Best week I've had with SotW so far. Let's see now.

3rd GIG #Crescent - In Search of the Holy Sword -Seiken Densetsu-
Wow. An awesome, rocking track to start off things. Great guitarwork and those subtle vocals spice things up nicely. I guess it's safe to say that this track would appeal to a lot of people and is going to be this week's winner.

Anno 1602 (Game Rip) - Dreamer
Nice march music type of track, though average and nothing really that grabs my attention.

Blaster Master Original Sound Tracks - Rush Boy -Theme from Roddy-
Another rocking track. I do appreciate the awesome riffing, but this speed metal type isn't really my thing.

FireFly Studios' Stronghold (PC Game Rip) - Under An Old Tree
I like medieval flair this track imbues, with the acoustic guitars and flutes. And the part at 2:17-3:11 is just beautiful. Definitely a new favorite of mine.

Loaded (Red Book Audio) - Track 6
Groovy synth action, creating a somber, yet very pleasing atmosphere for me. Sounds like something I would have on loop for a while, especially when I'm not in very jovial mood.

Lost Technology ~ Thunder Force Sound Track - Cyber Cave
Great shmups music here (you can say that I'm a fan), though this one does sound a little too dramatic at certain points. Still a really good listen.

Riviera ~The Promised Land~ Full Arrange Soundtrack - The Angels Foretell Their Demise
A truly kickass track. Also sounds like something Naruke would compose. My only gripe is its short length and sounding like half a track.

Zero Wing (Sega Genesis Game Rip) - New Day for Me (Stage 2: Legrous)
Genesis chiptunage at its best! Im addition to the game's wacky translation, the soundtrack was quite catchy. This track in particular stuck with me over the years, and it's just plain can of awesome from beginning to end. I'm giving it extra points for being the only, not to add exceptional, chiptune this week and for being my (first) nomination.

Points spread:

(3 points) Zero Wing (Sega Genesis Game Rip) - New Day for Me (Stage 2: Legrous)
(1 point) 3rd GIG #Crescent - In Search of the Holy Sword -Seiken Densetsu-
(1 point) FireFly Studios' Stronghold (PC Game Rip) - Under An Old Tree
(1 point) Loaded (Red Book Audio) - Track 6

1 point: Track 6
2 points: Dreamer
3 points: Under An Old Tree

I actually think this isn't nearly as strong a week as the previous one, but I quite like these three tracks (one of them being my own nomination). Dreamer is an especially nice surprise.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ok, so I want to nominate a song, but I can't find the Game Rip, I just know the song because I actually own the game. I know a game rip exists somewhere though, as another song from this game has been nominated before.

Here is what I know/am guessing:
Artist: Tim Follin
Game Title: Solstice (NES, game rip)
Song Title/number/etc.: The in-game music, not sure what the game rip may call it though. If someone can point me to a rip of this game, I can verify the track and clean up this nomination.

You should get NotSoFatso to be able to play the NSFE emulated audio format, snag the Solstice NSFE, and tell me which track it is. I think you're after track 2.

Crash could probably confirm this one too.

Sorry, Manny (apologies for getting you worked up over uploading your nomination) and ikkei, but in a twist of fate, I think your nominations will be delayed until Week 69. I just saw a new nomination over at Chudah's. CHz, hope I didn't bungle on this. :P

And two Funcom games in the same week isn't funny. "The Hospital Room" is gorgeous.

Ah, thanks CHz. The one I'm after is labeled as "Main Theme" in that file. I don't see actual track numbers appearing on the plugin though.

Track 2 (Main Theme) on the NSFE is definitely the in-game music heard as the player moves Shadax about the labrynth.

On a related note, I nominated Track 6 (Title) during Week 56, the "Tim Follin Tribute Week". It placed a respectable 4th, missing 1st place by only a few points. It was a very tight race.

Yeah, definitely a good selection of tracks this week. Props to all the nominators.

In Search of the Holy Sword -Seiken Densetsu- is a pretty awesome track. Mintjam doesn't disappoint with this awesome rockin' tune.

Dreamer is decent pretty track. I like how the melody changes from somber to more upbeat and heroic. I enjoyed it.

Rush Boy -Theme from Roddy- is cool stuff. The melody is really addictive and enjoyable. A fun track, but not totally amazing. As Dr. Uzuki nicely put it, "It entertains but doesn't floor."

Under An Old Tree is definitely my favorite nomination of this week. It starts off a little slow, but I love what it develops into. I dig that lax, controlled atmosphere that it evokes. Sounds like it'd make an excellent forest theme in an RPG.

