Well I haven't played ANY of them. But I've seen a few videos of Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner on youtube, and they look like my sort of thing. And besides, it has VIC VIPER in it, so I'm beginning to wonder why I haven't discovered this game earlier.
I've heard (from reviews, websites in general, and so on) that the original title wasn't the greatest, but the sequel was much better. The PAL version of ZoE2 is selling for INSANE prices ($140 US?) over here so I'm considering ebaying the american version for a much more sane price. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Er, as much as I liked ZOE2, it was a very short game and it most certainly wasn't any sort of epic masterpiece. I beat it the first time I sat down to play it, I think it took me 6 hours or so. I mean, I bought it full price and I didn't regret it, as it was an easy game to sit down and replay when I was bored; but I dunno if I'd pay $50 for a pre-played copy of the game.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Elixir, ZOE2 is very much worth the money. It is a fairly rare game to find. More importantly, it's extremely fun. A mech game with a decent targeting system and quality camera controls, pretty graphics, decent audio. Even though it's pretty short, you'll replay it at least twice to unlock everything, and it's easy to pick up and play again if you get bored, which is always a plus.
It's got a cool versus mode, and it's got a 3D version of Gradius (?) as well, featuring Vic Viper from ZOE2. Even the Konami code makes an appearance. You can also participate in a bunch of side missions similar to the VR missions in MGS:VR. How ya doing, buddy? Before getting too excited you might want to wait for an actual developer comment or confirmation given the source of the news. I mean if ZOE3 is indeed development then where was the announcement at TGS?
There were rumblings about Kojima announcing a new title at TGS that turned out to be nothing special really but it's possible PSM expected this to be ZOE3 and ran with it. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]()

Ooof. PS3 has already been stamped with a "SOLD" sticker in my mind. This only enforces that ;D Shit, can't believe I still don't own ZOE2. Totally gonna buy it soon. Only played through it once (rented), but CHRIST is it a good game.
Simo -- Scan of the page says that next month they will have information from Kojima about this. It's confirmed, unless they're slapping folks with a bold-faced lie. Which would be quite bad for a magazine to do... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

These guys also received a PS3 just after this magazine scan made it's way onto the web, so it looks like they're doing a hands-on with the console for the next issue as well. This is pretty much confirmed, from the looks of it.

Man, why the hell am I just now seeing this thread?
This is the first game I've seen for the PS3 that makes me want to buy the system, so even though I'm still not getting it at launch, whenever I do get one this will be the first game I get. Hell, I was gonna wait for a price drop before I got one (which I know could take years), but this just might change that. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
I enjoyed the first ZOE, however it was way too short and didn't really feel like it tapped into its potential. I haven't played the second one but I want to. I guess a third one is good news, not a system seller in my mind. Maybe something to keep in mind whenever I eventually get a PS3.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |

ZoE2 runs rings around the original, in every way possible. Some of the fights/missions are just jaw dropping. Taking part an entire battlefleet by yourself and then later on somewhere around 500 enemies at once is incredible. Oh and the Vector Cannon. Hell, its worth buying for the Vector Cannon alone. This hurts me too, because I told myself I wasn't going to get a PS3 unless ZoE3 was being released on it. DAMN YOU KOJIMA. But seriously Elixir, it is so very very worth it. Its hard to find and I'm not sure when we'll see the reissue out here, I bought it on release and lost my copy and lucked out at Gamestop when I found a copy second hand, but you should most definately grab it if you get a chance. Try the store over in Footscray if you live in Victoria, they carry a lot of rare stuff there. I just checked Ebay, but theres no ZoE2 on there atm in Aus. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
^ Speaking of the Vector Cannon, I almost ALWAYS use the right analog stick to view the charging up process whenever it's deployed. When I replay the 2nd time, I'll select the option to equip all subweapons including the VC just so at the end, I can use the VC to deliver the final blow to you know who.
I hope it's included in ZoE 3 ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |

Oh yeah I did the same thing. I'd pan the camera all the way around Jehuty when he's charging the Vector Cannon. It's awesome to watch.
Did you guys ever make use of the Yes/No options for Dingo's responses to ADA's recommendations for battle? For example, when she's constantly suggesting using Gauntlet as a weapon, if you tell her "No" often enough, she'll stop making recommendations, or if you say "Yes" she'll switch them automatically. Also, doing that's the only way to earn an EX File key in Margaritifer -- when ADA tells you have 90 seconds to defeat the enemies, you have to use the "Yes" option to get Dingo to say he can do it. I never understood Zone of the Enders.
Well then again, I got stuck on the first. Something about taking the sniper rifle to shoot and disable some force field mechanism/building/apparatus? FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE. Never was able to find where to shoot the fucking thing. Never bothered to go back after popping my MGS2 demo disc in. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
PRESS YES :-D
I think it involved using the D-pad, a la Ace Wombat. Dude, I NEVER used any of the weapons in ZOE ('cept Vector Cannon). They struck me as weak, typically... (lol struck enemies weak more leik) What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

Next to the Vector Cannon, I think the Halberd was my favorite subweapon.

I always remembered the homing missiles saving my life...especially in the air fleet battle. And ohh did it look pretty blowing everything up! Too bad that each round of missiles took up about half of your metatron/sub weapon energy...

That was probably the easiest thing to do in any game. You shoot the little lights with a sniper rifle. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Also, in ZoE2, you don't worry about wussy stuff like a sniper rifle, you use a massive cannon of destruction that shreds anything infront of it to pieces.....or atoms....or something really small thats not there anymore. Rocks, enemies, walls, doors, glaciers, battleships etc etc. Oh god I love using it on the level where you fight the hundreds of enemy mechs, then proceed to drag it across the screen and see a massive V shape of dots disappear off the radar. I was speaking idiomatically. |
This won't make me buy a PS3 but damn, ZoE2 is VERY awesome. I rented it earlier tonight.
I especially like the controls in this game. I can't believe I've gone 3 years since this game's release without knowing about it at all. ;_; What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
As expected the latest issue of PSM has absolutely nothing inside about ZOE3despite the cover claiming they played it:
![]() Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Not exactly good news. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |
It's becoming more and more difficult to determine if PSM made the story up, since there is little to no info about it outside of the PSM source, and that I reacted completely falsely to this whole thing. Perhaps it's on the front cover to cover their ass for shoddy journalism, and just buy them time until it's either announced more concretely or until people forget about it so they can drop this issue.
I'm now extremely pissed. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
So according to PSM3's blog:
