Maybe not quite metal, but heavy nonetheless, I also can't wait for my copy of Noise Addiction by Pure Hell on Welfare Records. That one's been waiting far too long. PURE HELL

I was at a show with a similar lineup, though there was some third opening band as well. Devil Driver was horrible, but Opeth was incredible. Their drummer fell ill, so they had one of their sound techs fill in for the first half of the show while they played mainly their lighter, more acoustic-based stuff. However, for the second half, they had Gene Hoglan on-hand to fill in, and man. He was incredible. I've never heard drumming like that live before. It was a rad show, and definitely made up for the weak opening bands.

I would like to hear opinions about the newest single of Blind Guardian: Fly.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm looking forward to Green Carnation's concert that's coming up around spring break (two weeks from now). It's at 1am, but it should be a good show.

I odn't mean to change the subject much, but with that. I watched the DVD of the G3 show and allthough it featured many great guitarist. It was just boring after awhile. The guitar is my favorite instrument, I love watching people do what they can with it, but there was nothing to pull me into the music anyone was playing. I was impressed with that DVD. I liked all the songs, especially the three covers they did in the end.

John Petrucci wasn't quite as in your face as the other two sets, but he deffinetly seemed more technical, and i felt that his songs had more thought put into them. I've always liked his song writing, be it with Dream Theater, Liquid Tension, or his solo stuff, and G3 didn't disapoint.

G3 is also the reason i like Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani today.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I went to G3 last time it came to Vancouver, and man, what a show. Satriani was his usual self, rockin' for a few songs but then beginning to sound repetitive. Vai absolutely blew me away. Not just the music but man, what a showman. It was unlike any show I've ever been to before. Yngwie, on the other hand, was pretty bad. Sure he can play a million notes in a second, but he still adamantly uses his thirty year old Martial stacks which sound like total garbage at that volume. It was almost painful to listen to.

The most disappointing thing about Yngwie is that a lot of my favorite stuff of his is where he slows it down and throws in some rad acoustic melodies here and there, 'cause all the arpeggiating starts to sound the same after a while, but, of course, that's what he focused on.

The end of the show was rad when the three of them were jamming together, but again Yngwie proved how one-dimensional a musician he is, and just played scales overtop of Vai and Satriani, who were actually sound really awesome rocking out together.

Aside from Yngwie, the show was fantastic.

Anyway, I find myself listening to Ram-zet the last couple of weeks, anyone heard anything from them?!? I'd highly recommend them, very explosive deathmetal with a pinch of prog rock.

Yeah, Yngwie has a pretty jerkoff attitude. I read an interview once where the interviewer asked him what other guitarists he listened to, and he replied with something like "I don't listen to other guitarists. I hear them, but I don't listen to them."

yeah that kind of attitude really sucks, I hope for the guy itself it's only just an act towards reporters (you know to seem like a rock dude!! :S ) otherwise he's just a dick..

Probably the best show I've ever been to was 3 Inches Of Blood and Corrosion of Conformity opening for Motörhead. I couldn't hear for days after that.

I saw 3 Inches of Blood back in november opening for Exodus. My friend thought they were an amazing band and he got me into them, and the live show just blew me away. The bassist had so much energy on stage it was crazy. After the concert got done I couldn't lift my neck because it was so sore from the concert

They were much better than Exodus.

I've heard very little of Shining's stuff, but from what I've heard I can say that I much prefer guitarist Casado's previous band, Silencer.

Its pretty much a mix of both, they use alot of electronic elements and industrial/dance style drumming, but also, they use thick fast heavy gutars. As for a specific genre, I just call it industrial metal.
