I saw those today, hadn't had the chance to post them. However it's important to note that those releases are US ONLY! Europe is apparently getting them in a different order. According to GAFers the Europe store update today is dropping these tracks:

Matoya's Cave (FF FMS)
Battle 1 (FFIII BMS)
The Final Battle (FFV BMS)
The Archylte Steppe (FFXIII FMS)

Man, I can't do well in any of these Ultimate Scores at all.

Four Fiends is RIDICULOUS.

I realize it's probably the hardest one, but damn am I inadequate at it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

So, just chiming in to say that I've got this coming in Tuesday (or before, gotta love amazon's random shipping.) one question: is Dancing Mad the entire 20 minutes?

Because that's awesome.

It's mostly the final section, sadly. I was hoping it would be the full song too.

I've been going through some of the Ultimates, and for the most part it seems like field songs are doable, event songs are iffy, and battle songs can go straight to hell.

The ordering of the list is a little odd as "The Final Battle" from FFV is in the mix of the top 5, but those are indeed the new songs as far as I'm aware.

Well, this was apparently a serendipitous purchase, seeing as I'm without the use of my left hand for controller/system holding purposes for the time being. All right hand gameplay means I can actually play something besides Fortune Street until I'm better, and the 3ds totally fits on my not-gay-at-all pink heart pillow I'm using to keep my left arm raised as it heals.

My stylus is totally moogled. I'm enjoying what I've done so far, but I need to work on the timing of the slide triggers. Any pointers besides going faster?

Additional Spam:
Only disappointment so far is a lack of localization in the EMS vids, considering that only two of the games weren't released over here in a fashion fitting the original system's graphical capabilities.

New question: is my proclivity for evenly leveling characters fucking me in the Dark Note department? It was a bit jarring trying to do a few before I had finished the basics in Series, and if having a low level party helps you grind, should I stop using some of them or save unlockables for that purpose?

You need a certain level of dark notes to be able to even unlock certain coloured crystals....so no, not really.

If you're having trouble with them, bring the average level down slowly. If you can't beat a higher level one as a group of level 1s, run a 50, 25, and two 1s to get a level 20 dark note, and then maybe that can be used with four other level 1s to get some low level notes to grind?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Working on getting Total Criticals on all songs and difficulties (for one of the trophies), it is fucking grueling, especially on Basic and on the EMS stuff. On almost every EMS (which are already super annoying to get criticals on) I seem to consistently get stuck on a single critical note I'm missing, I know which one it is, it's almost always at the very end, and it takes multiple playthroughs for me to get.

Little minor figuring out that happened this morning, but see those colors around the elapsed time track? Those let you know what specific trigger chart you're working with when you're doing Dark Notes. Dunno if this information's anywhere else, but there you go.

I think this has got to be one of my favorite games I've played in a while. I've pretty much been playing it consistently for a month. I'm just working on fully completing it now.

I have four characters left to unlock (Cosmos, Sephiroth, Kain, and Seifer).
I have two cards left to obtain to finish the collection (Kain and Locke)
53 out of 64 trophies obtained (Currently working on fully chaining each ultimate song - the battle songs can kiss my ass)
Every song has been s ranked at the very least on both challenge and series.
99999 Rhythmia obtained.

I'm absolutely loving this game, but I think my 3ds is taking a beating in the process.

I really gotta finish this game up, but I'm too lazy to charge my 3DS.

I love what I played of it and as a big music gamer, this game is right up my alley. Still got a bunch of characters to unlock though. The only ones I have right now are Cosmos, Kain, and Yuna.

For those wanting it on iOS, it came out today there. You get the base game and I think two tracks and a couple of characters for free, then everything else costs money. I don't personally have an iOS device that supports it, but apparently it's $0.99 per song, $2.99 for a bundle of all songs from a game, and $2.59 per character (ahahaha what). It seems that they did away with the EMS levels altogether, and you still level up characters but it looks like you no longer equip them.

I'm mainly super salty because they DID add characters and tracks from FFT, Type-O, XIII-2 (and maybe others?) as well as some additional characters and tracks from existing games. I hope these come out as DLC for the 3DS version but I'm not holding my breath . The only consolation is that in typical S-E iOS/mobile fashion it's all expensive as fuck. According to people on GAF buying everything would run you about $150.

After playing around for the iOS version a bit, I have to grudgingly admit it may be the better version. If you rule out the ridiculousness of purchasing characters at $2 a pop (the game comes with the Warrior of Light, the guy from FFII, Onion Knight and Cecil), the cost works out roughly the same as purchasing the 3DS version. The game comes with Zanarkand and One Winged Angel free. You get level packs for each game in the series with 4 songs for $3 apiece, so that's $39 (roughly the same songs that came in the base 3DS version for the same price). Single DLC songs are $1 apiece, and there are 59 of them (55 in the 3DS version if I remember right). I wish you could buy the songs from the level packs individually, because I'm not fond of the assortment, but otherwise, it's fair, if not in line with pricing on iOS.

Notable song additions are "Not Alone" (FF9), "Antipyretic" (only song from FFT) and "Sound of the Wind" (only song from Crystal Chronicles). They've eliminated most of the RPG elements. No story mode (or EMS songs, those have all been stuck in the other two categories), no Dark Crystal mode, no items, no equiping abilities. Characters come with abilities, and I'm not sure if those change as you level up. Since you can't change abilities, you don't have to unequip them to earn SS/SSS rank. There's a Quest Medley mode which I believe throws random songs together, and you play it to unlock alternate note charts. Alternatively, you can make your own note charts and share them (I think).

