There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I would just like to add to this conversation my sagely wisdom and knowledge:
They need to make more of this series as much as we need another Dragonball series. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

It's funny, I was ready to make a journal entry or something to comment on the current state of Inu Yasha. Honestly, I've pretty much given up on the show at this point. It has become the prime example of a series that started off strongly, then became bogged down with filler upon filler to the point of tedium (refrain from any Naruto comments, since I've only been watching the episodes from Toonami).
I haven't read any of the manga, so I'm not sure which parts are filler and which aren't, but that's irrelavent, because the entire series has become one big circle. I honestly can't believe how they've recycled the same plots over and over. Naraku increases his power, forms a powerful barrier (funny how it's ALWAYS a barrier. The term "barrier" is repeated almost as many times as the characters' names), Inu Yasha travels around to strengthen his sword, he manages to break Naraku's barrier and almost kills him, the bastard runs away and hides somewhere, gets his strength back, gets stronger, rinse and repeat. The non-Naraku parts are even worse. The stories involving other one-note villains are so bland and uininteresting it's almost too embarrasing to watch. No matter what language you're watching it with, there's no way you can take a name like "Nagi-nata of Tenkkon" (sp) seriously, especially when it's repeated ad nasuem. God, they even make filler that takes place after the filler. It's gotten so bad it's almost the equivalent of "filler bad guy's second cousin gets revenge". All this filler, and it has done absolutely nothing to add to the characters. Even Sango, who I really liked for her tragic backstory and cool design, has become a complete bore, along with Miroku. In fact, all those two do even more is repeat whatever Inu Yasha or Kagome say. Kagome: "The Tetsaiga had no effect!" Miroku: "It couldn't pierce the barrier!?" Sango: "The sword isn't strong enough!" Shippo: "Oh no!" The worst offender though is Sesshomeru. To hell with any of his fans, the man is the most boring character in the show, and that's very unfortunate. He certainly has the look and power, but he is never, ever challenged. You would think a fight between him and Naraku would be cool, but it always resorts to a match over which asshole is more pompous. Naraku, who is supposedly the greatest threat in the series, can never do any damage to Sessho, but never gets worried for a second. While Sessho, who is supposedly a badass, always stands around looking so bored he might fall asleep while standing. He never reacts to a single thing, even if Naraku has him in a trap or if some girl comes by and outright claims her love for him. Not showing any emotion whatsoever doesn't make you a badass, it makes you boring. And he still hasn't had a proper rematch with Inuyasha (the only guy who actually gave him a tough time), and he probably never will. I'm hoping at least that third movie will deliver on one of the two things lacking in anything involving Sesshomeru. I honestly thought during last night's episode that maybe, JUST MAYBE, with Inu Yasha's cool new attack, he would finally kill Naraku, and the series could focus on some other villain for a change (that white haired kid would be an interesting replacement). But no, once again Naraku escapes no matter how many chunks he's in, and the whole goddamn dance has started all over again. Christ, to hell with this show. At least in Dragon Ball Z the characters actually aged. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
