The style's a little too "in-your-face" for me. It's like they're trying to impress you with its cool slickness (omg they're doing flips!!11 and waving weapons around!!11). But I guess it's for younger audiences that'll eat that stuff up.

Also: totally bitter that the opening shot of the moon didn't turn into a blurred pan downwards to an exploding manhole cover like in the intro of the cartoon.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

My opinion, I lost all hope for this movie now.

It's based on the cartoon franchise than the original comic books.
I was hoping to see a somewhat serious movie like the first TMNT live action movie (The best one IMO), but it's looking like your typical CG movies that comes out every year from Dreamworks or something.

They're fighting aliens? ..

I can't watch it - it's US-only. I didn't much like the first video where they're running around on rooftops. The animation wasn't life-like (they didn't seem to have enough "weight") and the character designs looked quite silly to me; they had the attitude but not the look to carry it off.

Having seen that new video, I can see how they're aiming for it to be more tongue-in-cheek (a lot like the cartoon). The initial impression of all that realistic 3D environmental work led me to believe that they were trying for something deadly serious.

Well, unfortunately, most kids programming seems to think that the lowest common denominator is also the final frontier.

Even if they are aiming for the younger audience, I think it will still be a good movie. It just won't be for everyone. Which is probably unfortunate in the long run.

What a load of crap. I didn't think much of the first trailer, but now I am just down-right disgusted. I echo Ulysses comments on the animation. Did the TMNT's go on a diet at some point? Atkins?...their faces are terribly messed in the 2nd trailer. Rather than spend money to watch this junk, I think I'll go buy the original TV series on DVD.

I can't see this being a big success. TMNT are not the hot thing for Saturday-morning cartoons anymore, so the younger generation won't be craving it to a large extent. And the 20-30 year olds expect a little more for their buck, and their loyalty (or at least they should), than seeing the TMNT being degraded from childhood heroes to a cheap CGI animation, just because someone trying to make an easy buck on the franchise. 16 years later and the original TMNT movie still kicks the shit out of this crap.

I thought they were going to do a live action CGI movie. Kinda disappointed, but the lastest batch of CGI movies has been pretty good. Plot of the movie doesn't seem all that great, but sequences are looking pretty good so far.

I'm gonna wait and see what the critics say before paying to see it

I wonder whether they stuck with the original homecoming/reunion plot. Pitting the Turtles against some cheesy extra-dimensional threat and probably the Foot is ok in my book as long as the movie still takes its time to actually deal with the characters. Given that the new trailer was an MTV exclusive, I'll just presume for now that it was compiled with an audience of attention span deficient kiddies in mind.

I was also hoping that this flick would've been edgy like the original live action, but oh well. I'm sure it'll be somewhat entertaining, but I don't have my hopes up anymore. Why is making a good movie too much to ask these days?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I spotted the trailer on one of the kids movies at my theater, and I've gotta admit, the movie looks decent.

I like the style the animation currently has, but I'm just not sure where they're taking it. One minute it looks like it'll be like the original TMNT, but the next it's deadly serious looking with some weird-ass monsters and shit.

I'll likely see it out of pure curiosity, but the movie could be anything at this point, ranging from pure shit to a real revival of the franchise.

I ordered TMNT from my cable's On Demand service a few hours ago and I honestly liked it after months of "Why did they bother?" This is coming from a child of the '80s and '90s who was into everything TMNT except the Eastman/Laird comics which I have never read, mind you.

I felt like the movie was more about the conflict between the Turtles as brothers and as a team, and especially about Leonardo and Raphael, and I liked that a lot. The dialogue was never insulting and didn't bombard me with one-liners, nor was it too over-the-top for me. The animation fits for the movie it is, and I'm sure their fighting walking statues and all that is so the kids can see some fight scenes and action. Also, Raphael's Night Watcher costume was extraordinarily cool. This one surpasses at least TMNT2: The Secret of the Ooze and probably the third one, which I have never seen but commercials and the Angry Videogame Nerd's video on it made it look astronomically stupid.

Off-topic: TMNT made me wonder how WB will handle ThunderCats. I loved it when I was four years old, but became a joke to me having watched the entire series during its Toonami run and seeing the sets sell for like $65-$70 apiece.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