In the few songs I've played there seems to be a hint of slowdown, but it could be my imagination. I'm running it on an iPad 3, and the game won't run on anything less than an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4 (sorry Tritoch).

I'll admit to purchasing around 20 songs/packs. It sort of sucks having to rebuy them, but this is one of my favorite games, and having it on a device that I have with me all the time is pretty awesome.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So now you can pay ridiculous money to get those characters instead?

Here is a full list of the track/character changes in the iOS version:

Quote:

Final Fantasy II – The Rebel Army (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a BMS track

Final Fantasy III – Elia, the Maiden of Water (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely

Final Fantasy IV – Theme of Love (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely
Final Fantasy IV – The Red Wings (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy V – Home, Sweet Home (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a FMS track
Final Fantasy V – A New World (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy VI – Celes’s Theme (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a FMS track
Final Fantasy VI – Celes available as a new character

Final Fantasy VII – Aerith’s Theme (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a BMS track
Final Fantasy VII – Tifa added as a new character

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children – Beyond the Wasteland (BMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children - ~Advent: One-Winged Angel~ (BMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy VIII – Waltz for the Moon (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely
Final Fantasy VIII – Don’t be Afraid (BMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version
Final Fantasy VIII – Ending Theme (FMS) – Now a properly playable track; was an Prelude/Epilogue track in the 3DS version
Final Fantasy VIII – Fisherman’s Horizon (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version
Final Fantasy VIII – Rinoa added as a new character

Final Fantasy IX – Something to Protect (FMS) – Available in iOS version as a BMS track
Final Fantasy IX – Behind the Door (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely
Final Fantasy IX – Melodies of Life ~ Final Fantasy (FMS) – Now a properly playable track; was an Prelude/Epilogue track in the 3DS version
Final Fantasy IX – Not Alone (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version
Final Fantasy IX – Garnet added as a new character

Final Fantasy X – SUTEKI DA NE (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a FMS track
Final Fantasy X – Auron added as a new character

Final Fantasy X-2 – KUON: Memories of Waves and Light (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy XI – FFXI Opening Theme (EMS) – Available in iOS version as a BMS track
Final Fantasy XI – Shinryu (BMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy XII – Theme of the Empire (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely;
Final Fantasy XII – Final Fantasy ~FFXII Version~ (BMS) – Now a properly playable track; was an Prelude/Epilogue track in the 3DS version
Final Fantasy XII – Balthier added as a new character

Final Fantasy XIII – Fighting Fate (BMS) – Available in iOS version as a FMS track
Final Fantasy XIII – Defiers of Fate (EMS) – Missing from iOS version completely; however the separate BMS version of it is still available in both versions.
Final Fantasy XIII – Hope added as a new character

Final Fantasy XIII-2 – Serah added as a new character

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles – Sound of the Wind (FMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version

Final Fantasy Tactics – Antipyretic (BMS) – New track exclusive to iOS version
Final Fantasy Tactics – Ramza added as a new character
So that makes for:

-9 new characters
-7 tracks completely missing from the 3DS version
-8 tracks that changed types (EMS -> BMS/FMS) from the 3DS to the iOS version
-11 completely new tracks
-3 tracks that were only those shitty text scroll Prelude/Epilogue tracks in the Story mode on the 3DS version that for the iOS version they changed into proper playable FMS/BMS tracks; I would personally also consider these "new" tracks, which would bring the total to 14 new tracks

Personally I'm not holding out any hope for further 3DS DLC (although it's not impossible), but hopefully we'd get these in a sequel/expansion of some sort; the iOS version adds a few of my absolute favorite tracks/characters.

Edit: I updated the OP with the iOS info and changes. Also I added a clean version of the complete tracklisting (on cart/unlockable/DLC) for the 3DS version since all of the DLC is out in all regions now. For anyone interested I'll also post it here:

Yeah, because I really enjoyed playing the same combination of 20 songs over and over to unlock characters, and I loved that it didn't include my favorite song from FF9.
Pretty much this. Dark Crystal mode is neat and all, but it desperately needed to include all tracks rather than the same few over and over and over again. It just becomes painful in its current form.

Like Daravon said, this version adds some of my favorite songs that were excluded from 3DS (still surprised Not Alone never came out as DLC) as well as some of my favorite characters. It's kind of amusing that Cecil and Onion Knight are among the few free characters since they've been in my party on 3DS the whole time I've played it.

I'm not surprised the old iOS devices I have won't run it, though. Simple games already stutter, slow down, and have serious control recognition issues, so I never expected Theatrythm to be playable on them. Extra portability wouldn't be much of a plus to me since I keep my iPhone muted all the time. If I've got headphones with me then I probably brought them for my 3DS.

I'll just keep hoping for the slim chance that they'll add this extra stuff in as new DLC for 3DS. Hell, I'd be happy just getting Not Alone and Antipyretic.

Theatrhythm has literally been my game of the year thus far, I can't get over how fun and addicting this game is. It is kind of annoying that the ios version comes with a ton more content because I don't plan on owning an ios device anytime soon.

I've pretty much bought all the dlc on the 3DS version and I am currently trying to complete the game. Perfect chaining all the BMS courses are an utter and complete bitch. I still need to unlock a few more characters but the chaos shrine is completely done for the most part.

I really hope that all the ios features makes its way to the 3DS version but I'm not holding my breath like so many people have said before, but its still good to see them add more tracks and characters to this awesome game.

Some of those missing tracks are really, really stupid choices.

Still adore the Shrine, I thought the progressively more difficult charts was an awesome concept and well handled. Could have used a bigger bank of tracks, sure, but it was fun as hell and unique. Sad to see it go.

I'll eat my own head if this content makes it to 3DS. No way in hell.
