Very good week. There is plenty to choose from, whatever kind of music you like. I'm so tired of studying... blah no excuse anymore, gonna make some comments.

Anarchy Online Original Soundtrack Vol 02 - Shadowland Battle Music (Remix): This sounds like a remix, indeed. It's clearly electronica-oriented and quite calm for battle music. The electronic elements are standard, pretty generic. Nevertheless, the piano and the humming make the difference, just a bit more of these and...

Bakumatsu Roman The Second Act Gekka no Kenshi ~Flowers Blooming on the Moon, Flowers Scattering on the Wind~ Arrange Sound Trax - First Movement "Swordsman of Gekka ~ Decision at Daybreak" (Theme 1): I'm quite partial to symphonic stuff and I don't find the instrumentation quality (in this track) to be unworthy. This one begins in a melodramatic tone, but the later development is original and leads to new interesting ideas. A true stand-out track.

Drag-on Dragoon Original Soundtrack Vol. 2 - Twelfth Chapter Sky: In some places, it reminds me of the crazy atmospheric tracks in the Silent Hill series. Distorted and mechanical sounds aren't among my musical tastes, but I can recognize the objective quality of it, although for one reason or another doen't appeal to me personally.

Dreamfall : The Longest Journey Original Soundtrack - The Hospital Room: This one reminds of a possible nomination of mine in the future. Well, I'd prefer a bit more focus on the instrumental side, but the xylophones, harps and flutes make a good job. The credit here is for the vocal performance which is stunning, ethereal and the rest synonyms.

KUKEIHA CLUB pro-fusion ~TOKIMEKI MEMORIAL~ - The Ambition of Cultman: Time to explain my own nomination. Evidently, this track doesn't distinguish itself by an easy melody line and yet less for its transparent structure. I nominated it for the great group performance. I love the awesome drum work, above all in the beginning. The section jumps are rough, but for a good reason, to catch unaware to the listener. In reality, everything in this track is for that, to surprise.

Rainbows - Chris Hülsbeck Volume 3 - Giana Sisters (Theme): It looks to me strangely familiar and I don't know why. It's not very different of the others Hülsbeck's compositions: a hint of classical progressions here, whimsical accompaniment there. Good but not even near the top stuff from this guy.

Rogue Galaxy Premium Arrange - THE LABYRINTH: THIS IS AWESOME. Seriously, this is an amazing track. Wonderful use of the instrumentation, exquisite development. Original and creative compositions like this one should get the worthy attention they deserve.

Tengai Makyou ~ The Apocalypse IV - Original Soundtrack - The Twelve Apostles Battle: Well, the average track of the week. I'm sorry but it sounds so unpolished and clunky that I feel bad for it. In this case, to say forgettable is almost like a compliment.

Point Distribution:
(3 points) The Ambition of Cultman
(2 points) THE LABYRINTH
(1 point) First Movement "Swordsman of Gekka ~ Decision at Daybreak"

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THE LABYRINTH CAME IN 7TH PLACE.

But a good song won, and that's all that matters. The Giana Sisters coming in 3rd is a blemish to the almost perfect Huelsbeck record here (Hey it was perfect in my book), but seriously, there was many songs that just needed the win more than that. Giana Sisters is a bit dated.

and twelth chapter sky is awesome i gave it 3 points

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh, shit, I missed voting. Sorry guys, I was drained all week from long hours at work and have had a busy weekend. I'm glad to see that the reactions to 12th Chapter were either love it or hate it. A tepid response would of been the worst thing. My point spread would of been:

2 points - Drag-on Dragoon Original Soundtrack Vol. 2 - Twelfth Chapter Sky
2 points - Anarchy Online Original Soundtrack Vol 02 - Shadowland Battle Music (Remix)
2 points - Rainbows - Chris Hlsbeck Volume 3 - Giana Sisters (Theme)

(Sorry, Crash, looks like I cost you silver.)

No, no. It's totally cool. The track placed. What complaints could I legitimately have? There's really little functional seperation between Silver and Bronze in SotW, anyhow.

I was worried there might be a bit of Huelsbeck saturation in SotW, but I chose to risk it anyhow, as Giana Sisters is a track that I personally love. I believe it's the most played song on my iPod. It's about getting good music more exposure and I did just that.

No complaints. Congrats to the nominators of "Shadowlands Battle Music" and "Hospital Room".

(And I thought "Twelve Apostles Battle" deserved more than the one point I gave it. )

Good results. Unfortunately, I didn't like Hospital Room all that much. I've heard better wordless vocals on other games. In fact, I'm going to nominate one of my picks in a few weeks to come.

And Twelfth Chapter Sky was my best discovery this week.

I figure I'll get my comments in, even though I'm too late. Pretty "bleh" week, as far as I'm concerned.

Shadowlands Battle Music (remix) - Decent ambient piece. Best at the end. Not really my thing, though.
First Movement - This was ok. Nothing ear-catching about it.
Twelfth Sky - This song is good...if you're looking for a song to torture someone with. I can't imagine listening to this for pleasure.
Hospital Room - I enjoy this type of vocals in vgm; the human voice is one of the most emotional-sounding instruments there is. So, I have no automatic problem with this track, like some people. It's pretty nice. Feels a bit short, though; I wish it were longer. :-/
Cultman - Solid, but I felt it was a, "Do a lot of stuff decently," track, as opposed to a, "Do a few things really well" track. Too much repetition of parts in some places.
Giana Sisters Theme - Neat piece, though not Hulsbeck's best.
The Labyrinth - Interesting. Does a good job of creating an unsure mood.
Twelve Apostles Battle - Starts off promising. As orion said, the electric guitar in the background is unfortunately way too low to have much of an impact. That's too bad, cause I think it would have been a cool song.

My point spread would have been:

3 pts. - Hospital Room
1 pt. - Cultman
1 pt. - Giana Sisters Theme
1 pt. - Apostles

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more