Track 6 has a fairly simple and addictive melody, which I enjoy a lot. Sounds like it could be a theme for a factory, or something. I want to say it's industrial-esque too, but I don't know if that's a proper label for the track. :x Quality stuff, in any case.

Cyber Cave is also made of quality, but there's something about it which makes it unmemorable. Of all the tracks this week, I have the most trouble with remembering this one. Not bad at all, but I just find it underwhelming in comparison to this week's other offerings.

The Angels Foretell Their Demise is a great track, albeit a little on the short side. Were it more developed, I think it'd unquestionably be one of the strongest tracks this week! I still love it though; sometimes short and sweet really works well, and this track is proof of that.

Whoa, what happen? I wasn't expecting much out of New Day for Me (Stage 2: Legrous) at all (guess I assumed that the music would be as bad as the translation ), but it ended up being a pretty fun track to listen to. Solid stuff.

3 Points ~ FireFly Studios' Stronghold (PC Game Rip) - Under An Old Tree
1 Point ~ 3rd GIG #Crescent - In Search of the Holy Sword -Seiken Densetsu-
1 Point ~ Loaded (Red Book Audio) - Track 6
1 Point ~ Riviera ~The Promised Land~ Full Arrange Soundtrack - The Angels Foretell Their Demise

My access is still on the fritz; I have to get online from the campus library. Hopefully a solution is looming; I'll try to jump in and get next week's voting thread up between classes.

3rd GIG #Crescent - In Search of the Holy Sword -Seiken Densetsu- Not bad in terms of the genre--over-the-top guitar power ballads. There's some noodling in the second half that I really don't like (surprise, surprise) but the first half is pretty solid.

Anno 1602 (Game Rip) - Dreamer The synth could be a little better here, but the tune becomes more complex and satisfying as it progresses. It's got a nice downbeat sound that's also a little militaristic.

Blaster Master Original Sound Tracks - Rush Boy -Theme from Roddy- Wasn't Blaster Master on the NES? I take it this is an arranged version, then, or perhaps something from the PS1 sequel. In terms of synthy, up-tempo guitar action, this tune's got a lot going for it it: a solid melody, very little horrible noodling.

FireFly Studios' Stronghold (PC Game Rip) - Under An Old Tree Definitely a medival-style tune, as befits a game like Stronghold. It's a pleasant tune, rather ambient and a bit dull at times, but very authentic to the period and listenable.

Loaded (Red Book Audio) - Track 6 Definitely a techno vibe from this track. It's the nicekind of techno that I can wrap my eardums around--not really funk, but still a light touch in addition to the darker bits like the deep male chorus. A little long, but I dug it.

Lost Technology ~ Thunder Force Sound Track - Cyber Cave In keeping with the techno theme of the last track, this tune has a bit more melody and variation, but worse synth. It's a little repetitive, but I found myself liking it as well.

Riviera ~The Promised Land~ Full Arrange Soundtrack - The Angels Foretell Their Demise I get a vaguely Mega-Man-esque vibe from this track--it could be the synthy bits. It also reminds me a bit of the better Ys track in the BSC. In any event, the track's plenty enjoyable.

Zero Wing (Sega Genesis Game Rip) - New Day for Me (Stage 2: Legrous) I'm utterly surprised at the lack of "all your base" jokes. The tune itself is pretty vanilla chiptuneage, and doesn't rock my socks.

The Point Spread
Riviera - 2 pts.
Lost Technology - 1 pt.
Dreamer - 1 pt.
Loaded - 1 pt.
Under an Old Tree - 1 pt.

Nomination
Composer: Hiroki Kikuta
Album: Lost Files
Song: Mysterious Story of the Island of Souls Part 4
Track: 14

The latter. Even though the PS1 sequel is called "Blaster Master: Blasting Again," its soundtrack release was just "Blaster Master Original Sound Tracks."

Wait! I want to get my votes in before it's closed.

Then, I'll get the songs for this week ready. I was busy all yesterday.

EDIT:

2 pts. - New Day For Me - My favorite song this week. I like the drum fill used at 1:28. I think the song should have just looped once instead of twice.
2 pts. - Cyber Cave
1 pt. - Dreamer
1 pt. - The Angels Fortell Their Demise

Jam it back in, in the dark.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Only 2 points for Rush Boy? Shame.

I didn't vote, because although this week was good, I just didn't feel any of it. If I did, guess what, it wouldn't've changed anything. It would've been

3 points: Cyber Cave
2 points: Rush Boy
1 point: Stage 2 theme

Eh. I must be one of the extremely few who prefer last week, at any case.

plus I hate predictable results

Solstice (Game Rip) <Tim Follin> - [2] Main Theme

And 4th place for my nomination, not bad for a first try.
