I propose having a themed sub-contest alongside each Battle. That way we get something new to listen to for that week, and there's sufficient time for people to dig up nominations.

I like that idea very much, and I guess there are enough 'theme' ideas to have one every 8 weeks, without exhausting all good options too quickly. It could always not go ahead in a particular week if no one had a good theme idea, of course; as long as enthusiasm for it doesn't wane.

How ya doing, buddy?

I'm ok for a themed week as and when someone has an idea for one and a sizeable number of people are ok with (at least three supporters?). But spacing them at least a month apart would be my preference so that it helps change things up a bit. Unless the themed week coincides with something so major you can't time it any other way.

As for Ho Ho Ho week, I'm all for it! I'm thinking it would make the most sense to have it during the Christmas week of Dec 20, unless a lot of people are going to be away then?

How ya doing, buddy?

I endorse Crash's idea and that of another 1-minute contest after the next Battle wholeheartedly. Let's hammer out which week, roughly, each will be so people will have plenty of notice. How cool would it be to have Week 200 be a theme week?

I wasn't too sure about giving biohazard 3 points or giving the last one to wurm, but as I can copy paste the results from chuckster...
(2 points) Chaos World - Ares' Theme
(2 points) Biohazard -Code: Veronica- Complete Version Original Soundtrack - A Moment of Relief (Save Room Theme)
(1 point) 7 / 11 - In Front Of Doc's
(1 point) Wurm: Journey to the Center of the Earth (Game Rip) - Title

3 points: Socket (Game Rip) - Stone Age
1 point: 7 / 11 - In Front Of Doc's
1 point: Other Life Azure Dreams Original Game Soundtrack - THEME of FUR GOTS
1 point: SimCity 2000 (PSX Game Rip) - Virtual Village

Doing a theme week once every cycle would be pretty rad. That works out to be once every two months or so. The week containing Christmas will be Week 195, so we can do a Christmas themed one then, although that'll delay One Minute of Heaven II: One Minute HARDER, unless we sneak it in in the next couple of weeks and do two theme weeks in one batch (not something I am opposed to).

One theme week alongside each battle week sounds good to me.

Ares' Theme - 3 pts. - I always enjoy punchy chiptunes like this; love the sound of the drums. This was the clear standout this week.
A Moment of Relief - 2 pts. - Gets points simply for being nice to listen to.
Stone Age - 1 pt. - Solid.

Title was decent but not good enough for points. In Front of Doc's was close; it certainly set up the atmosphere well. Didn't care for FUR GOTS at all, and Virtual Village sounded like a generic throwaway track. I like Stephen Rippy a lot, but Just Ad Nauseam did nothing for me.

Was hoping for some crazy good short melodies. Didn't get that, but it was still an interesting experiment.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Maybe theme weeks aren't my forte.

Nice results though, particularly the gold and silver. To be honest, I'm surprised there's a 4 point gap between them, I thought it'd be much closer!

I couldn't vote at all the last couple of days, but if I did, it would look something like this:

2 points: Just Ad Nauseum
1 point: A Moment of Relief (Save Room Theme)
1 point: Ares' Theme
1 point: THEME of FUR GOTS
1 point: Stone Age
Just Missed: In Front of Doc's

I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT RIPPY

Great, great week. Ares' Theme was the good kind of superficial, and probably my favorite chiptune this week, so I'm not upset at all to see it winning. Wurm Title theme, take notes.

Theme weeks during each battle sounds like a great idea, not so much a theme week on week 200. Unless the theme week involves tunes that directly relate to the number 200, count me as against that idea.

Spoiler:
In Front of Doc's is rather lethargic, like A FAT MAN ooolololloololllolololololol

Spoiler:
I KNEW IT IN MY HEART ALL ALONG
