Yea, I'm hoping for another Megadeth song, preferably holy wars. I want some Dream Theater as well! Anyone have any idea if Freezepop is going to make another appearance? I know it's not harmonix game anymore but i'm still hoping they come back since their songs were pretty fun and challenging to play.

Anyway, what was up with that 80s thing? I hope it's not a sign that bonus songs are going away because I enjoyed a lot of them.

I don't know...I'm an 80's whore (and a lot of my favorite bands are on it...yay, Poison!), but 30 songs or so for $50 is a ripoff. $30...maybe. Hopefully, it'll drop in price by the time GH3 comes around. I hear GH3 will be closer to 70-ish songs.

Megadeth should go the Velvet Revolver route and try to get one of the songs from their recent album in. That's good marketing right there, on VR's part (and "She Builds Quick Machines" is a great song anyway). "Washington is Next!" would do just fine with me.

So, where's my Thunderstruck? It's the only AC/DC song that needs to be on there.

That video was posted on the previous page.

I don't even know how people can do that. Hitting the right notes is the least of my worries when I can't even strum that fast.

Learn to strum up and down. I can't handle a lot of songs on hard yet (just got it about a week and a half ago), but it works so much cleaner than just downstrokes and it really makes a difference when the stuff comes flying at you at high speeds (and especially during excessively long chains of a single note/chord). I sometimes strum too fast for medium speed now without realizing it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So, is it possible to fret tap on some of the stuff? I can tap on an actual guitar, but when I'm doing that, it's up on the 15th fret and up, not at about the 6th fret where the orange is. I can't move my stumming hand that fast and accurately.

I'm gonna cry trying "Through Fire and Flames". T_T

I can't do Misorlou let alone even attempt at that... Considering that i'm not the most hardcore of rock fans, I'm hoping there's gonna at least be one song to spark my interest.

I've been watching gameplay videos over the past couple of days and I gotta say one thing... I don't really like the new "look" too much. It's like Neversoft (who, I only yesterday found out was at the helm of this, as opposed to Red Octane) wanted to clean up and smooth out every bit of its predecessors and um, you know, that was kind of part of the charm of the series, if not one of its largest parts.

There are now reportedly "story mode" cutscenes just to eliminate the crude hand-drawn map of GHII in between venues, and while I'm all for making the game look crisp and polished, even the awesome little effects I fell in love with in the first two games, like the vector flames that appear when you're wailing on note streaks have now been replaced by more realistic-looking ones. This is all great, but I'm going to miss a lot of those little details.

Also, there's still no Zeppelin track in this game. This is greatly disturbing.

Okay, I'm officially hyped for this..."Talk Dirty to Me" (Poison) has been confirmed to be in it. Can't wait to see the solo section for that one.

"CC...Pick up that guitar and'a...TALK TO ME!" (Song fails 7 seconds later under barrage of notes). Can't wait for the masochism!

On the same hand...I wonder where the Rock Band updates are?

Enceph: Yeah, I think a lot of the "grassroots" feel of GH2 might be lost for stuff with higher production values. As long as they don't screw up the main gameplay though, I'll be playing this for a long time. The boss battles look like a cool addition to the main gameplay.

I'm pulling for Zeppelin/Stairway too, but I don't foresee it being the beast Freebird was if it gets in. Maybe as an encore for level 3-5, but not the "final boss" song.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Of all A.F.I. songs, why the fuck would they pick Miss Murder?

Then again... I was never able to rationalize why, of all of Aerosmith's songs, they chose Last Child as an encore in GH2.

Enlarged for emphasis. Terrible choice. I don't even listen to it on my Aerosmith comp and there's nothing that stands out about actually playing it. "Walk This Way" was made for being featured in GH.

Similarly...If they're going to insist on shoving Nirvana in all of these games, where is Teen Spirit?

Minor update here, since new tracks have been announced.

"Minus Celsius" by Backyard Babies
"Hier Kommt Alex" by Die Toten Hosen
"In the Belly of a Shark" by Gallows
"I'm in the Band" by The Hellacopters
"Avalancha" by Heroes Del Silencio (?)
"Take This Life" by In Flames
"Ruby" by Kaiser Chiefs
"Closer" by Lacuna Coil
"Generation Rock" by Revolverheld
"Mauvais Garcon" by NAAST
"Radio Song" by Superbus

Not sure which are master tracks but I think I'm not alone here when I say that I'm INCREDIBLY surprised that a Spanish rock track has been included this time around. Heroes Del Silencio are an old-school rock band who broke up in the mid-90's. They were VERY popular during the 90's though and their guitar work was pretty furious shit. Even though I never really got into them, I'm glad to see the series branching out into other languages.

Only a matter of time before they put in a Kaizers Orchestra track. <3

They could at least have had the decency to put in "Entre Dos Tierras", but no ... -__-

All in all, a very "Europeanish" tracklist so far.

Considering Midori (the new character) and the type of gameplay the series is rooted in, I'd say we can expect at least one Japanese song as well for the final tracklist. I'm actually surprised there isn't a Japan-only edition of GH. I wonder how this game is received over there...

But yeah, never heard of any of the European bands in the update either (I've HEARD of Lacuna Coil, but haven't heard any of their songs).

I'm just hoping the remaining 24 slots or so aren't just no-name local bands and they have some more big surprises. And who is this other recognizable guitarist they promise going to be? Money's on either Buckethead or Eddie Van Halen (especially with the big reunion).

Sorry to say, but given the choice between my favorite bands and another group of no-names like in GH2 with about 3 songs between them I'd listen to IRL (and one of them being "Jordan" with BH not exactly being a no-namer)...I'm pulling for the big label guys here to fill out the tracklist. The best thing about GH is playing songs you actually want to hear IRL (and finding new ones at that...Wolfmother = <3)...Which is why I'm probably one of the only people who can justify the pricetag of Rock the 80's, since I like 90% of the songs (Holy Diver is the only song I can't stand and while I like We Got the Beat and Wrathchild, there are better Go-Go's/Iron Maiden songs...We Got the Beat is actually pretty obnoxious to play). That, and the delicious irony of playing "Turning Japanese" is almost worth the price of admission.

Random questions: Does anyone know anything about a demo, preferably the PS2 version? And how late was GH2's songlist finalized before it was actually released?

Shit... The fuck do you know about music? Some of the best tracks in Guitar Hero II were the bonus tracks by the so-called "no name bands". (Bang Camaro, The Last Vegas, All That Remains, Honest Bob & The Factory To Dealer Incentives, The Acro-bats, The Amazing Crowns, Vagiant, Freezepop, etc.) In the first game my favorite song in the game is still one of the bonus tracks. (Shaimus - All Of This) My complaint about them has nothing to do with the choice of music but the fact that you get no cash for playing live gigs with those songs. Point is: The bonus tracks add to an already awesome set list as well as introduce people to new bands.

Having said that, I am rooting for more indie labels to drop some tracks in this game even though I know that it's not really likely to happen as much, since Neversoft has already announced that even some well-known bands that have been announced for this installment won't have a spot in the setlist and will instead be relegated to the Bonus Tracks.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
