA-10178
* Year: 2006
* Source(s): rpgfan.com/soundtracks/gyakuten-oa/index.html

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Another forgettable week. For some unknown reason, I had trouble distributing points.

(2 points) IRIDION 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Iridion II - See The Sun Burn
(2 points) Super Star Soldier (Game Rip) - Stage 1
(1 point) Metal Slug ~Complete Sound BOX~ - Cliff and Cave (Mission 1-2)
(1 point) Pac-Man World 2 (Game Rip) - Pinky's Revenge

This was no contest this week. Iridion hooked me from the opener and then keeps it up all the way through. Not too bad a week on the whole.

(3 points) IRIDION 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Iridion II - See The Sun Burn
(1 point) Metal Slug ~Complete Sound BOX~ - Cliff and Cave (Mission 1-2)
(1 point) Super Star Soldier (Game Rip) - Stage 1
(1 point) Snatcher Policenauts Music Compilation of Hideo Kojima - Black Disc - 'Policenauts' End Title

Okay, That Second Minute Does Make A Difference: Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie (Game Rip) - The T-Rex Cometh

Decent, And Yet Sort Of Bleh: Dark Reign The Future of War (Red Book Audio) - Track 6

Sure It Works In The Context Of The Game, But All That Distortion Just Makes Me Angry Here: Pac-Man World 2 (Game Rip) - Pinky's Revenge

Didn't Stand A Chance: Saturday Night Slam Masters (SNES Game Rip) - Contagion (King Rasta Mon)

Though who knows if there's something coming after this. My worth "obscure" nominations will probably run out quick.

Title: Water Ruins
Track Number: 3
Album: Jet Force Gemini (Game Rip)
Composer: Robin Beanland, Graeme Noergate
Year: 1999

Note: There may have been an OSV release of this soundtrack, but I can't find it on GMR Online or Chudah's. I have this Gamerip, and I also have a 64th Note USF rip. The track name for that is called Mines. It would have to be converted to MP3.

Double Note: There's an embarassing selection of great tracks from JFG. I may nominate another one in the future if this gets undeservedly pummeled.

Triple Note: Where do we upload to?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nomination:

Title: Alex & Ken Stage ~ Jazzy NYC 99'
Track Number: 5
Album: Street Fighter: 3rd Strike "Fight For The Future" Original Sound Track
Composer: Hideki Okugawa
Year: 1999

Source: http://www.gmronline.com/info.asp?CatNumber=MCM-10104-2

I'll have votes once I'm done listening to all the availables for this week.

Edit: K, vote time

(3 Points) - Super Star Solider (Game Rip) - Stage 1
(2 Points) - Metal Slug ~Complete Sound BOX~ - Cliff and Cave (Mission 1-2)
(1 Point1) - IRIDION 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Iridion II - See The Sun Burn

I felt sorry for Contagion, yet resisted the temptation of voting for it. I thought the only thing worthy of first place here was the one song that's actually active, instead of mellow throughout - though perhaps my definition of 'mellow' is a tad skewed.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm rather sure there wasn't an album release of the JFG soundtrack. Not even promotionally.

Argh. Post got deleted. Anyway...

I recently found this "Master of Monsters" Genesis game for a buck at a local thrift store, and it has awesome music (blogged about it here). Surprisingly, there was an official soundtrack release with the 9 original songs as well as arranged versions of all of them.

So, my next nom will be one of the arrangements. It's a tough decision, but I'm tentatively gonna go with...

Album: Master of Monsters
Track: Yellow Robe
Composer: Hayato Matsuo
Track #: 6
Year: 1991
Catalog #: TOCT-6268
Source: http://gmronline.com/info.asp?CatNumber=TOCT-6268, Hitoshi Sakimoto discography, Mobygames
Notes: Hitoshi Sakimoto is credited for arrangement in the original game. Not sure if he did the arranged versions on the OST, though. Also, Koichi Sugiyama is credited as Sound Producer for the original game.

How ya doing, buddy?
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Not a bad week with a couple of clear standouts for me.

(2 points) Metal Slug ~Complete Sound BOX~ - Cliff and Cave (Mission 1-2)
Rather tight package that delivers. It almost sounds like an RPG tune but with more punch than usual due to the percusison line. Nice instrumentation choice, too.

(2 points) IRIDION 3D & II Arranged Soundtrack Perfect Selection - Iridion II - See The Sun Burn
Really like the synth. And the general feel of the song.

(1 point) Pac-Man World 2 (Game Rip) - Pinky's Revenge
Nice orchestration and melody. Could have even better but it's still a satisfying listen.

(1 point) Super Star Soldier (Game Rip) - Stage 1
This one kind of surprised me. Very catchy and moves rather well.

Snatcher was very close to getting a point.

Erhmm... in the nominations queue puts this:
Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (Game Rip) <Damjan Mravunac> - Continuous

And it is incorrect. Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is not Serious Sam 2, they're two different games, and my nomination comes from the latter game, Serious Sam 2. So this would be the correct thing:

Serious Sam 2 (Game Rip) <Damjan Mravunac> - Continuous

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
